Place was nice. Owner was easy-going. The house was lacking in some modern amenities. No cable or Internet. I think you really need one or the other - especially considering that other rentals have both and are priced the same. Just fine for a night or two. Well water is a bit copper-y smelling, most likely from older plumbing.

Located at 36053 Lake St, Union City, PA 16438, USA, this establishment primarily offers cottage accommodations and boat rentals, catering to those who desire a more independent and nature-centric vacation experience by the lake. Communication with the property can be established via phone at (814) 694-2020 or mobile at +1 814-694-2020.

Environment and Location:

Pier 66 Lake Front Cottages & Boat Rentals is situated directly on or very close to the lakefront, providing guests with immediate access to the water. The surrounding environment is characterized by the natural beauty of the lake, which is likely Canadohta Lake, a known recreational area in the region. This setting offers opportunities for fishing, boating, and enjoying the serene ambiance of a lakeside getaway. The appeal of such a location lies in its ability to remove visitors from the urban grind, offering a quieter, more laid-back atmosphere. Guests can expect a simple, natural setting, potentially with older, established infrastructure that aligns with a traditional cottage vacation experience.

Services and Amenities:

The core services offered by Pier 66 Lake Front Cottages & Boat Rentals revolve around providing self-contained cottage accommodations and facilitating water-based activities through boat rentals. Based on available information and past guest reviews, the amenities provided tend to be basic, focusing on functionality rather than modern luxuries. For instance, one review explicitly mentions the lack of cable or Internet, which might be a significant consideration for some travelers in today's connected world. This suggests that the cottages are likely equipped with essential facilities for a comfortable stay, such as beds and a kitchen, but guests should not anticipate extensive technological or entertainment options within the units.

The boat rentals are a key draw for this property, indicating that guests have the opportunity to explore the lake directly. This service is crucial for those planning activities like fishing, leisurely boat rides, or simply enjoying the lake from the water. While detailed information about the types of boats available is not provided, the name "Pier 66 Lake Front Cottages & Boat Rentals" strongly suggests a direct and convenient boat rental service on-site.

Features:

The primary feature of Pier 66 Lake Front Cottages & Boat Rentals is its lakefront location, which provides direct access to water recreation. The cottages offer a private, self-catering experience, appealing to those who prefer more independence than a traditional hotel. The "easy-going" nature of the owner, as noted in one review, suggests a relaxed and informal management style, which some guests might appreciate. The presence of boat rentals directly from the property is a significant convenience for guests eager to spend time on the water. The establishment likely aims to provide a nostalgic, classic cottage vacation feel, where the focus is on outdoor activities and enjoying the natural surroundings rather than elaborate indoor amenities.

However, it is important to address some features highlighted in customer reviews that potential visitors should be aware of:

  • Modern Amenities: As mentioned, a review indicates a lack of cable or Internet, which could impact guests' entertainment and connectivity needs. This points to a more rustic or unplugged vacation experience.
  • Water Quality: One review notes a "copper-y smelling" well water, possibly due to older plumbing. While not necessarily a health concern, this is a detail that some guests might find important.
  • Reservation Process and Trustworthiness: A significant concern raised in a detailed review points to a highly negative experience with the reservation process, involving miscommunication, denial of a reservation, and an unhelpful attitude from the staff. This particular review strongly advises against recommending the company due to perceived unprofessionalism and untrustworthiness. This is a critical piece of information for prospective guests, suggesting that meticulous confirmation of bookings is essential.

Promotional Information:

Without official promotional materials, information about specific deals or packages is not available. However, the core promotional appeal of Pier 66 Lake Front Cottages & Boat Rentals lies in its direct proposition: a lakefront getaway with the convenience of on-site boat rentals. This would naturally attract individuals and families looking for:

  • A Lakeside Vacation: The direct access to the lake and boat rentals is the main selling point, catering to those interested in fishing, boating, or simply enjoying the water.
  • Rustic and Simple Retreat: For guests who prioritize disconnecting from modern distractions and embracing a simpler, nature-focused vacation, the lack of extensive modern amenities might even be a desirable feature.
  • Private Cottage Experience: Unlike a traditional hotel, cottages offer more privacy and the flexibility to prepare meals, which can be appealing for families or extended stays.
  • Direct Booking: The mentioned payment methods (cash upon arrival or mailed in advance) suggest a more traditional, direct booking approach, bypassing larger online travel agencies for some transactions, which might appeal to those who prefer direct communication with property owners.

