I gave 3 stars because the manager is very friendly and the customer service is good but I wouldn't advise for families. This is good if you need a fast cheap room and you are not staying very long. They have a 80$ option for 3 hours which was good for me in a pinch. The rooms are ehh very minimalist and the hotel is old. Nothing horrible and the rooms are clean. But there was a weird smell in my room. Its like a you get what you paid for type deal... Oh yeah and 4 stars for location, great location!
For individuals utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform to locate lodging in the Pine Brook, New Jersey vicinity, the Sunset Motel frequently emerges as a highly budget-conscious option. Situated at 55 US-46 East, Pine Brook, NJ 07058, USA, this motel is directly accessible via phone at (973) 882-1700 or mobile at +1 973-882-1700. It caters to a specific niche of travelers prioritizing affordability and quick, convenient access.
When considering the environment of the Sunset Motel, it is essential to approach it with the understanding that it is a no-frills, older establishment. Located directly on US-46 East, a major thoroughfare, its primary environmental characteristic is its accessibility to the surrounding areas of Pine Brook, Parsippany, and Fairfield. Guests consistently rate its location highly, often giving it "4 stars for location, great location!" This suggests that despite its age or other factors, its position offers significant convenience for various purposes, whether for business or transit. The motel's exterior likely reflects its older construction, typical of many roadside motels, but it functions effectively as a base for short stays. While the term "environment" might typically evoke lush landscaping or modern architecture in a high-end hotel, for the Sunset Motel, it signifies a practical and easily accessible stop along a main road.
The services offered by the Sunset Motel are streamlined and focused on providing basic necessities efficiently. A standout aspect frequently highlighted by guests is the "very friendly" and "helpful" manager and staff. Customers consistently praise their demeanor, describing them as "very pleasant, friendly, helpful, polite and great manners." This commitment to customer service, despite the motel's minimalist nature, significantly enhances the guest experience. The core service provided is the provision of a room for temporary lodging. Unlike full-service hotels, the Sunset Motel does not typically offer extensive amenities such as a restaurant, fitness center, or a swimming pool. The service model appears to be geared towards quick check-ins and check-outs, accommodating guests who need a room for a limited duration. The emphasis on being "fast" and "cheap" for a room indicates a service approach designed for efficiency and minimal fuss, suitable for travelers who are not looking for an elaborate stay.
Regarding features, the rooms at the Sunset Motel are described as "very minimalist" and "old." This means guests should expect basic furnishings and decor that reflect an older property. While the rooms are generally reported as "clean," some guests have noted a "weird smell" in their rooms, suggesting potential issues with ventilation or the age of the building. The size of the rooms is described as "small but it's manageable," indicating that while space is limited, it is adequate for a short stay. It is important to manage expectations regarding in-room amenities; while the fundamental features like a bed and bathroom are present, one should not anticipate modern luxuries such as flat-screen TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi, or extensive toiletries that are common in newer hotels. The phrase "you get what you paid for type deal" aptly summarizes the feature set: functional but not extravagant. The primary features are simply a clean place to sleep and privacy, without the added frills that contribute to higher costs at other establishments.
Promotional information for the Sunset Motel, although not explicitly stated in a marketing brochure, can be inferred from customer feedback and its operational model. The motel's key promotional appeal lies in its extremely competitive pricing and flexibility for short-term stays. The mention of an "$80 option for 3 hours" is a significant promotional feature, catering specifically to guests who require a room for a very limited time. This hourly rate option distinguishes it from most traditional hotels and motels, making it a compelling choice for specific needs where a full night's stay is unnecessary or cost-prohibitive. The motel also implicitly promotes itself as a "fast cheap room" option, appealing to travelers in a "pinch" or those on a tight budget. Its location on a major highway serves as a constant, visible advertisement to passing traffic. The consistent praise for the friendly staff also acts as a powerful, albeit word-of-mouth, promotional tool, as good customer service is often a deciding factor for repeat business, especially in budget-friendly lodging. While it might not be promoted for families or extended leisure stays due to its minimalist nature, it is strongly positioned for individuals or couples seeking quick, affordable, and no-nonsense accommodation. The "Hotels Near Of Me" search would ideally present this motel as a prime choice for transient guests prioritizing cost-effectiveness and convenient access.

Oct 20, 2024 路 S EI am extremely thankful for all the staff at this hotel!!! They are very pleasant, friendly, helpful, polite and great manners. The room is small but it's manageable. The price is great. The location is very distant to my job. I recommend馃憤

May 19, 2025 路 JOSE RODRIGUEZThey tried to give me a hard time because my marriage last name wasn't on my credit card but it's on my license & they wanted me to use their ATM to pay cash for a room I only needed for 1 night but after telling the front desk clerk off & showing them my marriage license I was able to my credit card. I was surprised that the room smelled as wonderful as it did when we opened the door; and that the room looked as great as it did. The outside looked old & run down but the rooms inside looked modern & up to date. For the price I paid I MIGHT stay here again if I need somewhere to rest for a night or 2 but this is definitely not the place I'd choose to stay for more then 5 days unless I want to be bored to death.
Oct 19, 2020 路 Jean FaisonLet me start by stating that I do not ask for much in a hotel. All I ask for are clean sheets and a generally clean room and a quiet place to sleep as I typically do not spend much time at the hotel beyond sleeping. So, I have had plenty of experience staying in hotels after reading review after review stating that the hotel is not fit for human occupancy only to stay myself and leave a review stating that previous reviewers either need to lower their standards or raise their price point. Sadly, that is not the case this time. I will detail some of the pros and cons of my experience at The Pine Brook Knights Inn... Pros: The price. The location was convenient for our needs traveling into NYC during our weekend stay. There were no bed bugs (after reading the cons, I am sure you will be as surprised by this as I was). The room had beds, a sink, toilet shower, TV, running water, a mini fridge, microwave, AC and heat. My husband found the mattress to be extremely well suited for a good night's rest. The area seemed to be safe. None of the occupants were grilling in front of the rooms. No smoking signs in front of all of the rooms (presumably so that the smoke wouldn't filter through the AC yet somehow our non-smoking room smelled like a smoking party was held within the not so distant past). Cons: Upon arrival, we immediately conducted a bed bug check. Sheets appeared to be clean; however, our teenage son decided to flap the duvet around (I cannot understand why he did this), leaving a trail of crumbs, etc. on the sheets. Duvet also had burn marks (again, it appeared that no smoking was permitted anywhere; so, not sure how that happened). Duvet was also generally dirty. Appeared as though recent efforts were made to renovate; however, not very well. Noticed that the bathroom floor was filthy (I mean it, filthy) as though it hadn't been mopped in forever or swept as there was a collection of litter under and around the heater. Shower appeared semi-clean; but, I wasn't taking any chances and wore flip flops to shower. Initially thought other floors were cleaner than the bathroom anyway; but, our white socks turned black revealing otherwise. Handle of the nightstand was hanging on by one side, we actually reattached it. Towels were cleaner than the floor; but, I had to pick some hairs off before use. No coffee, I mean at all. None in the lobby in the morning and no coffee maker in the room. You can cross a 4 lane road and pick some up at McDonald's if needed. Summary: If you are on a budget and looking for a place to sleep and nothing more, this hotel may be the place for you. If you go in assuming that they may not actually have anyone who comes in and cleans the rooms after each use, you may not be disappointed. Be prepared and bring some flip flops and plan to spend a lot of time wearing your sneakers. Maybe bring your own coffee and maybe some cleaning supplies if you'd like a cleaner room. Personally, we won't be staying again as I'd rather spend a little more in the interest of cleanliness.
