The hotel itself is beautiful; the staff is friendly and helpful. I booked a suite for a very personal overnight (family member death anniversary). Unfortunately, the pictures and description promise luxury, and I was disappointed when seeing the room in person, especially for the price. I did kindly mention some of my concerns to the staff working at the front desk when checking out, but it should be addressed. I’ve been coming to KPT and GRB for the last thirty-two years and stayed at most of the local hotels, some of which are part of this resort chain (Boathouse is usually my go to). The carpet was in need of some serious TLC as was the fabric ottoman in the middle of the room. Both had varying stains and areas of discoloration. I didn't even want to put clothes on the ottoman... It looked nasty and just didn’t feel clean. There were cobwebs in the bathroom and along some of the windows (not a huge deal but still). The TV clicker didn’t really work, had dirt/grime embedded between the buttons and was stuck on one channel, unless you pressed insanely hard on the number buttons to change it. Not that the priority was TV but still frustrating. I totally understand it’s an old building, but you should feel like you’re in a clean, well-maintained room. The sheets and bedding were great, but the bed itself felt worn in and dipped a bit in the middle, which isn’t ideal for two people sharing a bed. We tossed and turned quite a bit. The headboard at the base of the bed was visibly loose. Not a huge issue but not something that should be wobbly in an expensive suite. We didn’t get to use our $50 dining credit, which was disappointing, as it's not applicable outside of your stay. I would stay there again but not the suite. I hope some of these improvements can be addressed, and maybe some more extensive TLC can be done more regularly. It’s a beautiful building and deserves to reflect that wholeheartedly.

Kennebunkport Inn Introduce

For those actively searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the charming and popular coastal town of Kennebunkport, Maine, the Kennebunkport Inn offers a distinguished and centrally located option. Situated at the highly desirable address of 1 Dock Square, Kennebunkport, ME 04046, USA, this historic inn places guests directly in the heart of the town's vibrant hub, offering immediate access to its renowned shops, restaurants, and attractions.

The environment of the Kennebunkport Inn is one of classic New England charm, housed within a beautifully restored tea merchant's mansion built in the 1890s. The common areas, including the lobby, restaurant, and bar, are generally described as "beautiful" and "beautifully decorated," often exuding a cozy yet elegant atmosphere. There's a particular festive ambiance around the holidays, where the hotel's decor draws a large crowd. While the building retains many of its turn-of-the-century architectural elements, it aims to combine this historic feel with contemporary comforts. The Inn's prime location at Dock Square means guests are immersed in the lively pulse of Kennebunkport, with views of the bustling square and proximity to the Kennebunk River. An outdoor patio with comfortable seating and an outdoor fireplace offers a pleasant gathering spot for guests to relax and soak in the atmosphere.

In terms of services and features, the Kennebunkport Inn provides a range of amenities designed for a comfortable and convenient stay. A key feature is the on-site dining experience offered at The Burleigh Restaurant. This restaurant serves elevated tavern fare with a focus on seafood and comfort foods, featuring options for dinner and cocktails. It is noted for its al fresco dining during warmer months and often draws a crowd, especially during the holidays. Guests can enjoy a complimentary "on-the-go" or "continental" breakfast daily, typically available from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, providing a convenient start to the day with items like coffee, tea, smoothies, granola, and oatmeal. While some reviews suggest the breakfast is minimal, it serves its purpose for guests eager to explore the town.

The hotel offers 30 individually decorated guest rooms and suites, spread across two buildings (the main Inn and the adjacent Riverhouse). These rooms vary in size, style, and decor, blending traditional design with contemporary features. Accommodations often feature plush, locally made Cuddledown bedding, premium linens, and bath amenities. Standard in-room amenities typically include air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, Keurig coffee makers, and complimentary bottled water. Some rooms or suites may also offer gas-burning fireplaces, adding to the cozy ambiance. However, it's worth noting that due to the historic nature of the building, room layouts and sizes can be quite diverse, and some guests have pointed out that certain rooms, particularly those at a lower price point or older sections, might feel outdated or show signs of wear and tear, such as stained carpets or loose fixtures. It's important for guests to manage expectations regarding room aesthetics, especially when comparing them to online photos which might highlight recently renovated areas.

