Do Not stay here. My wife and I arrived and found 2 ticks in our bed. I have Lyme disease and this could put my health at further risk and management could not care less. Upon entering unit 823, there is a mildew smell and we opened the closet door which immediately fell off its track and hit my dog. My wife and I asked for a refund 15 minutes after arriving as we did not feel clean or safe here. The management company said there hands were tied and refused to give us any money back for a 3-day stay ($1450). We have never been mistreated like this before and we are very upset. We hope the owner does the right thing and reads this as this is not how you treat people.
For those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Hamptons area, specifically Amagansett, New York, the Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club, located at 2004 Montauk Hwy, Amagansett, NY 11930, USA, presents itself as a notable option. As a resort focusing on beach and recreational activities, it aims to provide a comprehensive vacation experience. However, an objective introduction based on recent customer reviews reveals a stark contrast in guest experiences, presenting both highly positive aspects and severe concerns that prospective guests must weigh carefully.
The environment of Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club evokes a dual impression based on the provided reviews. On one hand, the location is undeniably a major draw. Being an "oceanfront resort" means the "beach is steps away," offering immediate and convenient access to the shoreline, which is a significant advantage for any coastal getaway. This proximity contributes to a "very secluded, chill atmosphere," appealing to those seeking tranquility. The outdoor areas appear to be well-maintained, with a "warm" and "super fun for kids" pool. The "beach personnel" are described as "very organized," suggesting an orderly and well-managed beachfront. On the other hand, a highly critical review highlights severe environmental issues within specific units, including a "mildew smell" upon entering unit 823, indicative of potential moisture or cleanliness problems. This particular unit also had a closet door that "immediately fell off its track," suggesting structural or maintenance issues. The overall cleanliness within some units is sharply contrasted, with one reviewer finding the place "very clean" and "newer," while another reported "2 ticks in our bed," which is a significant and alarming health concern. This discrepancy suggests that while some rooms may have been updated and are well-maintained, consistency across all units might be an issue, leading to a potentially jarring difference in guest experience. This stark contrast makes it difficult to give a uniform description of the overall environment, as it seems to depend heavily on the specific unit assigned.
The services at Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club also present a mixed picture. Positive feedback emphasizes excellent communication and helpfulness from staff members like Hammil, who was "so amazing in answering all questions, providing suggestions and spent probably a solid 15 mins walking us though everything over the phone." This indicates a strong dedication to pre-arrival guest support and a proactive approach to guest inquiries. Once on-site, the staff is described as being "there when we needed something," yet maintaining a "very secluded" presence, allowing for a relaxed and unintrusive stay. However, a severe negative experience involved management's response to the reported ticks and mildew smell. The guest reported that "management could not care less" about the tick discovery and "refused to give us any money back for a 3-day stay ($1450)" just 15 minutes after arrival, citing that "their hands were tied." This highlights a potentially rigid and unaccommodating refund policy and a lack of empathy or resolution when faced with significant guest discomfort and health concerns. Such a stark contrast in service experiences suggests that while some staff members are highly commendable, the overall management response to critical issues may be severely lacking, leading to "mistreatment" and significant upset for guests.
The features of Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club, as implied by its name, heavily revolve around beach and tennis amenities. The "Beach and Tennis Club" designation signifies the presence of tennis courts, which are a key recreational feature for guests. The resort boasts a "warm" and "super fun for kids" pool, indicating a family-friendly atmosphere around the aquatic facilities. The "private beach" access is a premium feature, allowing guests exclusive use of the shoreline, complemented by "very organized" beach personnel who likely assist with setting up chairs or providing other beach-related services. Units generally offer the convenience of private balconies or patios, and many include kitchen facilities, allowing for self-catering. While not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews, such resorts typically offer amenities like cable TV, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning in their units. However, the negative review's mention of a "closet door which immediately fell off its track" in unit 823 points to potential maintenance issues within the rooms themselves, suggesting that while some rooms might be "newer," others might be in need of repairs. The presence of these amenities, particularly the beach and pool, are strong selling points, but the inconsistencies in room condition and potential health hazards (ticks) are significant drawbacks that must be considered.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not detail specific current promotions or packages. However, the mention of a "$1450" cost for a "3-day stay" suggests that the Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club operates at a higher price point, aligning with its desirable Hamptons location and resort-style amenities. The positive experience of a "room was newer, very clean" suggests that some units have been updated, which could be part of ongoing investments to maintain its appeal. For the most accurate and up-to-date promotional offers, including any seasonal discounts, special packages for longer stays, or deals for specific amenities like tennis court access, interested parties should directly contact Ocean Colony Beach and Tennis Club at (631) 267-3130 or +1 631-267-3130. Given the severe negative experience reported by one guest concerning ticks and unhelpful management, potential guests are strongly advised to inquire thoroughly about the cleanliness protocols, pest control measures, and refund policies before booking, especially if they are concerned about health risks or the potential for dissatisfaction. While the positive aspects of the location, beach access, and some staff members are appealing, the significant and serious concerns raised in one review warrant careful consideration for anyone searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" and contemplating a stay at this property.

Aug 21, 2024 · Scott FarrellHammil has been so amazing in answering all questions, providing suggestions and spent probably a solid 15 mins walking us though everything over the phone. The place exceed all expectations, our room was newer, very clean. The beach is steps away, the beach personnel is very organized. The pool was warm, and super fun for kids. Teh biggest things the stuff was there when we needed something, but at the same time very secluded, chill atmosphere
Jun 05, 2024 · Yana RepinaWe love this place so much, and return every year. This place is a great mix of hotel and airbnb style stay. You have shared amenities such as a pool, game room, beach and tennis courts and laundry room; but enjoy the comforts of an airbnb or private residence such as a private kitchenette, private balcony, and private living room for playing games or watching a movie after a long day at the beach or in the pool. It is also close to Montauk and Amagansett which have nice restaurants, coffee shops and excursions. There are also two restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay for a Hamptons vacation.
Aug 13, 2024 · Robyn BaldwinWe arrived to have to call someone to check us in. There is no reception. Had a very hard time getting through. Beach was beautiful, friendly staff, the gentleman that put our chairs on the beach. I give a 5 star he was so friendly and played with our boys. Now, the bedroom is another story. There is no AC in the bedroom it was a rough hot night. On top of that, we did not get any sleep. The quests above us had no consideration on other hotel guests. They were noisy a lot of banging from the ceiling. They then arrived at 4:30 am and again were very loud.
Sep 04, 2023 · Heather MillsI've stayed here for two years in a row now and hopefully for many more to come! The location is fantastic, the private beach access is wonderful. It's quiet, family-oriented and the room balconies are such a nice perk. Right down the road from a seafood shack and Goldberg's bagels, and a quick drive to the center of Montauk or popular restaurants/bars. This year, our stay was affected by Hurricane Henri. We had to leave early for safety reasons; Ocean Colony originally wanted to credit us for a future stay, but after speaking with management they were able to give us a full refund for the night. Their excellent customer service is duly noted and I highly recommend choosing here for your Hamptons visit! Thank you Ocean Colony!
