Basic rooms. Ours had an air conditioner. Get and ocean facing room. That’s the reason to stay here. Beautiful grounds and patio with charcoal grills and tables. Amazing gardens to explore in front. Funky art installations too. This was a last minute booking while on the road to take a day trip to Montauk. Staff was super helpful and friendly. We only stayed the one night, but wished it could have been more! If you’re looking for simple, quiet and relaxing, close to Montauk, this is the place! We are adding it to our list of local “staycation” spots!

White Sands Resort Hotel Introduce

For local users exploring options on platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Hamptons area, specifically Amagansett, the White Sands Resort Hotel presents itself as a compelling oceanfront choice. Located at 28 Shore Rd, Amagansett, NY 11930, USA, and reachable at (631) 267-3350 or +1 631-267-3350, this hotel offers a direct connection to the Atlantic Ocean, making it a desirable destination for beach lovers and those seeking a tranquil escape.

The White Sands Resort Hotel is primarily recognized for its prime oceanfront location. It's often described as a place for a "simple, quiet and relaxing" getaway, particularly appealing to those looking to "avoid the 'busy'" atmosphere that can characterize other parts of the Hamptons. The hotel appears to have undergone renovations within the last 10 years, suggesting a commitment to maintaining its facilities, even if the rooms are perceived as "basic" by some. It aims to provide a comfortable, no-frills experience where the natural beauty of the surroundings takes center stage. While some might view it as an "alternative" to more traditional, larger hotels, its unique appeal lies in its direct beach access and serene environment.

The environment of the White Sands Resort Hotel is undeniably its strongest asset. Being "nearly level with the beach front," it offers "a great view of the ocean," particularly from ocean-facing rooms. The property boasts "beautiful grounds" and "amazing gardens to explore in front," which are meticulously maintained and feature "funky art installations." These outdoor spaces are equipped with a "patio with charcoal grills and tables," encouraging guests to enjoy al fresco dining and relaxation amidst the natural beauty. The hotel is situated in a "small neighborhood of really cute homes," contributing to a quiet and residential feel, even on weekends, which is a significant "plus" for those seeking peace. The immediate access to the ocean and the expansive beach is the defining environmental feature, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the coastal landscape of Amagansett.

The services at White Sands Resort Hotel are generally described as helpful and friendly. The staff is consistently praised for being "super helpful and friendly," ensuring a welcoming experience upon arrival and throughout the stay. The rooms, while considered "basic" by some, are equipped with essential amenities, including air conditioning. Getting an "ocean facing room" is highly recommended, as it directly capitalizes on the hotel's prime location and provides the main reason for staying there. The hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi, allowing guests to stay connected. For outdoor enjoyment, the provision of charcoal grills and tables on the patio is a valuable service, enabling guests to cook and dine outdoors. However, one notable point of contention raised by a past guest is the frequent questioning by staff about whether they were staying at the hotel, particularly when using the beach entrance. While this might be a security measure, the review suggests it can become "incredibly annoying" and impact the guest experience. Despite this specific friction, the overall sentiment regarding staff interaction leans positive, focusing on their helpfulness and friendliness in general situations.

Key features of the White Sands Resort Hotel heavily emphasize its outdoor amenities and direct beach access. The "ocean facing room" option is a crucial feature, delivering on the promise of a coastal retreat. The "beautiful grounds and patio with charcoal grills and tables" provide excellent opportunities for outdoor leisure and dining. The "amazing gardens" with "funky art installations" offer a unique aesthetic and a pleasant area for strolling and relaxation. The hotel's quiet location, even on weekends, is a significant feature for those looking to escape the typical Hamptons bustle. Its proximity to Montauk (ideal for a "day trip") makes it a convenient base for exploring the wider East End of Long Island. While the rooms are generally described as "basic," their functionality and inclusion of air conditioning are important features for comfort. The hotel appeals to those seeking a "simple, quiet and relaxing" experience rather than a luxurious, amenity-rich resort. It is often seen as a practical option for those seeking a tranquil escape, particularly for "NYC crowds" who might be looking for alternatives when other traditional hotels are fully booked.

