May 18, 2025 · Sean DoughertyBeautiful new hotel, clean and perfectly located to access everything coastal Maine has to offer. Rooms are set up for both long and short term stays. We are very pleased to have provided the fireplace for the lobby and to be associated with a local company that is creating hundreds of new jobs for the area.
Feb 25, 2025 · Matthew ScottMy wife and I booked a room here (via Booking.com) from 6-13 October, 2024 in conjunction with a week-long vacation to explore the "Down East" portion of Maine's beautiful sea coast. After flying into Bangor (1 hr drive north) and renting a car, we checked in on a Sunday night (6 Oct) at about 7:30 pm. The front desk was manned and the polite person there issued us our room code and room assignment. There are no magnetic swipe or metal keys for the rooms here, just 4 digit PIN codes that you get issued upon check-in. Also, the front desk is not manned 24/7, so if you are going to be arriving after 8 pm, make sure you call the front desk ahead of time so they can give you your room assignment and PIN number. We were assigned Room 212, which is on the second floor and the east (front) side of the facility. Essentially, this facility (not really a hotel) appears to have been built with the intent of leasing the rooms out for extended stays of several weeks to months. I guessed this because the rooms are HUGE (about 800 square feet) and look more like efficiency apartments on the inside. Our room had a fully equipped kitchen (with stove, oven, microwave and utensils), a full-sized fridge, a good sized bathroom , a large "living room" with a fold-out couch, dinette, coffee table, and a small bedroom with a queen sized bed. It also had two "Smart TVs" but no local cable that we could figure out. We chose this facility due to its central location (Ellsworth, Maine) and used it as our "lily pad" so we could explore many of the other quaint little towns and attractions in the Down East area that are within a 1 to 2 hour drive away (i.e., not just Bar Harbor and Acadia). We enjoyed the Stone Park (hotel) facility itself, but the very expansive size of our room seemed like overkill. It also felt like we spent too much to stay here since there was only two of us staying there, and we only used our room to shower and sleep in ($1847.23 with tax / 263.00 per night). Since we were traveling about in our rental car exploring as much as we could each day of our vacation, we probably spent less than 7 hours per day in our room, and most of that was just for showering and sleeping. The facility's lobby has a Kerig Coffee Machine, free coffee pods of various flavors, and on most mornings they also had free pastries next to the coffee maker. One thing that was not so good was the noisy 2-lane roadway (Maine Hwy 3) that was located directly in front of the hotel (25 yards from the front door). At about 5 am every morning, commuter traffic noise would wake us up, and often times it would not abate until after 10 pm at night, making it hard to go to sleep early in the evening when we wanted to get up early the next morning to go sightseeing. If I were to stay here again, I would negotiate with the front desk (prior to booking and arrival) to ensure I got a room on the back (west) side of the hotel to reduce the traffic noise issue. Additionally, be warned that the facility DOES NOT HAVE AN ELEVATOR. You can only get to the second floor via stairwells on the far south and far north ends of the building, and the stairs are pretty steep. If you are handicapped or have bad knees, make sure you contact the front desk (before booking arrival) to ensure they assign you a bottom floor room. There is no issue with parking (plenty of spaces out front). Other than the above issues, we enjoyed our stay at this (almost brand new) facility. It would be excellent for a small family or a party of 4-6 guests, but it's overkill for a small party of 2 or less.
Nov 21, 2024 · Edward MortonWe stayed here for two nights and were pleasantly surprised by the hotel! The rooms are spacious and have a full kitchen ! Which is greatly appreciated ! The hotel just got a refresh and it’s clean! The staff was also very nice and quick to answer any questions ! I also appreciated the fruit available at the front desk and the coffee station! ++ they are dog friendly! And have a dog relief area in the back of the hotel! Perfect if you are planning on exploring Acadia !
Oct 05, 2024 · Alexina BonnaventureI appreciated they had a room open the night of but I see why. They have decorated quite well and upgraded all of the features that don’t matter to be quite pretty but beds were small and hard, the walls paper thin, and the shower tiny. And if there was an elevator I couldn’t find it. Also why isn’t the front desk 24hr available. I would accept all of this at a cheap motel but this place was expensive. No one needs two TV’s within 10 feet, I’d rather a comfy bed.