Prospective guests considering Pier 66 Lake Front Cottages & Boat Rentals, especially when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," should temper their expectations regarding modern conveniences and prioritize the opportunity for a lake-centric, rustic experience. It is highly advisable to communicate directly and thoroughly with the property via phone to confirm all booking details, availability, and specific amenities to ensure a smooth and satisfactory stay, particularly given the mixed feedback from past customers regarding reservation experiences.

If I could rate it zero stars, I would, but google won’t allow it. One star is above what this company is worth. I had a horrible experience with this company. I called the previous weekend and spoke with the owner in regards to renting a cabin/cottage. When I first called, he didn’t have his book in front of him and asked me to call him back in 30 minutes. I did this. After calling back, he stated there were two cabins available and recommended I viewed them online before deciding which one I wanted. I did this and called him back with my decision. I asked him many questions in regards to the cabin as well as social distancing, since I was traveling with a newborn. He was very polite on the phone and answered all of my questions appropriately. He then gave me the total price, as well as the amount for deposit and advised that they did not take cards. He stated I could pay in advance (by mail) or pay cash when I arrived. I told him I would pay cash upon arrival. I then verified that we would be there the day requested at check in time, even stating that when we arrived, there may be another cabin that had opened if we preferred it. I then asked if he needed any further info for the reservation and he stated name and phone number were sufficient, and he had both. And then stated “see ya friday”. I loaded up my car, along with 2 children and drove the 3 hours to the cabin. Upon arriving, we were greeted by the female, who looked completely shocked that we were there. She then went to go get the male. He comes up from what appears to be the dock area, with an attitude from the start. First thing he says is, “we don’t have an open cabin”. I explained I had a reservation and I spoke with him. He basically denied the whole thing and argued that no reservation was made and he didn’t say any of the previous stuff. He made no attempted to resolve the solution, and just had a bigger and bigger attitude as the conversation went on. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. I made the mistake of ignoring the previous reviews, as I know every business has bad days. Don’t make the same mistake I did. They are not professional or trustworthy whatsoever and completely ruined my “weekend getaway” with my family.

It was a terrible experience this year. We have rented cottages from Todd whom we have learned his place is for sale and it shows how much lack of interest he has in the upkeep.. He has gotten more arrogant and more attitude every year which is disheartening for a long time returning customer. He spoke to my elderly mother in a condescending manner and made her feel uncomfortable. We stayed at the red barn this year which is advertised as sleeps 6 but every year members of my family take turns visiting for one or 2 nights. My mother reminded him of that. The 2nd night we stayed he decided to knock on our door threatening us to leave and using foul language Towards us. We explained his sign posted in the cottage asked a fee for guests which we had no problem paying but he was too busy cursing us out so we asked for a refund. He stormed away. Prior to this we did rent a pontoon and the motor kept failing there was barely any gas in it. He complained about a shade shelter I had in the yard to protect my newborn from the sun so I took it down. The yard was infested with yellow jackets and poison ivy. Inside the cottage the water smelt terrible, there was exposed wires and no railings on the unsafe cinder block steps. It was covered in wolf spiders all over and by the end of the week I had more flea bites welts on my ankles than mosquito bites. I'm not sure but we will disinfect all bedding because there was suspicion of bed bugs. We are so disappointed. We will never rent from Todd again. Wish luck to the new owners and hope todds reputation doesn't follow them.

We went there for a week a few years ago and the cottage was horrible! It was old, smelly, and just awful. We tried all of the beds because the one we first laid on was horrible, it had to be 50 years old. You could feel the springs, it was terrible, and we tried the rest of the beds and they were all the same. The refrigerator had rust all over the front of it, the floors were old and peeling, the place was just absolutely horrible. I asked many people in town and they said that Pier 66 has had a horrible reputation for years and years. Everyone in town knows not to stay there, but unfortunately for me looking around and booking online sight unseen, I totally got ripped off! DO NOT STAY THERE!