The staff at the Kennebunkport Inn consistently receive high praise. They are frequently described as "friendly and helpful," "accommodating," and providing "top-notch" customer service. This includes positive interactions with front desk staff who are noted for being welcoming and ensuring guests are comfortable. The availability of a 24-hour front desk is a convenience for guests, particularly for late arrivals. Additionally, the hotel offers valuable practical amenities such as free self-parking on-site, which is a significant advantage in bustling Dock Square where parking can be scarce. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the property, ensuring guests can stay connected. For exploring the area, the Inn provides free bicycle rentals and beach towels. An area shuttle service is also available, providing transportation assistance to guests. Concierge services are offered to help with local recommendations and reservations.

Promotional information for the Kennebunkport Inn emphasizes its "central downtown location" and "classic New England hospitality." It positions itself as an ideal choice for a romantic getaway, family celebration, or business retreat, highlighting its proximity to Kennebunkport's main attractions. Special packages and offers are often available to enhance stays during various seasons, including romantic escapes or culinary experiences centered around The Burleigh Restaurant. The Inn's reputation for being "a perfect little retreat" and offering a "charming coastal retreat" is frequently used to attract guests. The convenience of being able to "park your car and walk everywhere" is a major selling point for visitors who wish to explore Kennebunkport's vibrant town center on foot.

The location at 1 Dock Square means guests are immersed in the heart of Kennebunkport. This allows for immediate access to a plethora of shops, art galleries, and diverse dining options, ranging from casual eateries to upscale restaurants. Guests can easily stroll along the Kennebunk River, explore the picturesque harbor, or take a short drive to the beautiful Kennebunkport beaches, such as Gooch's Beach. The area shuttle and complimentary bicycle rentals further enhance the ease of exploring the wider Kennebunkport area, including Cape Porpoise or other scenic spots. While the hotel does not have an elevator, which is a consideration for some guests, the overall convenience of its location often outweighs this for many.

In summary, the Kennebunkport Inn offers a compelling option for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Kennebunkport, Maine, particularly for travelers who prioritize a central, walkable location and a historic New England ambiance. While some rooms may show signs of age or have unique configurations typical of an older building, the Inn's strengths lie in its prime location, the charm of its common areas, the convenience of on-site dining and parking, and the consistently praised friendly staff. It provides a comfortable and authentic base from which to explore the charm and attractions of Kennebunkport, promising a memorable stay for those who appreciate its unique character.

My family stayed here right before Christmas. The hotel lobby, restaurant/bar, and common areas are all great and were beautifully decorated — the restaurant draws a large crowd around the holidays. The location can’t be beat and the on site parking is plentiful and convenient. However, the experience as a hotel guest was not as enjoyable. We were on the third floor in a double room (what I believe is the only double) which was incredibly outdated and dirty. There were only two chairs and no desk, table, luggage rack, etc. for four people and their belongings. In the evenings we found ourselves lounging in the hotel’s common spaces as there was no space for us to sit together in the room. A bit awkward. As others have said, the “continental breakfast” is minimal but was not a deal breaker for us. Overall, we had a great trip in Kennebunkport and at the Inn, but our room experience put a damper on things since our trip was for 3 nights. I believe some of the rooms in the Inn have been remodeled, but photos on the website are misleading. Also be mindful that there are no elevators.

So happy we stayed at the Kennebunkport Inn while attending the New Year’s Eve Party at the Boat House!! We received a good rate considering we made a last minute reservation. The room was perfect for our evening out to bring in the New Year. The Inn is Beautifully Decorated in Christmas Decorations and there is a large patio with fire pits and Adirondack chairs surrounded by fresh Christmas Trees, white lights and a lovely rock fireplace!! The restaurant located inside the Inn was elegant and glammed up for the holidays!! We will definitely return and highly recommend!!
