The Mount Royal Inn, located at 99 Howland Ave, Adams, MA 01220, USA, falls under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category and presents a complex picture based on available customer reviews. As an objective introduction, it is crucial to synthesize both positive and negative feedback to provide a balanced overview for local users considering this establishment. It appears to be a motel-style accommodation, likely catering to travelers seeking a basic, budget-friendly place to stay in Adams, Massachusetts.
The environment of the Mount Royal Inn is described by one guest as being "middle of nowhere," suggesting a somewhat secluded or rural setting. Adams, Massachusetts, itself is a town in Northern Berkshire County, known for its natural beauty, including the nearby Mount Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts. This "middle of nowhere" aspect could be a draw for those seeking quiet and a retreat from urban bustle, enjoying the natural surroundings. However, it also implies that extensive amenities or entertainment options may not be immediately available within walking distance. The location on Howland Avenue suggests it is accessible by car, which is likely essential for guests staying here to reach any local points of interest or necessities. The general environment is likely functional, focusing on providing a basic stopping point for travelers rather than a resort-like experience.
Regarding services, the feedback for Mount Royal Inn is highly contradictory. Some guests report "kind, caring and courteous" staff who were "more than accommodating." One particular positive anecdote describes staff going out of their way to assist, indicating a potential for personalized and helpful service from certain individuals. However, a significant portion of the feedback paints a starkly different picture. Reviewers describe staff as "unprofessional and disrespectful," with a notable lack of presence at the front desk at various times of the day, making it difficult to reach anyone who "works" there. Allegations of "yelling individuals screaming at customers" and using "vulgar and inappropriate names" are concerning. Furthermore, issues like not being able to obtain basic necessities like toilet paper and having hot water shut off without explanation are mentioned, indicating a severe lapse in basic guest services. The contrasting reviews suggest that the quality of service might be inconsistent or dependent on who is on duty.
The features of the Mount Royal Inn appear to be basic, aligning with a budget motel. Rooms are described as "bright and served the purpose," suggesting they are functional for sleeping and temporary stays. Specific features mentioned include "comfortable" rooms by some, while others detail a "lack of cleanliness." Basic amenities such as toilet paper are expected but sometimes reported as missing. The motel format typically means direct access to rooms from the outside, and common areas or extensive facilities like pools, fitness centers, or on-site restaurants are not indicated in the reviews. The primary feature seems to be providing a room for an overnight stay at an economical price point. The mention of "rule breaking" and frequent fire department calls due to "irresponsible tenants" hints at potential issues with property management and guest conduct, which could impact the overall comfort and safety for other guests. The presence of a "support dog" in one positive review also suggests the motel might be pet-friendly, though this is not explicitly stated as a general policy.
For promotional information, based on the highly divergent reviews, the Mount Royal Inn's promotional strategy would likely need to focus on its affordability and its simple function as a place for a short, economical stay for those passing through or needing basic lodging in Adams, MA. If the positive experiences are representative of management's intent, promotions might highlight:
However, given the strong negative feedback, any objective promotion must acknowledge the significant inconsistencies reported. Phrases like "you get what you pay for" are used by guests, indicating an expectation of very basic service due to the price point. The severe criticisms regarding professionalism, cleanliness, and accessibility of staff would pose significant challenges for positive promotion.
For local users searching "Hotels Near Of Me" who are considering the Mount Royal Inn, it is crucial to approach with caution and very low expectations. This establishment appears to be for individuals who:
In conclusion, the Mount Royal Inn in Adams, MA, seems to operate at the absolute most basic end of the accommodation spectrum. While some guests have reported positive interactions with staff and found the rooms served their purpose for an economical stay, a substantial and concerning number of reviews highlight severe deficiencies in cleanliness, management, staff conduct, and the provision of essential services. Therefore, it can only be objectively recommended for those for whom extreme budget-friendliness is the sole deciding factor, and who are prepared for a potentially "repulsive and astonishingly below any awful experience one has endured." Given the severity of the negative comments, prospective guests should "seek alternative" if comfort, consistent service, or a reliable level of cleanliness are priorities.

Mar 27, 2025 · Jon WayneDoes not even deserve a single star. Unprofessional and disrespectful doesn’t even describe this poorly run establishment. Lack of cleanliness, let alone can’t even get a toilet paper roll for the room you are paying for also is the least of the issues here. Nevermind the embarrassment of yelling individuals screaming at customers, never ever at the front desk, 0700, 1000, 1700, 2000…not even at noon. Uncanny really at that point. This place is so poorly run. Calling customers vulgar and inappropriate names because you shut their hot water off also is an under statement. It doesn’t stop there. Lucky to be able to get into the room you paid for, but if you don’t it won’t be very likely to get ahold of anyone who “works” here.. as they are too busy doing other extra curricular activities else where. And I don’t believe I mean sports teams or schooling. It’s a shame, really. I know “you get what you pay for,” and all.. yet, this is definitely repulsive and astonishingly below any awful experience one has endured. Highly recommend a different area. Lastly, misuse of the fire department being out for call due to irresponsible tenants, and “rule breaking.” All the while they have a job to do, and that should not be as frequent as multiple times a week for the above unnecessary reasons. The screaming and language bestowed onto customers is uncalled for and highly inappropriate. Seek alternative.
Mar 26, 2025 · Unknown UnknownI’ll try to make a reservation over the phone and no one answers the phone. It’s incredible that I’ve been calling more than 15 times and the phone just ring nonstop. I believe that this business doesn’t wants any business. And I believe it was for the best because I went to a different location, different hotel and it was the experience of my life.

Mar 27, 2025 · CHAD SLICKThis place is great! My husband and I work in western MA every Friday-Saturday and don't always know where we will be staying, so we usually book rooms last minute depending on where we finish the job. We found the Mount Royal Inn in Adams, MA and decided to book here based on the high ratings and affordable rooms. Check in was quick and easy. The only complaint we have was the remote control for the tv didn't work well. The beds were super comfortable and the water pressure in the shower pressure was strong! The room was very clean and we enjoyed the beautiful mountain/mine views in the morning. I would recommend this motel (with lots of delivery food options) to anyone looking for an affordable (and family owned) place to crash in western MA!
