This was only for a one night stay and even that was far too long. Where do I start. We checked in, whole first floor smelled like cat pee. Get to our room, door is wide open. Super strange. Do a quick sweep of the room, seems fine. We get settled. Bathroom? Filthy tile, wobbly toilet, toilet paper roll empty and holder coming out of the wall. Floor? Disgusting. My socks were black by the end of the night, and my wife stepped in something sticky. Bugs behind the beds, cat hair on the cushion by the window, broken drawers that fall off, horrible. Wake up next morning, saddest excuse for a continental breakfast ever. Flickering/buzzing led lights with no music or ambience apart from the front desk attendant angrily yelling at somebody over the phone. Cereals labeled wrong (Frosted Flakes labeled as corn flakes ) and STALE STALE froot loops. I went to get coffee, they’re out. I approached the staff member at the desk, she didn’t even acknowledge my existence for a solid 30 seconds. I asked her if there was more coffee coming and she said she would get to it in a few. Then proceeded to irritatingly make coffee showing attitude and disdain. Overall, really a terrible place to stay. If you need to hunker down for a night in this part of the Triad? Either slide into the comfort inn next door, or sleep in your car.
Hello, fellow North Carolinians! When you're traveling through our beautiful state, especially within the bustling Piedmont Triad region, finding a place to rest your head is a common task. As a Wyndham property, Microtel aims to offer efficient, compact rooms with essential amenities, but it's crucial to understand what real guest experiences are like to set proper expectations.
Thomasville, known for its "Big Chair" and furniture heritage, sits conveniently between the larger cities of High Point (the "Furniture Capital of the World") and Lexington (famous for its barbecue). This makes the Microtel Inn & Suites a potential stop for a variety of travelers, from those visiting furniture markets to others simply passing through on Interstate 85. This article is designed to give you, our local North Carolina readers, a clear, factual, and engaging overview of this hotel. We'll delve into its location, reported services, stated features, and what actual guests have shared about their stays, providing you with the necessary information to make an informed decision for your next trip to this part of the Triad.
The Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Thomasville/High Point/Lexi is located at 959 Lake Rd, Thomasville, NC 27360, USA. This address provides a degree of convenience for travelers within the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina.
A significant advantage of its location is its proximity to Interstate 85 (I-85). As a major north-south corridor connecting vital North Carolina cities such as Charlotte, Greensboro, and Durham, I-85 ensures that the hotel is easily accessible for those driving through the state. Guests often note its "convenient location near highway 85," making it a practical stopover for long journeys, allowing for quick exits and re-entries to the interstate.
The hotel's name, "Thomasville/High Point/Lexi," indicates its central positioning relative to these three distinct areas. While located directly in Thomasville, it is within a reasonable driving distance to High Point, known globally for its furniture market, and Lexington, famous for its unique barbecue. This makes it a potential base for individuals attending events in High Point or exploring the local culinary scene in Lexington.
The area surrounding the hotel on Lake Road typically features other commercial establishments, including gas stations and dining options, which can be convenient for travelers needing quick services. Thomasville itself offers local attractions such as The Big Chair and the North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which are often just a short drive from the hotel. Despite some guest concerns about the immediate vicinity, the overall accessibility to major roadways and proximity to multiple Triad cities positions this Microtel as a practical, albeit no-frills, option for getting around the region.

It is important for prospective guests to note that while these services are listed, recent customer feedback suggests that the execution and maintenance of some of these amenities, particularly breakfast and cleanliness, may not consistently meet expectations. Direct communication with the hotel for current conditions is highly recommended.
Based on publicly available information and customer reviews, the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Thomasville/High Point/Lexi has several features and highlights, though some are noted with considerable caveats from recent guest experiences:
However, it is essential to present these highlights alongside significant feedback from recent guests:
In summary, while the location and some basic amenities are present, prospective guests should be fully aware of the significant and repeated negative feedback regarding cleanliness, breakfast quality, room maintenance, and customer service. It indicates that the hotel may not consistently meet standard expectations for a pleasant stay, requiring guests to manage their expectations very carefully.
As a Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham property, this hotel participates in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program and may offer various promotions typical of the Wyndham brand. For North Carolinians looking for value, here are common types of promotions to consider:
To identify the most current and specific promotions available for the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Thomasville/High Point/Lexi, the most reliable method is to visit the official Wyndham Hotels & Resorts website (wyndhamhotels.com) and search for this particular property. Additionally, contacting the hotel directly via phone can provide immediate information on any ongoing local deals or specific offers relevant to your travel dates.
For those needing to get in touch with the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Thomasville/High Point/Lexi, here is the essential contact information:
When contacting the hotel, especially if you have particular concerns stemming from reviews (e.g., specific cleanliness requests, breakfast availability, or pet policy clarification), it is advisable to be direct with your questions to ascertain if the issues have been addressed or if their current offerings meet your expectations.
