Horrific Experience – Do Not Stay Here I had an awful experience at this hotel. First, my room was infested with bugs, which made it impossible to relax or sleep comfortably. When I first got to my room after checking in, there were 5 people standing around in a circle at the end of my hallway passing around and smoking a crack pipe. When we left the room to grab dinner, there were 2 naked babies crawling around the hall with no one else in sight! To make matters worse, I heard gunshots nearby during the night, which left me feeling completely unsafe. The lack of cleanliness and security is unacceptable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel can be contacted at (845) 275-0111 or +1 845-275-0111. An objective introduction to this property, combining officially stated features with insights from recent guest reviews, is crucial for an informed decision.
The Ramada by Wyndham Newburgh/West Point is strategically located in the Hudson Valley, offering accessibility to several regional points of interest. It is situated close to Interstates 84 and 87, providing relatively easy access for travelers by car. Stewart International Airport (SWF) is approximately four miles away, and the hotel has historically offered airport transfer services, though additional charges may apply and it's advisable to confirm availability. Other notable nearby destinations include the United States Military Academy at West Point (about 1.4 miles away), Orange County Choppers (1.2 miles away), and Woodbury Common Premium Outlets (approximately 27.8 miles). For those interested in arts and culture, Dia Beacon and Storm King Art Center are also within a reasonable driving distance.
The general area around the hotel features a mix of commercial establishments and access to the wider Newburgh landscape. The property itself is a two-story building. While promotional materials might suggest a standard hotel environment, recent guest reviews frequently describe a challenging atmosphere. Guests have reported instances of public disturbances, including individuals smoking crack pipes in hallways, and the presence of "naked babies crawling around the hall with no one else in sight." There have also been concerning reports of "gunshots nearby during the night," raising significant safety concerns. Multiple reviews indicate that the hotel may be housing individuals involved in various "programs," including refugees, drug addicts, and homeless people, which has fundamentally altered the typical hotel guest experience. The lobby area has been described as having a bullet-proof glass enclosure at the front desk, which can create an intimidating first impression. Hallways have been noted to smell of marijuana, and there are complaints of general uncleanliness and noise disturbances persisting into the early morning hours.
According to official listings, the Ramada by Wyndham Newburgh/West Point offers a range of services and amenities. These include a 24-hour front desk, a business center, and meeting facilities. The hotel features 2,555 square feet (237 square meters) of conference space across three meeting rooms, suggesting suitability for various events or business gatherings. Free wired and wireless internet access is typically advertised throughout the property, including in guest rooms. An outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center are also listed as amenities. The hotel has an on-site restaurant, Cafe International, which is noted to feature a bar/lounge. Historically, the hotel provided a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast. However, recent guest feedback indicates that the breakfast room may be unavailable to transient hotel guests, being exclusively for those staying as part of certain programs.
Additional listed services include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and a vending machine. Room service is also available during limited hours. While the hotel aims to provide standard guest services, the actual experience, as reported by recent guests, has been severely impacted by the reported environmental issues. The presence of dirty linens, stained carpets, moldy rooms, and roaches significantly detracts from any advertised service quality. Some reviews suggest that staff may be friendly, but this seems to be overshadowed by the pervasive issues within the property.
The Ramada by Wyndham Newburgh/West Point comprises 149 rooms. Standard room features typically include air conditioning, refrigerators, microwaves, and flat-screen TVs with cable programming. Private bathrooms are equipped with shower/tub combinations and complimentary toiletries. Rooms are also stated to have desks and provide complimentary wireless internet access. Some rooms may feature deep soaking bathtubs. The hotel has non-smoking and smoking rooms, and some listings mention "soundproofed rooms" which, given the reported noise levels, may or may not be effective. While some official descriptions suggest spacious and tastefully decorated rooms, recent reviews paint a starkly different picture, detailing "bugs," "cockroaches," "deteriorated ceilings," and "paint chipping off of the walls." Issues with basic functionality, such as lack of hot water and non-working reading lamps, have also been reported.
The overall condition and maintenance of the property appear to be a major concern, as indicated by the "deplorable" living conditions and "unfit" state described by customers. The hotel's designation as a "government shelter for poor migrants and welfare recipients" or a "refugee camp" by numerous reviewers fundamentally changes its operational model and the experience for typical travelers. This shift has led to an environment where security and cleanliness are perceived as severely lacking, with instances of "people fighting, screaming, throwing stuff, cops had to show up."
Based on public information, Ramada by Wyndham often offers various promotions, including discounts for Wyndham Rewards members, AARP members, and AAA members, as well as seasonal sales for extended stays. These typically include percentage-off discounts on standard rates. The brand also promotes earning points towards free nights and bundles for flights and car rentals. However, considering the overwhelming and severe negative feedback from recent guests, prospective visitors searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" should exercise extreme caution and consider these reviews as primary information for their decision-making.
The consistent themes of bug infestations (including cockroaches and ants), unsafe conditions (gunshots, crack pipe usage, unsecured children), extreme noise, and a general lack of cleanliness and basic hotel functionality are critical concerns that directly contradict the expectation of a safe and comfortable stay. While the hotel's location offers proximity to Stewart International Airport and West Point, the reported environment suggests it may not be suitable for most travelers seeking a standard hotel experience. The promotional aspects, such as free breakfast and on-site amenities, are significantly undermined by the reported living conditions and perceived safety hazards. Local users are strongly advised to consider the severe negative reviews before booking any stay at the Ramada by Wyndham Newburgh/West Point.

Dec 31, 2024 · Michael AlvaradoThis hotel was the worst and most disgusting I've ever been to. The loving conditions here are deplorable to say the nicest. If you stay here, I hope you like junkies in the hall and unsafe rooms full of cockroaches.
Apr 03, 2025 · Cassii AuerThis was the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Bugs were all over the place in our room. They were crawling out of the toilet, shower, towels, everywhere. The room smelt like cigarettes. Large buckets of dirty water all over the hallways from leaks. I did not feel safe. My husband moved all of the room furniture in front of the door for security. I was charged over $400 after taxes for one night and we left after only a few hours because it was so awful. I didn’t brush my teeth, shower, even use the bathroom the few hours we were there because it was that bad. They wouldn’t give an immediate refund with my complaints so I am waiting for management to call back. Edit: after multiple calls and emails, the hotel would only offer 20% off our next stay. Wyndham “couldn’t” give a refund because their hotels are privately owned.
Nov 12, 2024 · Jessica TomshawSo if your a truck driver and are needing a place kinda cheap here you go. It's old, it's smelly, it has some strange people lurking in the shadows or asking for a cigarette out front with that great skunk weed floating in the air. But it was cleanish and you can eat good at Denny's next door. Truck parking in back could hold maybe 6 trucks with TRL.
Feb 26, 2025 · Scott SlezakThis hotel is being used as a shelter. When we arrived, their were police cars parked outside. But there was no hotel security after the police left. There were unsupervised children running up and down the hallway on the first floor. We booked a non-smoking room, but the people across the hall from us were smoking weed in their room. People were talking loudly and arguing in the hallways for a few hours. The noise did quiet down overnight. But children were in the hallways again about 8:30 in the morning. It's a shame because we were only booked there for one night, and the room was not that bad. We had a king size bed in a clean room. We had a desk and a mini fridge. The bathroom was clean and stocked with towels, but the tub was old and there were cracks around the drain. But I would not recommend this hotel.
