The Swiss Cottage Inn, situated at 6831 Niagara Falls Blvd, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, USA, presents itself as a highly budget-oriented accommodation option for travelers visiting the renowned Niagara Falls area. As a property listed on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, it primarily targets local users and others seeking the most economical stay possible with relatively convenient access to major attractions. This introduction provides an objective and detailed overview of the hotel, synthesizing information from various online sources and a wide range of customer reviews to offer a comprehensive and balanced perspective on its environment, services, features, and overall guest experience.
The hotel's environment benefits from its location on Niagara Falls Boulevard, a major commercial artery in the city. This places it within a short driving distance of several key points of interest. The iconic Niagara Falls State Park, including attractions like Goat Island and the Maid of the Mist, is typically within a 10 to 15-minute drive from the motel. A significant advantage for shoppers is its proximity to the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA, which is often described as being within walking distance or a very short drive. Additionally, the Seneca Niagara Casino and various local restaurants are also a short drive away, providing dining and entertainment options. While the immediate surroundings are primarily commercial and not particularly scenic, the convenience to these popular destinations is a practical benefit for budget-conscious travelers. The motel does have a garden and a terrace, which may offer some outdoor space.
Swiss Cottage Inn aims to provide basic services essential for a no-frills, practical stay. The motel features a reception that is generally available for limited hours (check-in from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM, check-out until 11:00 AM, though some sources suggest 24-hour availability). Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, including in all guest rooms, which is a crucial amenity for communication and planning. Free self-parking is provided on-site, a valuable inclusion that helps reduce overall travel costs, especially for visitors traveling by car. The motel also offers a complimentary shuttle service to the Falls and the Seneca Niagara Casino during the summer season, adding a significant convenience for guests without personal transportation or those preferring not to drive to the main tourist areas. Multilingual staff are also available to assist guests. Ticket and tour assistance can also be provided.
Regarding its features, the Swiss Cottage Inn focuses on offering fundamental in-room amenities. The motel has approximately 30 guest rooms, with some sources indicating up to 31. Each room is generally equipped with air conditioning and heating for climate control, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a telephone, an iron and ironing board (though not always consistently available in all rooms), a microwave, and a refrigerator. Private bathrooms typically include a bath or shower and complimentary toiletries. Room types may include King Rooms, Queen Rooms with Two Queen Beds, and Economy Rooms. The presence of these amenities like a mini-fridge and microwave can be a benefit for guests looking to save on dining costs. A standout feature mentioned in some older descriptions is "the largest outdoor swimming pool on the Boulevard," accompanied by a sun-tanning patio, indicating a seasonal outdoor pool is available for guest use. The property is explicitly noted as 100% non-smoking in all rooms.
However, it is crucial to address the highly varied and frequently concerning guest reviews for Swiss Cottage Inn. While the hotel positions itself as a budget-friendly option, a significant portion of recent customer feedback highlights considerable issues that prospective guests must be aware of. Common and severe complaints include reports of strong, pervasive odors in the rooms, such as cigarette smoke or other unpleasant smells. Cleanliness is a major recurring issue, with guests citing stained carpets, peeling wallpaper, unkempt bathrooms with mold, cracked fixtures, and questions regarding the cleanliness of bed sheets and towels. The presence of pests, including reports of large rats and cockroaches, has also been a distressing experience for some guests. Furthermore, issues with in-room amenities not functioning properly (e.g., non-working TVs, poor AC, inconsistent heating control) are frequently mentioned. Noise insulation is also a common complaint, with guests reporting being able to hear conversations, loud music, and barking dogs from adjacent rooms. Interactions with management have also been a point of contention in some reviews, with guests reporting unresponsiveness or unpleasant attitudes when issues were raised.
Conversely, some limited reviews, though less common and often older, have stated that the hotel offers an "affordable price and convenient location" and that some individual experiences were "fine" for a quick, cheap stay. These contrasting views underscore that guest experiences at this property can be highly inconsistent and often fall below standard expectations. It is imperative for travelers to manage their expectations significantly, understanding that while the price point may be very attractive, it often comes with a higher risk of encountering severe comfort, hygiene, and maintenance issues. The hotel's promotional information often emphasizes its proximity to Niagara Falls and the Fashion Outlets, along with offering free Wi-Fi, free parking, and the seasonal outdoor pool, which are indeed practical benefits for a budget stay. The pet-friendly policy, allowing pets for free, is also a notable point for travelers with animals. However, the very low price point may reflect compromises in terms of overall room condition and guest experience.
For local users on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, Swiss Cottage Inn might appear as one of the lowest-cost options available. However, the objective information from widespread and recent guest reviews strongly suggests that the exceptionally low price often comes with significant downsides regarding basic comfort, cleanliness, and the overall quality of the stay. Travelers should carefully consider these factors and potentially prioritize alternative options if cleanliness, quietness, and basic functionality of amenities are significant concerns for their travel experience. It is highly advisable for prospective guests to thoroughly research the most recent and detailed reviews on multiple independent platforms to gain the most current understanding of the hotel's conditions and to set realistic expectations before making a booking.
For inquiries or direct contact, Swiss Cottage Inn can be reached at (716) 283-8142 or +1 716-283-8142. Given the nature of the reviews, it is strongly recommended that guests consider contacting the motel directly to inquire about specific room conditions, recent renovations, or current policies before making a reservation.

May 10, 2025 · Brady NobleThis place was cheap, I'll give it that. The cigarette smoke smell was so strong it was unbearable to me. If that kind of thing doesn't bother you, you'll probably be fine. But I couldn't handle it so I was leaving, and then a RAT ran by my feet as I was loading up my car. A very large rat, too. So I got out of there even faster. To be clear, the rat was not in the room, but it ran right past my feet by the door to the room, and the door was open, so it could have easily gone inside. Forfeited my money for a 2 night stay, but I am glad I left here.
Jan 14, 2025 · Kayla DavisAbsolutely disgusting. Carpet stained and dirty. No TV what so ever, there's one in the room it's just not hooked up to anything. Not even antenna TV. Stained shower walls and tub. The pillows were stained. Smeared feces on the bathroom wall. Glob of dried ketchup on the bedroom wall. Bathroom smelled like urine. Just filthy. Wish I could share the photos I took for proof. God awfully nasty
Aug 21, 2024 · JaimeVery friendly management and staff. My check-in was very expeditious, and the room was really clean. I did my due diligence by checking sheets, covers, blankets, and pillows and found no bed bugs, which was definitely a sigh of relief. There is no room service here, but your room will be tidied up while you're out (I don't mind this at all). The pizza delivery on the placard is cash only, so I suggest doordash if you want flexible options. I honestly don't have anything negative to say. I'm happy that this place is clean. It's not perfect by any means, but it is clean and affordably priced. I will definitely stay here again when I visit!
Jul 08, 2024 · Nita MarieThe Swiss Cottage is definitely outdated. It can seriously use a makeover. They have a pool but they do not provide any towels… apparently you’re supposed to use your own… ? The staff- the elderly man who checked us in was nice. The microwave does not work… or does not make sense. There is a mini room fridge but we didn’t use it. The furniture is old and the bathroom is super small. As I sat on the toilet, my knee was hitting the sink. The shower floor was cracked and even though we stayed just one night- just to sleep- we didn’t shower because we were afraid the shower floor might give away. If you’re staying here just for some sleep- it’s fine, but I don’t recommend more than 1 night… you get what you pay for. Lastly- i just appreciate that you have to pay only $10/hr after the check out time of 11am. (I got an extra hour of sleep).