For North Carolinians considering a stay at the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Thomasville/High Point/Lexi, a balanced perspective is crucial. While its location offers undeniable convenience for navigating the Triad, recent guest experiences paint a picture that strongly suggests caution and managing expectations, especially for those accustomed to a higher standard of hotel service and cleanliness.
On the positive side, the hotel's main suitability for locals lies in its strategic position. Being easily accessible from I-85 and centrally located to Thomasville, High Point, and Lexington, it serves as a pragmatic base for very short-term stays, particularly if budget is the absolute primary concern. For instance, if you're caught on the road late at night and simply need a quick, no-frills place to rest for a few hours before continuing your journey, its highway proximity is advantageous. The fact that it's pet-friendly could also be a deciding factor for some North Carolinians traveling with their animals, provided they confirm the specific fees and policies directly.
However, and this is a significant caveat, the extensive negative feedback from recent guests regarding cleanliness, room maintenance, breakfast quality, and staff demeanor cannot be overlooked. Accounts of dirty bathrooms, sticky floors, unpleasant odors, broken amenities, and unhelpful staff are serious deterrents. For many North Carolinians who prioritize a comfortable, clean, and welcoming environment, these issues could significantly detract from their travel experience. The "saddest excuse for a continental breakfast" and issues with staff attitude are direct contradictions to the expectations often associated with a pleasant hotel stay, even at a budget-friendly property.
Therefore, while the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Thomasville/High Point/Lexi offers a highly accessible location and a budget price point, it appears to come with considerable trade-offs in terms of overall quality and guest satisfaction. For North Carolinians, if your travel absolutely necessitates the lowest possible cost and location is the only priority, and you are prepared to potentially encounter and address the reported issues, it might serve as a bare-bones option. However, if a clean room, a decent breakfast, and positive customer service are important to your travel comfort, as is often the case for local travelers, then a more thorough investigation, or perhaps exploring alternative options nearby like the "Comfort Inn next door" as one reviewer suggested, would be strongly advisable to ensure a more enjoyable and stress-free visit to the Triad.

Jun 09, 2025 · Josh FowlerMirrors smudged and bathroom could have used a little more thorough clean of spots. No bugs seen and beds very comfortable however. I always plan my own cleanup routine when staying away from home. Remote control for TV looked spotless and bed also very inviting and clean. They seem reluctant on my visit to give receipts with cash so recommend using card option when possible. Keep all receipts for any deposits as it may not be enough to just request it be returned without it. Convenient location near highway 85 and centered to local town as well.
Jun 16, 2025 · M. Denise ButlerThis place is absolutely the worst on services and they way they treat their valued rewards customers they said over the phone making reservations that the room even though was advertised online for 58$ that it would actually be 69 dollars when I told them what online price said they argued it was for rewards members which I am anyway so I asked them is that all that my card would be charged. That being I was paying with a debit card that there would be no security hold. This was a lie not only did they do a 100$ security hold even after assuring they would not they charged my debit card 169 dollars for 1 night then told me they are sorry they can issue a refund after trying to give me the run around. They said they would issue a refund and it could take up to 10 days to recieve my money back. I didn’t even stay in the room so it looked exactly as it did when they cleaned it last. They 100$ was never supposed to be charged if anything it would be a hold and go back to card after checkout. It has been absolute inconvenience to have to deal with this being hung up on being lied to and this is how they treat rewards members… So please if u want decent service and not to try and be robbed by a place of business if they will try to steal money off your bank card. Makes you wonder what eles they would be willing to do… safest bet would go to the motel right beside of them or somewhere different completely
Jun 08, 2025 · 100 BandzAfter booking we discovered bed bugs throughout the room. The rooms are filthy. There was old food and hair stuck to the floors. We shared with the front desk that there were bed bugs and the solution was to come Lysol. It was apparent this was a common complaint and no refund or discount was given after being up until nearly midnight to search our rooms and suitcases. Do not recommend.
Apr 28, 2025 · Kelli EspositoCheck in staff was nothing but annoyed I was even in the building. Not helpful. Tried refusing me service as he didn't know how to take payment from cell phone, until I insisted I taught him how. Seemed upset he couldn't deny me after he saw payment go through. Room key deactivated twice while here. Room was VERY dirty, had dog paw prints and mud on floor. Even a dried up pee spot. Bathroom has broken fixtures and roaches. Every towel I had has someone else's hair in it. Tub could not drain faster than shower filled it. Will not ever stay with any microtel based on this experience again. Back side is right against gas station that has extremely bright lights, which shine through a set of blackout curtains. Other guests were loud through 11pm. Was located close to town though.
