Great location. Check-in for the hotel at the end of the bar in Zombie Taco was unexpected and really didn’t work out that well. Room was small. Basically, you stay here for the location, which is right in the middle of whiskey row. It is a busy, upbeat and noisy area - just know that when staying here.
For those exploring the vibrant heart of Louisville, especially through the lens of a "Hotels Near Of Me" search, Moxy Louisville Downtown offers a distinctive and energetic lodging experience. Situated at 100 W Washington St, Louisville, KY 40202, USA, this hotel positions itself as a modern and social hub on the renowned Whiskey Row. Its direct phone contact is (502) 874-4331, and the mobile contact is +1 502-874-4331.
Moxy Louisville Downtown is designed to be a lively and interactive space, catering to a younger, more social demographic. The overall environment is described as "fun and hip," with an eclectic and unique decor that deviates from traditional hotel aesthetics. This includes features like bare concrete ceilings and playful artwork. The lobby, often referred to as the "Living Room," serves as a central gathering point. Here, guests can find a dynamic atmosphere with various games, including vintage video games, table games, and card games like Connect 4 and Cards Against Humanity. A fireplace adds to the communal and inviting ambiance. This focus on shared spaces encourages interaction and a relaxed vibe, making it suitable for those looking to socialize or simply enjoy a vibrant setting.
However, it's important for potential guests to be aware that this upbeat environment can also translate to a noisy area, especially given its location in the middle of Whiskey Row, known for its late-night hot spots. While the concrete construction in the rooms may provide some sound insulation, the hotel's common areas and surrounding neighborhood are busy and lively. Some guests have noted that the hallways can be dark, and there have been observations of dirty common areas like refrigerators and microwaves in unexpected places, impacting the visual appeal for some.
Moxy Louisville Downtown takes a minimalist approach to certain amenities, aiming for practicality rather than extravagance. The check-in process itself is a unique feature, often taking place at the end of the bar at Zombie Taco, the on-site restaurant. While some guests find this unconventional and efficient, others have reported it to be less smooth or "stand-offish."
In terms of services, the hotel provides a 24-hour front desk and luggage storage. Complimentary amenities include furiously fast and free Wi-Fi throughout the property and in rooms, as well as a daily "Comp Coffee" offering from 6:30 AM to 10 AM. For those needing to stay active, there's a 24-hour fitness center equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Business travelers can utilize the business center, computer station, and seven meeting rooms, totaling over 11,000 square feet of event space, including a Grand Ballroom and an Outdoor Terrace. There are also coworking spaces available.
Room amenities, while minimalist, include LED TVs with cable channels and Netflix, USB outlets, air conditioning, pillowtop beds with premium bedding, and blackout drapes. Bathrooms are generally equipped with a shower and hairdryer, though some guests have noted the layout can be unconventional with partially open sections. Housekeeping services are typically provided every third day, with guests needing to dial for additional needs.
The hotel is pet-friendly, welcoming dogs weighing 50 lbs or less for a one-time, non-refundable fee of $35 at checkout. A portion of this fee contributes to the Animal Care Society, supporting other four-legged friends.
A significant feature of Moxy Louisville Downtown is its on-site dining and bar scene. Bar Moxy serves as the heartbeat of the hotel, offering craft cocktails and a space for mingling. It often hosts events like a weekly DJ series. Zombie Taco, the food-truck inspired taco joint, is open seven days a week, offering all-day and late-night dining with a menu of tacos, burritos, nachos, and taquitos. Guests can also enjoy outdoor dining on Whiskey Alley and contactless ordering via "Taco Machines."
The hotel's prime location is arguably its strongest feature. It's situated directly on Louisville's historic Whiskey Row, placing guests steps away from world-famous distilleries and vibrant late-night entertainment. This makes it an ideal spot for bourbon enthusiasts and cocktail connoisseurs. Beyond the whiskey scene, Moxy Louisville Downtown is within walking distance of many key attractions, including the KFC Yum! Center (just a 2-minute walk away), the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, the Kentucky International Convention Center, Waterfront Park on the Ohio River, the Louisville Slugger Museum, and the Muhammad Ali Center. This accessibility makes it a convenient base for exploring the city's cultural and entertainment offerings.
While specific, current promotions may vary, Moxy Hotels often offer "Day Pass, Stay Pass or Play Pass options" at select locations, which could be worth inquiring about directly with the hotel. They also frequently have a "Happy Hour" known as "Adulting Is Hard Happy Hour" with specials on drinks and food, such as $2 Chips & Salsa, cocktail specials, and $3 bottled beers, typically from Monday-Friday, 3 PM-6 PM.
Prospective guests should be aware of a few key points based on past customer feedback:
In summary, Moxy Louisville Downtown is a hotel that embraces a lively, social, and modern concept. Its unbeatable location on Whiskey Row makes it a prime choice for those looking to immerse themselves in Louisville's vibrant downtown scene. While it offers a unique and engaging environment with its bar, restaurant, and common area games, guests should manage expectations regarding room size, amenities, and the unconventional check-in process. It's a place for those who want to "play on" and experience Louisville with a contemporary, energetic twist.

Apr 28, 2025 · Charles MarangoniI would never stay at another moxy hotel in any city and would tell others to steer clear. Apart from the people I got to experience my stay with - the rest of my stay was unenjoyable. From the check in experience which was minimal and stand off ish. The hallways were dark and dirty. There were dirty refrigerators and a dirty microwave in the way of carrying luggage to your room. The room layout was awkward to be staying with anyone other than a romantic partner. The room was dirty. Debris in the corners. Build up and gunk on the back of toilet seats. Very few amenities and it’s understood that minimalism was the goal but ultimately this amount of minimalism was impractical. The staff seem to be under trained, lacking knowledge of simple hospitality concepts and they also are not empowered and under resources to make decisions that would satisfy guests requests. 0/10 experience. It’s the only part of our trip that we regret.
Mar 23, 2025 · Alexander HarbinI can’t say enough great things about Sarah, the bartender at the Moxy Hotel in Downtown Louisville. From the moment I sat down, she made me feel welcome with her warm personality and attentive service. Sarah not only crafted one of the best drinks I’ve ever had, but she also shared incredible recommendations for the taco shop in the lobby. Her suggestions were spot-on, and every bite was perfection. Her knowledge, skill, and passion for her craft truly set her apart. If you’re in Louisville, do yourself a favor and stop by to see Sarah—you won’t be disappointed! She’s the kind of bartender that elevates your experience from good to unforgettable. Five stars, hands down!
Jan 02, 2025 · Johnathan LopezNo! No! No! I have never stayed in such an awful place. No closets, no fridge no sink in the bathroom with the toliet. So use the bathroom then touch the door handles and then wash your hands. Can't shower without waking up whoever is with you. No person to actually check out. Someone at the bar asked the room number and told us to leave the key. No housekeeping the entire trip. No parking except in a lot around the corner. No ice. It's just a no!
Apr 13, 2025 · Sunny JesterThis group was outstanding. After a small stumble in plans they did more than expected to make it right. Hannah and Becca were awesome and the bartenders were great. We had a blast !
