The room itself was lovely—well-decorated and comfortable—but the shower only offered lukewarm water, which made for a frustrating experience. Unfortunately, the service was just as disappointing. A man at the front desk, who seemed to be a manager, was dismissive and condescending when I asked a simple question about whether the hotel was connected to the casino it’s affiliated with. He stared at me, making me feel foolish for even asking, and didn’t follow up with any guidance on where it actually was located. So I got my computer out in the lobby to look up the location and order an Uber. I truly value hospitality staff who are helpful and welcoming when dealing with visitors unfamiliar with the area. For the price this hotel charges, genuine courtesy shouldn’t be too much to ask. Nobody wants to be spoken down to for seeking guidance.

Riversuites Hotel at The Battery is more than just a place to stay; it's an experience rooted in history and reimagined for contemporary living. The hotel is situated within "The Battery," a remarkable $154 million mixed-use redevelopment project that has breathed new life into the historic Delaware Power Station, a former PECO power plant from the early 1900s. This transformation has turned an industrial landmark into a stunning waterfront destination, complete with residences, office spaces, event venues, and, of course, Riversuites. The architecture itself, with its preserved 167-foot-tall chimneys, tells a story of Philadelphia's industrial past while embracing its vibrant future.
The hotel is strategically located in Fishtown, one of Philadelphia's most dynamic and rapidly developing neighborhoods. Known for its artistic flair, burgeoning culinary scene, and lively nightlife, Fishtown provides a rich backdrop for guests. While a review noted that the neighborhood is "much better than it once was, it's just not a high end type area," many guests find the area's authenticity and energetic atmosphere highly appealing. It's a place where historic charm coexists with trendy boutiques, art galleries, and diverse dining establishments. The hotel's affiliation with Rivers Casino Philadelphia also means guests are close to entertainment options, as the casino is a short walk or complimentary shuttle ride away.
The conversion of the former mill into suites has been a successful endeavor, creating an atmosphere that guests describe as "absolutely stunning" and appreciating the "old school charm and upscale renovations." The interiors are designed to evoke a sense of spaciousness and modern comfort, a stark contrast to the building's industrial past, yet thoughtfully incorporating elements that nod to its heritage. The soundproofed rooms further enhance the peaceful environment, allowing guests to relax despite being in a lively urban area.
Connectivity is key, and the hotel offers complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi in all rooms, keeping guests connected for work or leisure. For recreation and relaxation, guests can enjoy a billiards/pool table and have access to a fully equipped basketball court on the fifth floor. There is also a free shuttle service to and from the affiliated Rivers Casino Philadelphia, making it convenient for guests to access its amenities, including eight restaurants and bars. Free self-parking is available directly next to the hotel entrance, a significant convenience in an urban setting.
Daily housekeeping is provided, ensuring cleanliness and comfort throughout your stay. Room service and local meal delivery service are also available. The hotel is designed to be an adults-only property, with a minimum check-in age of 21, creating a more mature and serene atmosphere, though children are welcomed according to some booking policies. Pets are allowed for an extra charge per stay (USD 150 per pet, per stay), with service animals exempt from fees. Check-in starts at 4:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. Late check-in is subject to availability.
Each suite comes equipped with a full kitchen or kitchenette, a highly valued amenity, especially for longer stays. These kitchens typically include a stovetop, oven, dishwasher, full-sized refrigerator, and all necessary cookware, dishes, and utensils. This allows guests to prepare their own meals, offering flexibility and potential cost savings during their trip. Coffee and tea making facilities are also provided.
Comfort is paramount, with amenities such as premium bedding, pillowtop beds, and air conditioning in all 62 individually furnished rooms. Entertainment is provided by 65-inch LED TVs with cable channels, often including HBO. Other practical features include in-room safes, desks, irons/ironing boards, and wardrobes/closets. Many suites boast city views, and some even offer stunning views of the Delaware River, as noted by enthusiastic guests. Options for room layouts include one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites, with some featuring patios and bi-level lofts, accommodating various group sizes. Sofa beds are also common in the living areas, providing additional sleeping capacity.
While a guest review mentioned lukewarm shower water, the hotel generally aims for high standards in its room amenities, with private bathrooms featuring showers, hair dryers, and complimentary toiletries. The building itself is also designed for comfort, with soundproofed rooms contributing to a peaceful stay.
The hotel's location offers easy access to a multitude of Philadelphia attractions. Beyond the casino, guests are a short walk from Penn Treaty Park and can easily reach popular destinations like the Liberty Bell Center, Independence Hall, and Reading Terminal Market, typically within a 5-minute drive. Public transportation is also readily accessible, with the Girard Ave & Columbia Ave Tram Stop and Palmer St & Girard Ave Stop within a short walk (7-9 minutes), connecting guests to the wider city.
Fishtown itself is a vibrant neighborhood for dining and entertainment. Guests can explore an array of restaurants and bars, from casual eateries to upscale dining experiences. The proximity to The Fillmore Philadelphia, a well-known music venue, makes Riversuites an excellent choice for concertgoers. The overall revitalization of the area around The Battery provides a dynamic backdrop for both leisure and business travelers. The hotel is continuously contributing to Fishtown's growth and revitalization, creating a unique "stay and play" destination.

Apr 11, 2025 · Meg PandoAbsolutely stunning! Never stayed at a building that once was a mill and has been converted into Suites. The rooms are INSANE! We have a one bedroom apartment, beautiful features, huge rooms overlooking the Delaware River. A must if you are in Philly and need a room.

Mar 15, 2025 · Velinda BanksI had a great stay at The Rivers Suites in Fishtown, Philly! The location is ideal, and I loved the unique decor blending industrial elements with soft, elegant touches—very cool for a converted factory. Check-in was quick, and the front desk staff was welcoming. On the 5th floor, the beautiful decor continued with that industrial vibe, which was a great touch. Our room was spotless, with high-end furniture in the living area and a well-designed, easy-access kitchen. The bedroom had an amazing mattress, and the pillows were just right. We enjoyed lovely views of the water and the old factory remains from our window. Check-out was a breeze. My only suggestions would be to add a trash can in the kitchen and a roll of paper towels. Overall, highly recommend this spot for a unique Philly stay!
Oct 29, 2024 · Jacob AyubiThe suite was fine but there was a major altercation among other guests that continued into the am. It was after an Eagles playoff game. Needless to say, the stay was a disaster.
