Called and inquired if they had a public dump station (I'm boondocking in the area and there are very few dump stations this side of Phoenix.) They said yes, it's $20, pay at the office. Very nice person at the office took my money and gave me a map to the dump station. I asked if I could also dump a bit of household trash in their dumpsters and she said yes. Proceeded down to the dumpsters and as I was returning to my RV was confronted by a man who identified himself as the manager who very rudely informed me that "you paid to dump, not for trash." I told him the staff had OK'd it. He stormed off, presumably to berate the staff, and the whole thing was very unpleasant, unwelcoming and unnecessary. If the office staff were in error, fine, work that out with them. There's no excuse to be rude to customers, especially when the fee to dump is easily twice what it should be. Use this place if you must but the manager needs some remedial education on customer engagement.

Mac Gavins Queen Valley RV Res Introduce

Hello, active adults and RV enthusiasts across Arizona! If you're seeking a serene, engaging, and well-equipped community to call your temporary or seasonal home, especially for those aged 55 and better, then Mac Gavins Queen Valley RV Resort might be just what you're looking for. Tucked away in the breathtaking landscape of Queen Valley, at the base of the majestic Superstition Mountains, this resort is designed to offer more than just a place to park your RV; it’s a vibrant, extended-stay community focused on active living, scenic beauty, and social connection.

Mac Gavins Queen Valley RV Resort positions itself as one of Arizona's "most beautiful and scenic adult resorts," offering a "peaceful retreat away from the crowds and city noise." It's an "active adult community" with a "million-dollar recreation and activities center," promising an "outstanding Activities program for every interest, every lifestyle, every taste!" While some individual customer experiences regarding initial interactions have varied, the resort's core offerings — including its heated pool, two hot tubs, fitness center, various craft rooms, and a comprehensive activity schedule — are designed to create a welcoming and fulfilling lifestyle for its residents and long-term guests. It’s particularly suited for "snowbirds" and those seeking a longer stay to immerse themselves in the quiet desert air and the community spirit.

Location and Accessibility

Mac Gavins Queen Valley RV Resort is located at 50 W Oro Viejo Dr, Queen Valley, AZ 85118, USA. This address places it in the heart of the Superstition Mountains, providing a unique rural setting that feels "away from crowds and busy city streets." This secluded yet accessible location is a key part of its appeal, offering clean desert air and a peaceful environment.

While the resort is in a rural setting, it is well-positioned for exploring the natural beauty and local attractions of the region. It boasts "easy access to an 18-hole golf course" (the Queen Valley Golf Course is nearby), as well as "hiking and ATV trails" directly from the resort, perfect for outdoor adventurers. For those who enjoy boating and fishing, "nearby lakes" are also within reach. Although a review mentioned that a "supermarket, gas stations, etc." are about 19 miles away in Gold Canyon, the resort itself has a small convenience store within the community of Queen Valley. For more extensive shopping, medical facilities, and major Arizona attractions, "shopping, medical facilities, and major Arizona attractions are all in close proximity," meaning within a reasonable driving distance to larger towns like Apache Junction, Florence, and the broader Phoenix metropolitan area. For those traveling with RVs, the resort offers spacious sites (35ft x 50ft) and can accommodate RVs up to 40ft, with both back-ins and pull-thrus, ensuring easy accessibility for various vehicle sizes. Ample parking is available for guests and residents. While some mobile carriers may have limited service in this more remote area (one review mentioned only Verizon works reliably), the resort offers Wi-Fi in its clubhouse/library for guest connectivity.

Promotions or Special Offers

As an RV resort primarily catering to extended stays and a 55+ community, Mac Gavins Queen Valley RV Resort's "promotions" often come in the form of competitive long-term rates and affiliations rather than typical hotel nightly discounts. For Arizona locals looking to experience the resort, here's what to consider:

  • Passport America Membership: Mac Gavins Queen Valley RV Resort is a Passport America Park. This membership offers a significant 50% discount on daily rates, which can be substantial for shorter stays. (Note: The Passport America rate was cited as $40.00, suggesting a full daily rate of $80.00, though rates can vary.)
  • Extended Stay Rates: The resort is an "extended-stay resort," meaning their weekly and monthly rates are inherently designed to be more cost-effective than daily rates. For example, reported monthly rates around $875 and weekly rates around $375 demonstrate significant savings for longer commitments.
  • Seasonal Pricing: Rates may vary depending on the season, with peak winter months (when "snowbirds" flock to Arizona) potentially being higher. Conversely, off-peak seasons might offer better value.
  • Park Models for Sale: For those considering a more permanent or long-term seasonal residence, the resort highlights "Park Models for Rent or for Sale," which can be a valuable option for sustained stays in the community. Information on sales, such as a "2025 NEW Champion Park Model Site 139" for $89,500, is available directly through the resort office.
  • Direct Inquiry for Specific Needs: For very long-term stays or specific group needs, contacting the resort directly might yield tailored pricing options, though this is not always guaranteed.

To get the most accurate and up-to-date pricing for your desired length of stay, and to inquire about any current specific offers, it is highly recommended to visit the official Queen Valley RV Resort website or call them directly.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

For Arizona residents, particularly those aged 55 and over, Mac Gavins Queen Valley RV Resort offers an exceptionally suitable and appealing "resort hotel" experience, though it's important to understand its specific focus as an RV and park model community. It's not a traditional hotel, but rather an active adult oasis that caters to extended stays and a vibrant, community-focused lifestyle.

Its prime location at the foot of the Superstition Mountains provides a serene escape from city life, offering clean desert air and direct access to hiking, ATV trails, and a nearby golf course—perfect for locals looking to immerse themselves in Arizona's natural beauty and outdoor activities. The comprehensive "million-dollar recreation and activities center" with its heated pool, hot tubs, fitness room, and diverse social programs (especially prominent from November to March) is a major draw. For RV owners in Arizona, the full hookup sites are convenient for long-term parking, and the option to rent or purchase park models provides a flexible alternative for seasonal living. While some past customer reviews have highlighted issues with management communication, the resort's core offerings of an active, clean, and community-oriented environment, along with its strategic location for outdoor pursuits, make it a strong choice for Arizona's active adults seeking a fulfilling extended stay or a seasonal base within their home state. It provides a true sense of belonging and a resort lifestyle tailored to those seeking relaxation and recreation in the heart of the desert.

Extremely disappointed with this resort. I drove an hour out of my way to visit this resort and was promptly let in the gate by some kind tenants. I get to the office which is closed so I call the phone number for Sally who is the manager on duty. She picks up the phone and I tell her I'm there to discuss options of living there because I just got hired in Florence. She rudely asked 'How'd you get in the gate?' and then proceeds to tell me that this is only a 55 and up resort and that she 'had another call coming in' and hung up on me. I don't appreciate being discriminated against over the phone and not given the proper courtesy of even a meeting to discuss options. The 55 and up rule is NOT clearly stated on the website unlike the other 55 and up RV resorts around the area. I was really hoping I could live here year round but never got the chance to speak with anyone regarding this and was rudely pushed aside over the phone by Sally after making the trip up there to speak with someone. Sally is extremely rude which is unfortunate because I found the tenants to be very kind.

I drove into the park early 2018 and just knew I wanted to buy a place. So I did. Once I lived here for a month I decided this was where I wanted to live permanently. I’ve lived here for 14 mos and absolutely love it. Lots to do, great people and friendly management.

Park is moving toward a park model business --RVers are only welcome in off season "if they have room". Very few sites available as most are now asked to sign a years lease. If you want to purchase a park model good place to check out. If you are a RVer need to find another park