Regarding promotional information, while specific current offers were not detailed in the prompt, the White Sands Resort Hotel's appeal lies in its unique value proposition as an oceanfront escape. It likely promotes itself as a "staycation" spot for locals or a serene alternative to more crowded destinations. However, a crucial aspect to note from customer feedback is the pricing. One reviewer found the "price/performance here sucks!" and felt the "high prices are to be expected anywhere in this town or area, but it’s still excessive." They also mentioned that a "drift wood hotel down the road was less expensive with larger, more modern rooms." This suggests that the hotel's pricing strategy might capitalize on demand, particularly during peak seasons like Labor Day weekend. Therefore, while it offers a quiet escape and direct beach access, potential guests should be prepared for what some perceive as high costs for "basic rooms," especially when compared to other local options. It's advisable for guests to check current rates and compare them to their expectations for a "simple, quiet and relaxing" beachfront experience.

Customer reviews for the White Sands Resort Hotel highlight both its strong points and areas for consideration. Positives consistently mention the "beautiful grounds and patio," "amazing gardens," and the overall "simple, quiet and relaxing" atmosphere. The staff is generally found to be "super helpful and friendly," contributing to a positive experience for short stays. The direct access to the ocean and the "great view" from ocean-facing rooms are major advantages. However, the hotel is seen by some as overpriced for its "basic rooms," with one reviewer explicitly stating "price/performance here sucks!" and finding the costs "excessive" compared to other local options. The most notable negative feedback revolves around the "annoying" and "incredibly annoying" habit of staff constantly asking guests if they are staying at the hotel, particularly at the beach entrance. Despite this specific annoyance, the hotel remains a popular choice for those seeking a peaceful, beachfront escape in Amagansett, especially when prioritizing tranquility and direct access to the ocean over extensive in-room luxury or competitive pricing.

Sorry for the 3 star review, but the price/performance here sucks! I stayed over labor day weekend with my brother and his wife that was visiting from the left coast. I can’t recommend this one because they knowingly pray on the folks that can’t find rooms in larger, more traditional hotels. The high prices are to be expected anywhere in this town or area, but it’s still excessive. The drift wood hotel down the road was less expensive with larger, more modern rooms. BUT, if you’re looking to avoid the “busy” and you want somewhat of an escape, then this place might work. The hotel is clearly aimed at the NYC crowds. I think most end up here when there are no other options available. And that statement is NOT meant to be negative. It appears that it was also renovated within the last 10 years or so. It’s nice, but nothing special. The White Sands (nothing white about the sand there). It’s situated nearly level with the beach front which provides a great view of the ocean. It’s located in a small neighborhood of really cute homes that are priced like estates (lots of “for sale” signs). It’s surprisingly quiet on the weekends, which is a big plus. One thing that really bothered me about this place was the staff. They constantly asked if we were staying there just about every single time we traveled through the hotel’s beach entrance. Believe me, I know it seems petty, but it gets incredibly annoying when it’s 95 degrees out, the sun is blinding you and baking you to an extra crispy crust. After the 2nd or 3rd time, you want to shake them and say, “I don’t have time to respond to your stupid questions. I’m on the way to the beach. Please stop asking! I’m baking at 500 degrees and trying to make it to the ocean, so please leave me the fudge along!”.

For more than 30 years our family has experienced "elegant simplicity" at White Sands Resort. The accommodations and staff are excellent and friendly. It reminds you of a European Guesthouse by the Atlantic Ocean. White Sands is a great place to rest, relax, and get in touch with nature and the ocean. What more would you need? It is simply perfection.

Love the location - not many people and peaceful neighborhood. Rooms are simple but everything you need. Public space with grills are mixed with privet. Never had problems with the other guests though.

Great location-right on the beach- with beautiful ocean views. Rooms are simple but immaculately clean. Staff is always very friendly and accommodating.
