I booked a room about a month ago and today I got an email that my reservation was canceled on my request. So I contacted Newberg inn and they said that it was not them, it was hotels.com. Next I contacted hotels.com, they said that they did not cancel anything. Customer service agent tried to reach the hotel and they hung up on her so the hotel management is being shady and lying as if it was me who requested cancellation. They were obviously overbooked and they kept taking orders and now they started canceling them a week prior to check in. Stay away from them! Now they'll get banned from the platform.

This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the Newburgh Inn, encompassing its environment, services, features, and promotional aspects, based on publicly available information and customer feedback.

Environment and Location

The Newburgh Inn is strategically situated in Newburgh, New York, a city with a rich historical background and a location that offers easy access to significant transportation hubs and local attractions. Its address on NY-17K places it within close proximity to major roadways, notably Highway 84, facilitating straightforward travel for guests arriving by car. A key advantage of the Newburgh Inn's location is its close vicinity to Stewart International Airport (SWF), typically a short 4-minute drive or approximately 1.4 to 1.5 miles away. This makes it a practical choice for air travelers.

Beyond transportation convenience, the hotel's surroundings offer various points of interest. It is located in the historical district, which contributes to the local character. Nearby attractions include Resorts World Hudson Valley, Algonquin Park, and Ice Time Sports Complex, all within a few minutes' drive. Mount Saint Mary's College Newburgh, Hamilton Fish Bridge, and the Ritz Theater are also accessible. While some older information might link it to the Village of Orange Lake, the primary focus is its direct access to Newburgh's amenities and key landmarks, such as the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum. The environment around the hotel is generally described as a leafy setting, providing a potentially quieter atmosphere despite its proximity to major routes.

Services and Amenities

The Newburgh Inn offers a range of services and amenities designed to cater to a diverse clientele, from leisure travelers to business guests. The hotel features 120 air-conditioned rooms, accessible via exterior corridors, ensuring a degree of privacy and direct access. Each room is equipped with essential comforts, including a 25-inch flat-screen television with cable channels for entertainment, a private bathroom with a bathtub or shower and a hair dryer (available upon request), and practical items like an iron/ironing board and a desk. Guests can stay connected with complimentary wireless internet access available in all rooms and public areas. Refrigerators are also provided in rooms, offering convenience for storing snacks and beverages. Daily housekeeping services contribute to maintaining a clean and comfortable environment.

For the convenience of its guests, the Newburgh Inn provides a 24-hour front desk. Luggage storage is available, which can be beneficial for guests with varying check-in or check-out times. For corporate events, meetings, or social gatherings, the hotel boasts a significant event space. It features a conference center with approximately 3,003 square feet (279 square meters) of space, including a ballroom and banquet hall. This makes it suitable for hosting various functions. A business center, possibly with copiers and personal computers, is also available to cater to business needs. While some older information mentioned an in-house restaurant and a lounge bar, more recent reviews and details suggest that a complimentary breakfast may not always be provided, and guests might need to explore dining options in the surrounding area. There is, however, a vending machine on-site for quick refreshments. The hotel also offers free self-parking for guests. It is generally a smoke-free property, though designated smoking areas might be present. The hotel's pet policy indicates that only service animals are typically allowed, with other pets potentially incurring charges or having restrictions. Guests should inquire directly about pet policies.

Features and Unique Aspects

A significant characteristic of the Newburgh Inn is its history as the former Hudson Valley Hotel and Conference Center. This change in identity and management has been a focal point in recent customer feedback, with some reviews indicating a positive transformation in the hotel's condition and service quality under new ownership. The presence of robust conference facilities, including a ballroom and meeting rooms, stands out as a key feature, making it a viable option for organizations and individuals planning events in the region. The hotel's location offers a blend of accessibility to major transport routes and proximity to cultural and recreational sites in Newburgh. While older information may hint at an outdoor pool, current data suggests the Newburgh Inn does not have one. However, it does offer a fitness center, although some reviews suggest it might be undergoing renovations or not fully operational. The multilingual staff (English, French, Hindi, Spanish) further enhances the guest experience by accommodating a broader range of international travelers. The availability of connecting/adjoining rooms can be a useful feature for families or larger groups traveling together.

Promotional Information and Guest Experience

As a "Hotels Near Of Me" listing, the Newburgh Inn aims to attract guests looking for convenient and value-oriented accommodation in the Newburgh, NY area. Pricing can vary based on seasonality, with April and October sometimes offering more competitive rates. Weekday stays, particularly on Wednesdays or Sundays, might also present better deals compared to Fridays.

Customer reviews for the Newburgh Inn present a mixed but evolving picture. Some recent feedback highly praises the hotel, describing the environment as "very good," clean and sanitary, and highlighting a sense of safety. A particular positive note mentions the enthusiastic and helpful front desk staff, suggesting an improvement in customer service. This indicates a positive shift, possibly attributed to new management or ownership, where guests feel well-received and comfortable.

