Not the best hotel in the world but one of the best places we stayed.. If you want to blend in local and be a part of nature and local life, this family owned place is unique. Stratton mountain resort is like 1/2 hr away, quiet, close to town.. Rooms are but the best again but the family works really hard to make you comfortable doing their best. Kind owners, polite, sincere and helpful.

Londonderry Inn Introduce

The Londonderry Inn, situated at 8 Melendy Hill Rd, South Londonderry, VT 05155, USA, falls within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category as a lodging option, though it appears to offer a unique and perhaps unconventional experience compared to typical hotels. Based on customer reviews, it seems to operate as a family-owned establishment that, for some guests, provides a distinct opportunity to "blend in local and be a part of nature and local life." However, it is crucial to note that guest experiences vary significantly, particularly regarding long-term stays or specific interactions with management.

The environment of the Londonderry Inn is characterized by its quiet, natural setting in South Londonderry, Vermont. It is described by some as being "close to town" and about "1/2 hr away" from Stratton Mountain Resort, making it a potentially convenient base for outdoor activities like skiing or simply enjoying the Vermont landscape. Guests seeking a peaceful retreat appreciate the ability to disconnect and immerse themselves in the local surroundings. The property itself is managed by a family, and for those who connect with this style, it offers a sense of being part of the community rather than just a transient visitor. The physical infrastructure, however, receives mixed feedback. While some might find the "charming old farmhouse with lots of character" appealing, there are mentions that "rooms are but the best again," suggesting a rustic or perhaps somewhat dated condition compared to modern hotel standards. The general impression is of a place that prioritizes a local, authentic feel over luxurious, polished amenities.

The services at the Londonderry Inn appear to be delivered with a personal, family-driven touch. Positive reviews consistently highlight the owners and staff as "kind," "polite," "sincere," and "helpful." These guests found the family "works really hard to make you comfortable doing their best." This indicates a genuine effort to provide a welcoming atmosphere for short-term visitors. However, a highly critical review sheds light on severe concerns regarding long-term rental experiences. Allegations include unauthorized entry into rooms, illegal in Vermont after 30 days as a tenant, and a lack of consistent heating, which is described as "loud" when it does work. The reviewer also mentions an "icy parking lot" as being "dangerous." This stark contrast in feedback suggests that the nature of the stay (short-term versus long-term tenancy) and individual interactions with specific management personnel can drastically alter the guest experience. For short-term hotel guests, the warmth of the family owners might be a significant draw, but for those considering longer stays, the reported issues are serious and would warrant extreme caution and careful review of any lease agreements.

The features of the Londonderry Inn, based on the provided reviews, point towards a simpler, more authentic lodging experience rather than a full-service hotel. The primary feature is its intimate, family-owned atmosphere, which is highly valued by guests looking to "blend in local." Its proximity to outdoor recreational areas, particularly Stratton Mountain Resort, is a practical feature for those visiting for winter sports. The rooms, while not described as luxurious, are seen as functional, with the family doing "their best" to ensure comfort. Amenities like consistent heating, however, appear to be a point of concern based on one review. While not explicitly mentioned, it's reasonable to assume that basic necessities like private bathrooms are available in the rooms, given it's a lodging establishment. The property's natural surroundings and quiet location are inherent features that contribute to its appeal for those seeking a tranquil retreat. The ability to access "nature and local life" is a key characteristic that sets it apart from more conventional chain hotels. Given the "family owned" nature, it's likely that on-site dining options are limited or non-existent beyond perhaps a basic breakfast if offered, typical of smaller inns, but this information is not explicitly provided in the current data.

Promotional information for the Londonderry Inn, based on the reviews, would likely emphasize its unique charm, its family-owned and operated nature, and its strategic location for experiencing Vermont's natural beauty and outdoor activities, such as skiing at Stratton Mountain. It would appeal to travelers looking for a more intimate, non-corporate lodging experience where they can connect with local life. The sentiment of being "one of the best places we stayed" for some guests, despite not being the "best hotel in the world" in terms of luxury, suggests that its charm lies in its authenticity and the personal touch from the owners. However, potential guests, particularly those considering extended stays or concerned about basic amenities and property management practices, should exercise due diligence. It would be advisable to directly contact the inn at (802) 379-0487 or +1 802-379-0487, ask specific questions about the heating, room entry policies for tenants, and the general condition of facilities, especially if planning a long-term rental. The stark contrast in reviews necessitates a cautious approach, balancing the appeal of its unique character with the practicalities of a comfortable and secure stay. The Londonderry Inn, therefore, occupies a niche within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, offering a distinctive, community-oriented experience for some, but requiring careful consideration for others due to reported inconsistencies in service and property management.

Do NOT rent from Maya but if you do, read your lease with extreme caution. Maya will enter your room when you aren't home which is illegal in VT after you are a tenant for thirty days. No consistent heat and when it works it's loud. Brian isn't much better as he is a phony and does whatever Maya demands of him. Just find something else or you will be sorry!! Dangerous, icy parking lot. Do not trust them.

I wish I had known about this place years ago. It's a warm, affordable and convenient place to stay while enjoying just about any activity the area has to offer. The fact that you can get to three different mountain resorts in under 15 minutes is pretty amazing. Maya and Brian have cultivated a place that is welcoming to both an overnight traveller or a long-term tenant. It's very quiet, privacy is respected and has all of the amenities - kitchen, laundry, wifi, parking. I look forward to many more stays!

I love this place! Maya (one of the owners) were so caring accommodating and attentive, from the moment we started interacting. They put so much work and energy into making this place such a clean and cozy environment. It's like a second home! They have the biggest, most caring hearts, so it feels like going home to family when you stay. There are so many beautifully unique rooms! I love the artist vibe this place offers. The surrounding areas are gorgeous as well to explore, its such a great location with a great price tag! I love it! I didn't want to leave. I can't wait to go back. :)

Maya’s hospitality is exceptional! Welcoming, friendly and full of useful local information. The accommodations are simple, clean and quiet. A couple of blocks away is a rural road that turns into a hiking trail running along the West River. I also recommend having dinner at the SoLo restaurant for terrific food and atmosphere.
