Terrible experience at this location. Had multiple rooms booked for an event. 2/3 rooms had broken toilets. Showers were borderline. Chewing gum stuck to walls, sheets with mysterious stains, and at least one room that reeked of cigarettes. Looked closely for bed bugs, which we thankfully didn’t see, but oh boy, if you enjoy beetles this is the place. I expect the uncomfortable mattress or too-few-pillows of a budget motel. But there’s no excuse for the sort of laziness seen throughout the property. When we realized our first room’s toilet didn’t flush I tried to call the front desk twice, and twice it went to voicemail. It took me walking to the office, finding two employees playing on their phones to finally get a room with a “working,” toilet. Very much a property that with a competent staff that showed the bare minimum effort (genuinely, who leaves gobs of gum stuck to the wall, housekeeping?) could have been an enjoyable stay. Instead I was using the ice bucket to refill my toilet tank. Would give 0/5 stars if google allowed.

Rodeway Inn Introduce

For local users and travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the Rodeway Inn, located at 1500 Sterling St, Altoona, PA 16602, USA, presents itself as a budget-friendly accommodation option. The motel can be reached by phone at (814) 902-7026 or mobile at +1 814-902-7026. As part of the Choice Hotels brand, Rodeway Inn properties are typically designed to offer essential amenities at an economical price point. However, it is crucial for potential guests to be aware of recent customer feedback, which provides a detailed, albeit concerning, picture of the current guest experience.

The environment of the Rodeway Inn in Altoona, as described by recent customers, is a significant point of concern. Reviewers consistently highlight issues pertaining to cleanliness and general upkeep, which are fundamental aspects of any hotel environment. Specific complaints include "chewing gum stuck to walls," "sheets with mysterious stains," and rooms that "reeked of cigarettes." The presence of "dead bugs" and a "dead cat" found in a room point to severe deficiencies in housekeeping and property maintenance. Structural issues within the rooms have also been reported, such as "rotted out" flooring in bathrooms where "the vinyl on top was the only thing holding you up." These details paint a picture of an environment that, in some instances, falls far short of even basic expectations for hygiene and safety. The presence of beetles, as one guest mentioned, further detracts from a comfortable stay. While a budget motel might imply basic amenities, cleanliness is a non-negotiable aspect that current reviews suggest is severely lacking in some areas of this property.

In terms of services, the Rodeway Inn aims to provide standard motel functionalities. These typically include a front desk for check-in and check-out, and presumably, a means to address guest concerns. However, customer reviews indicate significant issues with the responsiveness and professionalism of the staff. Attempts to contact the front desk via phone have reportedly gone to voicemail, requiring guests to physically walk to the office to address issues. When staff were encountered, some instances revealed them "playing on their phones," suggesting a lack of attentiveness. More critically, a highly concerning incident involved a worker yelling at children for making cereal and a female manager exhibiting a "terrible attitude," demanding paperwork for a service dog, and further inquiring about the guest's disability, which violates ADA regulations regarding service animals. These accounts strongly suggest that the level of customer service, particularly in problem resolution and guest interaction, is inconsistent and, in some cases, unprofessional. While any hotel aims to offer guest services, the execution of these at this particular Rodeway Inn location appears to be a major drawback.

Regarding features, Rodeway Inn properties generally offer straightforward accommodations, typically including a bed, a private bathroom, and possibly a television and microwave. While the specific amenities beyond these basic necessities are not detailed in the given reviews, the feedback focuses heavily on the condition of existing features rather than their presence. For instance, "broken toilets" and "borderline" showers are critical deficiencies impacting the functionality of the rooms. The mention of "food caked up in microwave from previous people" also indicates a lack of thorough cleaning of in-room appliances. While budget motels might have "uncomfortable mattresses or too-few-pillows," as one reviewer noted, these are often accepted compromises for the price. However, the reported state of disrepair and uncleanliness of fundamental room features goes beyond typical budget motel expectations. The property's general laziness in upkeep, as one reviewer put it, suggests a significant lack of effort in maintaining even the most basic features.

