I just wanted a clean, smelly room to sleep and rest one night. I made the last minute reservation and, on Google, talks about free breakfast, but there is no breakfast. The care with the girl at the reception was kind and attentive. The room was in desire, I noticed a strong smell of mold and the floor seemed to come loose. But still a satisfactory room. If it were up to $75 a night, it would be fairer.
For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Bellows Falls, Vermont area, the Rodeway Inn at 593 Rockingham Rd, Bellows Falls, VT 05101, USA (phone: (802) 463-4536, mobile: +1 802-463-4536) presents itself as a budget-friendly lodging option. As part of the Rodeway Inn brand, which is known for offering economical stays, it aims to provide a basic, functional place to sleep and rest. However, it is imperative for potential guests to be aware that reviews for this particular establishment are highly varied, indicating a significant divergence in guest experiences, particularly concerning cleanliness, maintenance, and staff interactions.
Online information suggests that the Rodeway Inn in Bellows Falls is a one-story motor inn. It is conveniently located just off Highway 5 and Interstate 91, making it accessible for travelers passing through or exploring the region. The area is known for its proximity to various Vermont attractions, including charming ski resorts like Okemo Mountain, Magic Mountain, and Bromley Mountain, as well as the Vermont Country Store and historical sites. While the location itself offers access to the scenic beauty of Vermont, the hotel's individual condition is a recurring theme in customer feedback.
The Rodeway Inn is situated on Rockingham Road, a main thoroughfare in Bellows Falls. The immediate environment is characteristic of a roadside motel, with a focus on ease of access for vehicular travel. It's positioned to allow convenient entry and exit for guests arriving by car or truck, with ample free self-parking available on-site, including RV/bus/truck parking.
The exterior of the building appears to be that of a standard motor inn, likely built in the mid-20th century (some sources indicate it was built in 1964, with a last renovation in 2005). The interior environment, as described by guests, tends to be functional rather than luxurious. Common areas are minimal, with the emphasis primarily on the guest rooms. Some reviews mention a quiet atmosphere, which can be a positive for those seeking a peaceful night's sleep. However, concerns about cleanliness and a strong smell of mold or air freshener are also frequently reported, suggesting that the interior environment can be inconsistent.
While the hotel itself may not boast extensive grounds or scenic views from every room, its location off major routes provides a gateway to the broader natural and recreational offerings of the Bellows Falls area. The Connecticut River is nearby, and various outdoor activities such as skiing, snow tubing, snowmobiling, golfing, and hiking are accessible within a reasonable driving distance.
As a Rodeway Inn, the property is designed to offer essential amenities for a budget-conscious traveler. Standard features typically include free Wi-Fi, basic in-room facilities, and historically, a continental breakfast. However, current reviews specifically indicate a significant discrepancy regarding the breakfast service: while some older or general descriptions mention "free breakfast" or "free continental breakfast," recent customer feedback explicitly states "there is no breakfast" or that service has been suspended. This is a critical piece of information for prospective guests.
Specific services and features, as advertised and as experienced by guests, include:
Guest Rooms: Rooms generally feature air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, microwaves, refrigerators, coffee/tea makers, desks, and private bathrooms with bathtubs. Some rooms may offer a sofa sleeper. However, the quality of these rooms can vary significantly, with some guests reporting issues like strong odors (mold, smoke, or excessive air freshener), worn flooring, or maintenance problems like wet hair in the shower or dirty surfaces.
Free Wi-Fi: High-speed internet access is generally available in rooms and public areas, which is a standard and expected amenity.
Free Parking: Ample free self-parking is provided on-site, including space for RVs, buses, and trucks, which is a convenience for many travelers.
24-Hour Front Desk: A 24/7 front desk is typically available, although the quality of service from staff, particularly management, has been a source of significant negative feedback in recent reviews.
Pet-Friendly Policy: While some official information indicates the hotel is pet-friendly (with potential additional charges for pets), other recent reviews state pets are not allowed, only service animals are welcome. It is advisable to confirm this policy directly with the hotel prior to booking if traveling with a pet.
No Pool: While some general searches might mistakenly suggest an outdoor pool, specific property descriptions and FAQs confirm that Rodeway Inn Bellows Falls does not offer a pool area.
A consistent point of concern in recent customer reviews revolves around the management and staff. While some guests have had positive interactions with friendly and attentive receptionists, others describe experiences with management as "incredibly rude and self centered," citing issues with responsiveness to complaints (e.g., bed bug infestations, lack of clean towels/sheets), and handling of refunds or evictions. These severe criticisms suggest that while the physical amenities might be basic, the human element of service can be a significant detractor from a satisfactory stay.
For a Rodeway Inn, promotional information typically centers on affordability, convenience, and location. For the Bellows Falls property, this would include:
Budget-Friendly Stays: Emphasizing its position as an economical choice for travelers seeking a simple place to stay without breaking the bank. This is often its primary appeal, especially for short, overnight stops.
Convenient Access: Highlighting its easy accessibility from Highway 5 and Interstate 91, making it a practical stop for road trippers or those visiting the Bellows Falls area.
