Great location. Easy access and parking. The main problem I had was noise. The walls are thin, you can hear conversations in the next room clearly. We had to complain about a couple noisy neighbors at 2 in the morning. Also, the plumbing makes squeaking and groaning noises all night. I stay at Holiday Inns regularly but this is among my worst experiences. Your basic responsibility as a hotel is to provide a peaceful space to rest. Unfortunately this one missed the mark.

Situated at 100 N Christopher Columbus Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19106, USA, this hotel offers easy access to the vibrant Penn's Landing area and is a suitable base for exploring the historic district and waterfront attractions.
The Holiday Inn Express Philadelphia - Penn's Landing aims to provide a comfortable and functional environment typical of the Holiday Inn Express brand. Guest rooms are described as "very nice," suggesting a pleasant and updated aesthetic. The overall ambiance is designed to be straightforward and welcoming, focusing on providing essential comforts for travelers. The hotel's location on Christopher Columbus Boulevard places it in a dynamic area, with views towards the waterfront and the city. It is often chosen for its practicality and accessibility.
However, it is important for prospective guests to be aware of certain environmental aspects that have been noted by previous visitors. Noise can be a significant factor, as reviews indicate that "the walls are thin," allowing "conversations in the next room clearly" to be heard. Furthermore, "the plumbing makes squeaking and groaning noises all night." These issues can impact the peacefulness of the space, which is a fundamental expectation for a hotel stay. While some guests might find this manageable with earplugs or if they are heavy sleepers, those sensitive to noise should consider this carefully. Despite these potential noise concerns, the rooms themselves are generally well-kept and designed for comfort.
The Holiday Inn Express brand is known for its streamlined services, and this location adheres to that model, with a focus on providing key amenities for a convenient stay. A major draw for many guests is the complimentary breakfast, which is praised for offering "a lot of choices for a hotel breakfast!" This amenity provides a great start to the day without an additional cost, adding significant value for guests. The hotel also offers "easy access and parking," which is a highly convenient feature, particularly in a city environment where parking can often be a challenge. While parking might incur an additional fee, its availability and ease of use are clear benefits.
Customer service, particularly from individual staff members, can be a highlight. One review specifically commends "James," who "went above and beyond to accommodate" a family, resolving a complicated reservation issue and securing adjoining rooms. This demonstrates a commitment to guest satisfaction and personalized assistance, even when dealing with corporate-level booking errors. Rooms typically include standard amenities such as comfortable beds, ensuring a relaxing rest. However, one specific room amenity concern raised was that "the blinds were too small and not black out so it was very bright super early," which could be an issue for light-sensitive sleepers.
The most prominent feature of the Holiday Inn Express Philadelphia - Penn's Landing is its "great location." Being situated on Christopher Columbus Boulevard, it offers immediate access to Penn's Landing, a popular waterfront area with various attractions, entertainment options, and scenic views of the Delaware River. This makes it an excellent choice for those looking to explore the waterfront, attend events, or simply enjoy the riverside ambiance. Its proximity to Old City also allows for relatively easy access to Philadelphia's historic sites, making it a versatile base for both leisure and business travelers seeking "Hotels Near Of Me."
The complimentary breakfast offering is another key feature, providing variety and convenience. This can lead to considerable savings for travelers, especially families. The availability of "easy access and parking" further enhances the hotel's appeal, simplifying arrival and departure and providing peace of mind for guests traveling with their own vehicles. While noise from neighboring rooms and plumbing has been cited as a negative feature, the positive aspects of location, breakfast, and accessible parking remain significant advantages for many guests.
The Holiday Inn Express Philadelphia - Penn's Landing by IHG is generally recommended for its strategic location and valuable amenities, particularly the complimentary breakfast and convenient parking. Despite some reported issues with noise, the overall positive experiences, especially when staff go the extra mile, suggest that the hotel offers a reasonable value proposition for many travelers. It positions itself as a practical and comfortable choice for those who prioritize location and essential amenities over a luxury experience.
For individuals or families planning a trip to Philadelphia and specifically looking for "Hotels Near Of Me" with easy access to Penn's Landing and Old City, a solid breakfast, and convenient parking, this Holiday Inn Express can be a suitable option. Prospective guests should be mindful of the potential for noise and consider bringing earplugs if they are sensitive sleepers. Apr 28, 2025 · D RThe room was very nice the only negative input would be that the blinds were to small and not black out so it was very bright super early. The breakfast offered a lot of choices for a hotel breakfast! James went above and beyond to accommodate my family and me. He got us adjoining rooms after corporate made a mess of my reservation. Would recommend this hotel!
May 19, 2025 · MBSo it is very noisy, confirmed that. Beds are good. You CAN walk from there to the Liberty Bell etc. you will however want to Uber back... One way walking is enough. Night time you cannot beat the location next to a nice Dave and busters. Also Uber back due to late night walking. I enjoyed a walk on the pier. Weekend Pier activities would be very nice I am sure. Rooms are rather small but location is good and so was breakfast.
May 08, 2025 · Kjo VildalFirst of all all, service at this hotel is terrible, reason being my husband and myself came to watch Philadelphia Eagles at Xfinity live!! We arrived late on a Friday night. Parking fees is not listed on the website at all which was a huge inconvenience. It’s 37.00 a night (FYI) for anyone who is thinking of booking here I wouldn’t. We got to our room with a great view however after getting settled into our room we find out that we have absolutely no hot water. We let front desk know they switched our room and the room Wasn’t as clean, our view was gone!!!! and for the price you pay here it doesn’t match the service. Our key card barley worked half the time keep in mind you have to use your key card every time you use the elevator, leaving the hotel etc…. This is the most non accommodating hotel I’ve EVER BEEN TOO NEVER AGAIN!!’ Walls are very THIN!!! They are also doing construction so good luck trying to get any sleep whatsoever!!!! Please do yourself a favor and book elsewhere!’!!!! Would have given a zero if I could have!
Feb 11, 2025 · LadyBossThis hotel was nice and clean. The stuff was super friendly. For the breakfast it was good but the juice machine was broken, the eggs were running, they didn't have bacon and the rolls were completely cold.
