My friend and I booked a double bed room for a getaway weekend and enjoyed every minute! I plan to return with my husband in the future! Room was great, views were beautiful, peaceful location only 6 minutes to downtown area. We booked massages at the spa and enjoyed every moment of it! We enjoyed time in the indoor pool and hot tub. Indoor pool area could use a little updating but we still enjoyed it.

Kingwood Introduce

For local users exploring "Hotels Near Of Me" in the serene mountain town of Clayton, Georgia, Kingwood Resort offers a multi-faceted experience, often positioning itself as a destination for golf, relaxation, and mountain adventures. Located at 401 Country Club Dr, Clayton, GA 30525, USA, with contact numbers (706) 212-4100 and +1 706-212-4100, Kingwood aims to provide a comprehensive resort experience. While some guest feedback points to areas needing modernization, the core appeal of Kingwood lies in its beautiful setting and extensive amenities, making it a viable option for a diverse range of travelers.

The environment of Kingwood Resort is undoubtedly one of its strongest assets. Nestled in the southern foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it boasts "beautiful views" and a "peaceful location," as noted by delighted guests. The resort is situated on a country club drive, indicating a well-maintained, expansive property. The inclusion of a championship-style golf course means meandering fairways and verdant landscapes are central to the visual appeal. Guests can expect to be surrounded by towering trees and rolling hills, offering a sense of escape and tranquility. While the resort is only "6 minutes to downtown area" Clayton, it feels secluded enough to offer a true retreat from the everyday. This natural setting makes it an appealing choice for those who value outdoor beauty and a quiet atmosphere, whether enjoying a round of golf, taking a leisurely stroll, or simply relaxing on a balcony with a mountain or pool view, which many rooms offer.

Kingwood Resort offers a broad range of services designed to cater to both leisure and recreational needs. A key service is its on-site dining, with a restaurant like Embers Vine providing options for lunch and dinner, though it's important to note that the restaurant might have limited hours, especially during winter months, as some reviews indicate. The resort also boasts a full-service spa, The Amethyst Spa, which offers various treatments including massages (Swedish, deep tissue, neuromuscular, prenatal, and couples massages), facials, and body polishes. This comprehensive spa service provides a significant draw for guests seeking relaxation and rejuvenation. For convenience, a daily resort fee often includes access to spa facilities, wireless internet, tennis courts, and access to pools. The resort provides a daily breakfast buffet, which is a convenient start to the day, though one review noted it as "poor." The front desk service is generally well-regarded, with one guest mentioning that staff were "super helpful" and accommodating, even in situations like a broken ice machine. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, and free self-parking is offered for cars, trucks, and RVs, enhancing convenience for all guests. The resort also offers a business center, meeting spaces, and event venues, making it suitable for corporate retreats or weddings.

The features of Kingwood Resort are extensive, aligning with its designation as a resort hotel. At its core is an 18-hole championship golf course, a major attraction for many visitors. Beyond golf, the resort offers both an indoor swimming pool and a seasonal outdoor pool, providing year-round swimming opportunities. The indoor pool area, while enjoyed by guests, has been noted as potentially needing "a little updating" in some reviews. A key feature of the spa facilities includes a hot tub, sauna, and steam room. However, it's worth noting that one guest expressed dissatisfaction with the hot tubs and saunas being separated by gender, which might influence the experience for couples. For fitness enthusiasts, a well-equipped fitness center is available. The resort also features tennis courts, providing additional recreational options. The accommodations themselves include air-conditioned rooms, many with private balconies offering mountain or pool views. Standard room amenities typically include pillowtop beds with premium bedding, flat-screen televisions with premium cable channels, a small refrigerator, coffee-making facilities, and private bathrooms with shower/tub combinations and designer toiletries. Some rooms are described as "spacious and well-appointed," though contrasting reviews suggest that while some rooms are clean and comfortable, others might appear dated with worn furniture or torn carpets, reflecting that parts of the resort might not have been extensively updated since the 1990s. This discrepancy in room quality is an important consideration for potential guests. Furthermore, the resort offers diverse accommodation types beyond standard rooms, including two- and three-bedroom condos, some with golf course views and full kitchens, which can be ideal for families or longer stays. The presence of a gift shop and hair salon also adds to the on-site convenience.

Promotional information for Kingwood Resort emphasizes its appeal as a premier mountain and golf destination in North Georgia. The resort highlights its championship golf course, spa facilities, and beautiful views as key attractions. Special packages often include "stay and play" options for golfers, combining accommodation with rounds on the course. Promotional materials showcase the resort as an "Ultimate Lakefront & Mountain Escape," even though it's not directly on a lake, but rather close to Lake Hartwell. The resort often promotes itself for "rustic refinement meets retreat living," emphasizing the peaceful solitude and array of activities available on-site, such as hiking trails (including one to Laurel Falls). For those planning events, Kingwood promotes its various venues, including a main lodge, wedding garden, and several rooms for gatherings, underscoring its capacity for weddings and corporate events. While official promotions highlight the full range of amenities, it's essential for potential guests, particularly those searching "Hotels Near Of Me" with specific expectations, to consider the varied guest feedback regarding the condition of certain facilities and rooms. Despite some critiques, the consistent positive remarks about staff helpfulness, the serene location, and the overall potential for a relaxing getaway continue to be strong promotional points, inviting guests to "embrace the slower side of life."

I really hate to give bad reviews, feel free to look at my track record for validity in this statement. But unfortunately this place is wayyy over priced for the experience we had; the room itself was like a fancy motel 6. 1) it was more expensive and had a website that sold an experience that may have been extravagant in the 90s, when the furnishings were newer, but it's as though it had not been touched since other than being cleaned. Carpet torn in places, doors rusted, lighting very dim, furniture worn- got a picture of some of it 2) the ice machine was broken and then guy Mike who managed the front seemed surprised, even though he surprisingly had a huge camper cooler full of ice (pretty shady sorry dude). 3) we were totally put off when we were told the sauna and hot tubs were separated by gender... So it tells me this place is much more geared to be a retirement facility more than a resort. Probably should be purchased for such a business model The price alone clearly is meant for the "amenities" rather than the room. I guess celebrating our 6th anniversary trip to Clayton should have been at an Air BNB, which we will not be making that mistake again. Only positive is the location and sense of security along with peace and quiet.

We absolutely love kingwood. This was our 5th year going on our long weekend family vacation. The view is amazing, the new restaurant was good. Mr. Mike is the nicest man ever. Thanks kingwood for always looking out for us. We will see you next year.

Location is convenient, and area around the hotel rooms is very nice and picturesque. A little costlier than nearby hotels, but it is in a more suburban setting and easy access to get to. Rooms can use some updating. Furniture seemed old, and patio door was loose enough to let a few bugs get in. Cooling/heating system was also old. When I turned the heat on, the smoke alarm went off within a few seconds. Staff was friendly and accommodating, offering to give a change of rooms, but unfortunately I was already running late for a wedding and didn't have the time to switch rooms. I agreed an extra blanket would help and they accommodated. Turned out the night got really cold, so it was a little rough going. They noted that they are in the process of replacing the systems with new ones, so that should help as more are replaced.

This resort is advertised as a resort and winery. This was one of the reasons we chose this location for a girls night out. There was no winery! The room had a musty smell, was outdated, and the heat/ac didn't work correctly. Super disappointed.
