This is a nicely appointed hotel in a convenient location. The evening front desk staff (Joel) was incredibly helpful and pleasant. The breakfast is stellar. But …. 2 stars. We asked for a non-smoking room (how is this still necessary?). It was like sleeping in an ashtray. There was a film of nicotine on everything. The old cigarette stench was horrendous.

This place is great if you need to visit the hospital since it’s just a short walk from both the hospital and train stations. They serve a complimentary breakfast, and the staff in that area are super friendly and helpful. There’s valet parking for $42 a day, but you can also find street parking nearby. The hotel has a rooftop bar and grill, plus a terrace to hang out on. Just down the block, there’s a playground and a nice green space where you can relax. There aren’t a ton of food options around, but there’s a convenience store right across the street.

Terrible stay and no follow-up—avoid this hotel. My partner and I booked a high-floor corner suite at the Residence Inn Baltimore at the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus for one night (April 3–4), and it was a disaster from start to finish. When we arrived, the A/C wasn’t working, there was only one pillow on the bed, and no remotes for either TV. We called the front desk, and the overnight receptionist said the only thing he could offer was a fan—nothing ever arrived. Around 1:30–2:00 a.m., we were woken up by a call offering us “the same room” on a lower floor. We got out of bed, packed up, and went to the new room—only to discover we’d been downgraded to a standard room. It was not the same room type at all, and the receptionist outright misled us. We spoke with the manager, Joel Douglas, in the afternoon. He apologized and offered us a choice between a partial refund (the difference in room types) or 10,000 Marriott points. As Gold Members, we chose the points. Joel assured us it would be easy, said he just needed approval from another manager, and gave us his business card in case we didn’t see the points within a week. It’s now been almost two months, and we’ve received nothing—no refund, no points, and no response from Joel despite follow-ups. For a Marriott-branded property, this level of service is unacceptable. We were lied to, downgraded, and ultimately ignored. Gold members or not, no one should be treated like this. This hotel has serious issues with both service and accountability.

Was honestly surprised at how much I did not like this hotel. Every staff member is rude - and I know it isn’t a Baltimore thing because everyone outside this hotel is so nice. Rooms are also dirty. Our headboard had stains on it and cleaning is only every other day and it was SO bad. Like I am talking they didn’t even wipe down surfaces and left crumbs and coffee stains. They even left obvious hairs in the sink and shower! After four days I asked for new sheets. They were rude about it and then a man came to my door and handed me sheets and said he can’t change them, they only asked him to give them to me!! I actually can’t believe this is a Marriott hotel. I would not return here. EDIT: I forgot to add the shower water pressure is non existent, like a light drizzle.

Location relative to John’s Hopkins is excellent. Rooms are typical of Residence Inns. But our room was dirty when we checked in. Food on property is limited and not healthy. The biggest NEGATIVE is that the front desk staff are rude bordering on hostile. They need to be upgraded, trained or have a more customer centric leader. For this reason I will not stay here again. Too bad as location could be a real differentiator for this Marriott. BTW: read other reviews. This is a theme. .