However, it is also important to acknowledge more critical reviews, which raise significant concerns. One specific complaint details issues with reservation cancellations through third-party booking platforms, alleging unreliability from the hotel's management regarding booking confirmation and communication. This review describes a situation where a guest's reservation was canceled without their request, leading to frustration and a lack of accountability between the hotel and the booking platform. This highlights a potential area where the hotel's operational efficiency and communication with booking partners may need reinforcement to ensure a seamless guest journey.

Given these varied experiences, prospective guests are advised to check the most current reviews and, if booking through a third-party site, consider confirming their reservation directly with the Newburgh Inn to avoid potential discrepancies. Despite some negative feedback, the recent positive comments suggest that the Newburgh Inn is making efforts to enhance its guest experience, particularly concerning cleanliness and staff interactions. The hotel continues to offer essential amenities and a convenient location, aiming to be a practical and welcoming choice for those visiting Newburgh, NY.

The environment here is very good. Clean and sanitary. I feel safe living here. There is a handsome guy at the front desk. He is very enthusiastic. If necessary, I will stay here again.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND THE OWNER!!!!!!! I made a last minute reservation online via a third party for this hotel stay; I'm currently in the military and this place was very convenient; the price was good and they had the availability for 2 nights. I deliberately selected the option to reserve now and pay at the facility upon checking in; Check-in is at 3pm. Something in my gut wasn't sitting right so I booked it with a card that had no money on it. the morning of the day I was supposed to check in, I got a message from the hotel stating that my card couldn't be charged and the payment couldn't be processed. I sent back a message stating that I would be paying when I come to check in. There was no response back. On April 4, 2025, I arrived at the hotel to check in. The first thing I noticed was the smell; the entire lobby smelled like cigarettes. There was no one at the front desk, but there was a bell that you could ring, I'm assuming to get the attention of someone that works there. Before touching the bell, I noticed that someone was sitting in a room behind the counter so I called for him. ....and I kept calling, louder and louder each time. Eventually, I picked up the bell and rang it. There was no urgency in the guy even looking in my direction. When he finally came to the desk, he informed me that my card didn't go though and that I needed to provide another one. I thought it was strange that he didn't ask for my name and that he just "knew" that information. I gave him my card and he immediately opened his copy machine and attempted to make a copy of my credit card. Before he could close the top down, I asked what he was doing. He let me know he was "taking a picture of my card to send it to someone in West Point to see why my card didn't go through." After telling him to give me back my card, he questioned me and I said that I didn't know who he was sending my information to. I then let him know that the card I used to hold the reservation wasn't the same card I was giving him for the payment. I then questioned why he didn't/couldn't just swipe my card at the facility since I was physically there. His response was that he had to call to see why my card (the one I gave him when I arrived) didn't go through and that his person in West Point had to do it because he didn't know how to use the system. After some back and forth, he suggested that I be the one to call and give me card number over the phone. I again said no and he asked me to wait a minute while he called someone else to "help". When the other guy came, he asked me for my name then asked me for a different form of payment so he could charge me. So I asked him why there was such a drastic difference between what he said and what the other guy previously said. His response "he doesn't know what he's doing." So I said that someone who doesn't know how the system operates shouldn't be at the front checking people in. Before anything else could be said, the first guy picks up a sheet of paper with someones drivers license copied onto it, holds it up and says, "see, we need a copy of all your ID and other information to keep it on file. I'm the owner, I know what I'm doing and I know what I'm talking about." Before leaving I said, "you're the owner and you don't now how your hotel operates. What kind of scam are you running where you need to take a picture of someone's credit card BEFORE asking them for their name or ID and who's falling for this." I asked for my reservation to be cancelled and I left. I've never had ANY hotel front desk ask me for my credit card before asking me for my name and ID. That's not common. I think even if my card went through earlier that afternoon, I would have just taken an L and gone somewhere else. When I went over to the Hampton Inn, the receptionist there informed me that the older guy (the one claiming to be the owner), pays for and stays at the Hampton when he needs a hotel. He also trash talks his own establishment saying that he doesn't like being there and he'll never stay there even though it's free for him.

The new owners are making an effort to renovate some rooms. Ours had new flooring, very nice new shower, great rain shower head. It was very clean. The furniture was comfortable. There is an outdoor pool on the property and a cute gazebo, but they haven't been updated yet. Despite being near the highway it was quiet in our room. The other guests were also quiet and polite. The lobby still has shortcomings. Lots of potential and I expect continued improvements. I would stay there again.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was super friendly. They were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed when we needed it. The hotel is under some renovations but the owners are doing their best to make it so comfortable and clean which is easily accomplished. It’s located in a very convenient area right in the middle of plenty of restaurants and stores as well as gas stations. Don’t pass this place up!
