This place is quite old and run down and extremely dirty. The chairs run down and torn. The floors super dirty. Both our rooms smelled like stinky feet or spilled beer. The carpets desperately need to be changed out completely and the tiles heavy duty scrubbed! The main hall smelled like curry walking in. Def ppl living long term here. The walls were thin and early morning you can hear the slams of all the doors and people walking in the hallway. The man who checked us in was nice. One of our rooms electric key door did not work like it was dead and out of battery. Instead of switching rooms, he opened it with a metal key for us. But then we could not go in and out without a working key and he could not leave us the metal key. So we were stuck in for the night and locked out after breakfast. Pretty inconvenient.

The environment of the Inn at Portland, as described by recent customer reviews, presents a mixed picture. The hotel is noted for being "quite old and run down" in some areas, with descriptions of "torn" chairs and "super dirty" floors. There are mentions of distinct odors in rooms and hallways, such as "stinky feet or spilled beer" in rooms, and "curry" or "like a hospital" in the main hall. These sensory observations suggest that the hotel's interior environment may not consistently meet modern cleanliness or maintenance standards for all guests. The property is also noted for being "kind of hidden behind an Asian restaurant and marijuana dispensary," which may influence the initial impression for some visitors. The hotel is situated on 5 acres of land and is conveniently located near Westbrook and the Maine Turnpike, approximately three miles from the Portland Transportation Center and Portland International Jetport, and five miles from Portland's historic Old Port. This accessibility can be a practical advantage for travelers.

In terms of services and features, the Inn at Portland aims to provide fundamental necessities for its guests. Bathrooms are equipped with shower/tub combinations and complimentary toiletries. Complimentary wireless internet access is available in guest rooms and public areas, supporting connectivity for both leisure and business needs. Flat-screen televisions with cable channels are also provided, although the channel selection is described as "very basic."

Customer feedback regarding the rooms indicates a functional, albeit sometimes basic, offering. While some guests have noted issues with cleanliness, such as unvacuumed floors and dried dirt in showers, others have found the "beds very comfortable" and some rooms to be "clean updated." There are reports of "thin walls," leading to noise from hallways and adjacent rooms, which could impact the quiet enjoyment of a stay. The in-room refrigerators require manual activation upon arrival and need time to cool down, which is a detail guests might need to be aware of. Despite these points, some reviews also reflect positive aspects, with guests describing their rooms as "large and clean and well-appointed" and noting comfortable beds.

The staff at the Inn at Portland has received some positive remarks for their helpfulness and courtesy. One review highlights a staff member who was "very courteous and patient over the phone" and attempted to assist with a malfunctioning electric key door, even resorting to a "metal key." While this specific situation led to inconvenience for the guest by limiting their room access, the staff's initial intention to be helpful was noted. Other general reviews have also pointed to "helpful staff," "nice and patient staff," and a "friendly welcome."

In terms of dining, the Inn at Portland offers a complimentary breakfast, though specific details on its variety or quality beyond "continental" or "buffet" were not extensively provided in the given reviews. However, the mention of "The Asian restaurant" adjacent to the hotel suggests an on-site dining option for lunch and dinner, which is Kon Asian Bistro, providing convenience for guests who prefer to dine without leaving the premises. The hotel also has a bar, which can be a place for guests to relax in the evening, though no specific details about the bar's ambiance or offerings were provided in the given reviews beyond it being a feature.

Regarding promotional information, the Inn at Portland is positioned as an "inexpensive, pleasant place to stay," appealing to budget-conscious travelers, businesses looking to control lodging expenses, or those needing a convenient stopover. The offer of free WiFi and free self-parking are inherent value propositions. While no specific seasonal discounts or packages are mentioned, the overall impression is that of a hotel focused on affordability. It's noted that the hotel is "closed from November 11, 2024, to May 22, 2025," indicating a seasonal operation, and guests should verify dates for their planned stay. The hotel has a minimum check-in age of 21 and does not allow pets, though service animals are welcome. Cash payments are not accepted, and a $100 damage deposit is required upon arrival, collected via credit card.

In conclusion, the Inn at Portland, listed on "Hotels Near Of Me," provides a basic and budget-friendly accommodation option in Portland, Maine. While some guest experiences point to challenges in terms of general cleanliness, potential noise issues, and aging facilities, the hotel does offer practical amenities such as a seasonal outdoor pool, free WiFi, and free self-parking. The presence of an adjacent Asian restaurant provides convenient dining options. The staff generally receives positive feedback for their courteous and helpful demeanor. For travelers prioritizing affordability and essential services over luxury or a pristine environment, the Inn at Portland can serve as a functional base for exploring the greater Portland area. Thin walls, you can hear everything in the halls and above you, heard feet stomping all night. If there’s no TVs on you hear word for word the conversations in the rooms next to you. Wasn’t the cleanest, floor clearly wasn’t vacuumed and there was a good amount of dried of dirt in the bottom of the shower, two very easy cleaning tasks that wouldn’t have taken long to do. Kind of smelled like a hospital in the halls and was very cold in the halls. Fridge isn’t cold when you get there, you have to turn it on and wait for it to get cold. No good views. The hotel is kind of hidden behind an Asian restaurant and marijuana dispensary. Very basic channels on the tv. Pool was decent.

Not great, but definitely not bad either. The rooms are large, clean, & well-equipped. You're nearby everything. But the walls are SUPER thin, so you can hear everything from the corridor & adjacent rooms, which was a bummer. I'd say it's a good budget motel. Try the Asian Bistro next door if you do stay here!

Everything was off, the clock, the fridge, the toilet consistently ran all night and leaked all over the floor. The walls are paper thin, the shower water kept turning off. There was a horrible musty smell when we first came in along with the window being almost impossible to open. Our food almost went bad cause they shut the fridges off. The staff is incredibly rude, they ignore you on the phone and when we went to check out the lady looked directly at us and went out back for 20+ mins so we just left the key on the counter. The breakfast was scarcely limited and the bagel toaster was broken. Location is the only thing this place has.

We stayed here last night and the smell theought the whole building very mildew and damp. My bed comforter was very dirty and the bed speed like pee. We had no other place to go as every motel was full. 2 of us slept on the floor. When I was talking to the front desk clerk she was very rude and basically calling me a liar. Also, stated I could have just checked out and went somewhere else. Glad to be going back to Northern Maine! Not worth the $275 bucks!!!