Proximity to Local Attractions: Promoting its closeness to ski resorts like Okemo, Magic Mountain, and Bromley, as well as the Vermont Country Store, Fort at No. 4, and local parks and golf courses. This positions it as a base for exploring the region's recreational and cultural offerings.
Essential Amenities: Mentioning key amenities like free Wi-Fi and in-room conveniences (microwaves, refrigerators) that cater to basic travel needs.
Free Parking: A consistent and valuable feature for guests traveling with vehicles.
However, given the significant negative feedback, particularly regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and management, any objective promotional effort would ideally need to address these concerns. While the brand typically promises a "Good Night with Great Savings," the actual delivery of this promise at this specific location, according to numerous reviews, appears to be highly inconsistent. For those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" at a low price point in Bellows Falls, the Rodeway Inn might be an option, but it's crucial for guests to manage their expectations and consider the very mixed nature of recent guest experiences before booking.

May 18, 2025 · Victor FigueiredoDO NOT STAY HERE!! I stayed here recently and the place was nasty, the walls are barely even connected to the ceiling anymore, but management is more concerned with a couple hair ties on your floor!! The current manager is incredibly rude and self centered. My fiance and I were thrown out not long after another incident at this motel in which an older lady was thrown out for complaining about the buildings bedbug infestation, we did not have any bugs in our particular room but after that incident the manager lady was instructed to have EVERYONE move their stuff out for a day and deep clean that place with the proper supplies. Instead she tried to do one room a day and got caught, so she evicted anyone who wasn't up and ready to move everything out that day after not giving anyone the 24 hour notice she had promised. The shower had globs of wet hair when we arrived, the "drinking" water from the sinks smelled and tasted like I had just scooped it from a pool. When asked for accommodations such as clean towels or sheets, the manager told us we had to wait and try to catch the "cleaning crew" the next morning since simply grabbing a sheet or some towels from the next room was "beneath her" and yes, that is what she said. When we asked about out STATE ISSUED refund, she told us that she would have to go back through the system and find the day that we were refunded for to send it back to us but if she couldn't find it she would just cancel our refund. We were issued a refund for a day nit even two weeks prior, so we basically got the message that if she was too lazy to go into the system she was just gonna keep our money. The people who stay here are honestly some of the best people you will ever meet, not all but some. I honestly feel bad for anyone unfortunate enough to stay here with the current management, thus place needs some serious updates starting with the staff!!!! My mother stayed in the same room many many years before I stayed here and when I showed her pictures and videos of what it was like and recordings of how the manager speaks to people, she said that the place should just burn and be rebuilt and restarted and I honestly agree if I could leave less stars I would!!! Stay away from here, the electrical issues will burn thus place down eventually and I pray no one is inside when it happens!!
Apr 28, 2024 · Angel WrightWe pulled up to a scene out of the hotel in breaking bad. Unsavory looking people staring at us as we pulled up.. The check in desk was behind plexiglass like the check cashing place by my old house in the projects. The rooms were dirty, the rugs were filthy, the blankets, sheets, and pillows all had stains on them. The door to the bathrooms had a hole kicked in it...like, what? The air conditioner didn't work, oh, and the comforter was somehow rough like sandpaper and sticky. We walked right out, went to a clean hotel, we all took our outfits off, tossed them in the laundry and showered because, i may not have seen any but if any hotel has bed bugs, its this nasty hole in the wall. I told the front staff about my issues and they asked if i wanted another room. I asked "woukd it be the same as the one i was just in?" And i was immediately told yes. Seeing we didn't stay there for a whole 60 seconds, i asked if i could get a refund and was told "the manager isn't here, we will contact you when he is." They never called, i left a message, no response. The pictures i attatched should tell a pretty clear story as well. Also, they are said to have bed bugs for years by locals.
Jun 03, 2024 · danielle elliottThis was a very last-minute stay for me. It was the only room available in a 30-mile radius of my broke down van. The service, i had to pick up a phone and call to have someone come to the front desk. Then she wasn't the nicest when asking me if it was an online reservation. The room was as to be expected. Floors were dirty, stains on the furniture, curtains hung way too far off the wall so everyone could see into the room. Bathroom shower head was rusty and dirty (I opted out of even taking a shower). Spiders on the ceiling. The AC did work really well, and so did the fridge, so that was nice. Most of the TV channels did not come through. I would not stay here again unless it was a dire need. It's not far off the interstate, though, and there is a gas station within walking distance, but that's the only food you'll find unless one of the cute shops are open.
Aug 25, 2023 · Cassandra NightThunderDecided we wanted to go to ski a second day so decided to grab a last minute reservation at this "motel". First thing I noticed when walking into the dingy lobby was the signs saying "Due to health and safety concerns there will be no breakfast served" When I asked her about the health and safety concerns they were referencing she said Covid....Come on, really? If that's the case you should stop advertising as such. She gives me my room key and it was a "beautiful" room right next to the patch of missing siding. I diligently searched the bedding and mattresses for critters. There was what looked like blood mixed with urine on the mattress cover and what was certainly a giant urine stain on the bed bug cover. Desk lady needed to see it for herself, then touch it, then smell it, at which point she said, "Its just the bed bug cover". Long story short, place was gross, got our money back, and went to Best Western instead. Great place if you want to rent by the hour, or if you need a place to try out some new
