Got stuck in a snow storm and didn’t want to drive all the way home after a day of skiing. I booked last minute and it ended up being an unexpected but great night. Room was very big, very clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Has a common kitchen/dining area accessible to guests. Great location close to Okemo. Will definitely visit again but will do so planned and for multiple nights.

Environment: Historic Charm Meets Modern Comfort

The Chester Inn, originally built in 1780, exudes historic charm, evident in its classic architecture and features like parquet floors and fireplaces in common areas. Despite its age, the inn has been meticulously updated and well-cared for by its current owners, Allie and Tyler, who have invested significant effort into modernizing the property. This dedication ensures that while you enjoy the ambiance of a historic building, you also benefit from contemporary comforts.

The inn is conveniently situated on Main Street in the heart of downtown Chester, Vermont. This central location means guests are just steps away from quirky shops, local eateries, and art galleries, allowing for easy exploration on foot. Beyond the immediate town, the inn offers excellent access to outdoor activities. It's an "easy drive," approximately 16 to 20 minutes, to Okemo Mountain, making it an ideal base for skiing enthusiasts. Public hiking and snowshoeing trails can even be accessed directly through the inn's backyard, connecting guests directly with Vermont's natural beauty. The surrounding area offers a quiet, rural, and mountain setting, providing a peaceful retreat.

The property also features an inviting shared lounge/living area with books and games, fostering a cozy and communal atmosphere. There is also an outdoor seating area. The inn is a non-smoking property, contributing to a fresh and comfortable indoor environment for all guests.

The service at Chester Inn is a consistent highlight, with guests frequently praising the owners, Allie and Tyler, for their attentiveness, immediate communication, and dedication to ensuring a comfortable stay. Their hands-on approach and commitment to guests create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Reviewers note that the owners are very accommodating and have put a lot into making the inn a pleasant experience.

A significant service offering is the 24-hour access to common kitchen and dining facilities for guests. This is a highly valued amenity, particularly for longer stays or for those who prefer to prepare their own meals. The shared kitchen is well-equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee machine, along with complimentary coffee, tea, dry oatmeal packets, and breakfast bars. While the inn does not typically provide a full breakfast, the availability of these kitchen facilities and nearby breakfast options (such as the Southern Pie Cafe across the street, which is highly recommended by guests) ensures a convenient start to the day.

Other services include free high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property, which is crucial for staying connected. Chester Inn is lovely. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and details have been thought through. The Inn is convenient to the highway and only 16 minutes to Okemo Mountain, an easy drive. The 2 owners, Allie and Tyler have put a lot into making this Inn up to date and taking care of the property, especially since it had been not well cared for by the previous owners. They have 24 hr, coffee/tea and kitchen facilities for the guests. There is a nice living/dining area with books and games. Communication was immediate. I highly recommend this Inn for your travels through Vermont.

Located in the heart of Chester Vt. The Chester Inn has at least that going for it. Our stay started with a leaking air conditioner, dripping into a bucket loudly all night. Prior to arrival this issue was mentioned, but we figured it was repaired.....it was not! The room, The Honeymoon Suite, was clean but lacked a comfortable bed. The mattress was hard, worn, and quite frankly had us waking up [when we did kinda sleep] sore. The inn rep. did let us use the room across the way, due to a cancelation, to sleep in the second night. If not for that cancelation we would have had a second night if misery. In the a.m. there was nothing offered for snacks/food. No bagels, fruit, cereal, nothing. This is not very inn like and the cost is minimal. The icing on the cake was a sign posted above the trash in the kitchen which stated when it is full please bring out to the dumpster. Are we kidding here at 150.00+ a night? The inn keeper, im guessing this was the person who only texted/called, offered no refund for the first night of misery nor any other type of offer/discount. There was never an in person visit the entire time. Overall this is a good place to scroll by or drive by. Not worth the rates that are charged and probably sold or out of business by next summer.

Fireplace, out of order. Jetted tub, out of order. Price per night, remains premium. Had I known the premium features were broken I would have gone elsewhere.

We stayed here in July 2018 and I never reviewed it. But this morning I made a big, hearty breakfast for my son, and he mentioned how much he had liked the breakfasts at the Chester House Inn. So now is the time to review it. We had a very nice room with splendid decorations. We found the beds to be very comfortable. The sheets were the softest I have ever slept on! The owners were nice, and so was the dog. The humongous poppyseed waffles we had for breakfast were fantastic! The owner helped us with suggestions for activities in the area. We really enjoyed our stay.