When considering promotional information, the Rodeway Inn, like many budget-friendly chains, likely positions itself as an economical option for travelers. Its primary promotional appeal would be its lower price point compared to full-service hotels. For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" with the absolute lowest price as their top priority, this might appear on their search results. However, based on the severe and consistent negative feedback from actual customers, any promotional message should be carefully considered in light of the reported guest experiences. The reviews explicitly advise potential guests to "avoid this place at all costs" and lament that "zero stars" are not an option. This strong negative sentiment serves as a significant counter-promotion, overshadowing any standard marketing efforts. Guests considering this property should weigh the low price against the considerable risks of encountering unsanitary conditions, broken facilities, and potentially poor customer service. It would be prudent for individuals to extensively research recent reviews and perhaps consider alternative options, even if they are slightly higher in price, to ensure a more satisfactory and comfortable stay.

In conclusion, the Rodeway Inn in Altoona, PA, is presented as a budget motel option for travelers in the area, particularly for those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" with a focus on cost savings. Its environment is described by guests as significantly lacking in cleanliness and maintenance, with numerous reports of unsanitary conditions and disrepair. The services provided by the staff, while perhaps intended to be helpful, have been criticized for unresponsiveness, unprofessional conduct, and a general lack of attentiveness. Key features within the rooms, such as toilets and showers, have been reported as non-functional or unclean. Given the overwhelming and severe negative customer feedback, potential guests are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and consider alternatives before booking a stay at this location.

A dead cat was found in our room (which gave a smell that we couldn’t figure out where it was coming from), the only sink in the room had a leak and got our entire bag of clothes soaked, to enter the bathroom you could only step on a certain side of the door bc the flooring underneath was rotted out so the vinyl on top was the only thing holding you up, food caked up in microwave from previous people, when they came to remove the dead cat the worker yelled at my kids to be quiet (all they were doing was making a bowl of cereal for breakfast!!), &last but not least, the female manager had a terrible attitude and didn’t care ab any of the unprofessional inconveniences we went through and tried to demand my fiancé to show paperwork for his service dog& took it a step further by asking him what his disability is that makes him need a service dog. I’d give zero stars if I could. If possible, avoid this place at all costs.

Edit: The security deposit did eventually process. Thank you. Original review: Our security deposit was not returned after five days, which is already a ridiculous length of time to allow. The representatives from their 800 number can do nothing but offer to send a receipt showing the deposit was returned, as if this is the same as legal tender. If you are in the first building, the rooms were not bad for a cheap place to lay your head for the night, provided that you bring your own pillow. They were clean and well-maintained for the price. The gentleman from the front desk even removed the bedding when we departed, which is always comforting to see. On the other hand, we were initially assigned a room in the third building, which was disgusting. A made bed with dirt and hair in the sheets. A black tub (originally white). Even the paint job in that building was slapdash.

Came here on our wedding night and they put us in a room with an non-operational toilet. It's unfortunate that i have to leave a review like this, as the beds are clean-ish but were comfortable at least for myself. But it's extremely unprofessional to not make sure that the room was given to us with a busted toilet. After complaining about this fact to my new spouse, i was then told that the previously given room that they were in, ALSO did mot have a functioning toilet. There's mysterious brown stains on the wall in the corner and chewing gum on the wall behind the beds (gross and a health hazard) Minor complaint as also, after the typical wedding night shenanigans, the T.V. has many channels, yes, but none of them display any media. Edit: upon reading reviews it seems this place doesn't take any of the reviews here seriously as a lot of them are reoccurring issues and all the hotel will say is a copy&paste response. If you have the options, pick a different hotel. If you don't, honestly your car would provide better accommodations

Let me first start by saying this may be the worst experience at a choice hotel I've ever had. After booking room I head to hotel to check in. Employee swipes my card says it's declined. No worries. I swipe my card it says approved and sign. Keys are handed to me. Before I get in my vehicle I'm chased down and told it declined again. I show the front desk that my account shows pending. I'm ill told to swipe it again. So after I refuse on multiple occasions I'm told by Employee he's gonna give me a break and charge me $50 cash for the room. Needless to say I refuse. Report fraud to my bank. So if you're reading this i suggest a different hotel.
