I stayed here for a night and overall enjoyed my stay. It is not a modernized experience so there are a couple of quirks, like having to keep the bathroom door shut while taking a shower so that the fire alarm doesn't go off, but the atmosphere is very homey instead of the typical modern hotel look and feel. The hotel itself has many historical photos of famous people who stayed at the hotel or ate at its restaurant. The service was also very friendly and my room was clean. I stayed in a single room, and I thought it would be neat to have an extended stay here. My only criticism is that there is a strong Fabuloso smell, which I tend to associate with bodegas and the projects of NYC from having lived there and smelling Fabuloso in those places.

Thayers Inn Hotel Introduce

For those searching for 'Hotels Near Of Me' that offer a blend of rich history, unique charm, and modern comfort in the scenic White Mountains of New Hampshire, the Thayers Inn Hotel in Littleton stands as a compelling choice. Located prominently at 111 Main St, Littleton, NH 03561, USA (reachable at (603) 444-6469 or +1 603-444-6469), this historic establishment, opened in 1850, is not just a place to stay, but a piece of New England heritage.

Environment and Atmosphere

The Thayers Inn Hotel is an architectural landmark, built in the Greek Revival style in 1843 and opening its doors in 1850 as "Thayer's White Mountain Hotel." It holds the prestigious title of being the oldest continuously operated hotel in the White Mountains. Its commanding position on Main Street in downtown Littleton, overlooking the Ammonoosuc River and with views of Mount Washington and the Presidential Mountain Range from some balconies, contributes significantly to its charm. Guests are immediately struck by its "antique charm" and "homey" atmosphere, a welcome departure from the typical modern hotel aesthetic. The hotel embraces its heritage, with "slanted doors and crooked floors" adding character to the building's post and beam construction. Throughout the hotel, historical photos of famous figures who have graced its halls – including several U.S. Presidents like Ulysses S. Grant, Richard Nixon, and Jimmy Carter, as well as celebrities like Bette Davis and Henry Ford – offer a fascinating glimpse into its past. While some guests have noted a "strong Fabuloso smell" from cleaning products, the overall sentiment points to a clean and cozy environment that immerses visitors in a bygone era, while still providing contemporary comforts.

Services and Accommodations

The Thayers Inn Hotel prides itself on providing friendly and accommodating service. The staff is consistently praised for their helpfulness and flexibility, particularly in assisting guests with unforeseen circumstances such as late check-ins due to car trouble or helping arrange transportation and rental cars. The front desk operates with limited hours (typically 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM), but late arrivals can be arranged in advance, emphasizing the personalized attention guests receive. Check-in is from 3:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM. The hotel offers 35 individually decorated rooms and suites, including Classic Rooms, Superior Rooms, Family Suites, and Kitchenette Rooms. These rooms are designed for comfort, featuring amenities such as air conditioning, heating, comfortable beds with premium bedding, and private bathrooms with complimentary toiletries. While some older reviews mention potential quirks like managing bathroom steam to avoid fire alarms or inconsistent heating, the hotel generally ensures a clean and comfortable stay. All rooms include a flat-screen TV with cable channels, and complimentary in-room Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. For added convenience, some rooms offer a refrigerator and a coffee/tea maker. The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing dogs and cats upon request for an additional charge (typically $25 per pet, per night, with a maximum of two pets). Guests with pets must call directly to ensure placement in a pet-friendly room and sign a waiver upon arrival. Free private parking is available for guests. While there isn't an elevator, the staff can assist with luggage.

Features and Facilities

A key feature of the Thayers Inn Hotel is its on-site dining experience at Grille One Eleven. This casual dining bistro and tavern serves lunch and dinner and is popular with both hotel guests and locals, offering a variety of beers on tap and a comprehensive cocktail menu. It provides a convenient and welcoming spot for a meal or a drink, often with a homey, pub atmosphere. In terms of other amenities, the hotel offers a complimentary "on-the-go breakfast" daily, typically from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, which includes items like waffles, cereals, fruit, juice, and toast, along with coffee and tea in a common area. While some guests find the breakfast basic, it provides a convenient start to the day. The hotel also features a communal living room with a piano, a terrace, and a picnic area with outdoor furniture, offering various spaces for relaxation. For business travelers, meeting rooms and banquet facilities are available. The hotel also offers a concierge service and tour/ticket assistance, helping guests plan their local excursions. While there isn't a dedicated game room or pool on-site, the hotel's central location in Littleton provides easy access to numerous recreational activities and attractions within a short walk or drive, making these amenities less crucial for some travelers.

Promotional Information and Local Integration

The Thayers Inn Hotel's enduring appeal lies in its unique historical character and prime location, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a distinct experience in the White Mountains. While specific ongoing promotions may vary, the hotel emphasizes its competitive rates for quality accommodations in the region. Its position on Main Street means guests are within easy walking distance to all that downtown Littleton has to offer. This includes a vibrant selection of shops, art galleries, microbreweries like Schilling Beer Co., and diverse restaurants ranging from the classic Littleton Diner to Thai and Greek options. The "Riverwalk District" meanders along the Ammonoosuc River at the back of the hotel, providing picturesque strolls, a pedestrian-friendly covered bridge, and interactive exhibits. Guests can also visit the famous Pollyanna statue near the public library, honoring the author Eleanor H. Porter, a Littleton native. For outdoor enthusiasts, the hotel is a gateway to the White Mountain National Forest, offering easy access to hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, and, in winter, downhill skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling (with Loon Mountain and Cannon Mountain just a short drive away). The hotel has a long history of being a social hub, hosting political rallies and speeches from its balconies, further intertwining it with the community's past. The Thayers Inn Hotel is highly recommended by guests for its friendly staff, clean rooms, and perfect location for exploring the area, providing a charming and comfortable "home away from home" experience that distinguishes it from more modernized options.

Great hotel with an antique charm. The staff is very friendly and accomadating. They helped my fiance and I with checking in late since we had car trouble and missed our check in. They even assisted us with finding a rental car and getting us transportation to pick the car up. Highly recommend!!

Nice place historic hotel. If you are in the area it's worth a look. It has cham but very dated and at times not in the best way. Could be cleaner, rugs in the room were stained. The wallpaper was peeling If you have trouble with stairs this is Not the place for you . The staff were very friendly though.

Decided to stay here while on a road trip because this small town was on the way. Highly impressed with the architecture (which was a factor in booking!) The rooms are really well kept, clean and have pretty much every appliance you could wish for in a Hotel. It’s just what you can expect on a historical hotel. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was ok. The parking is free and the location is excellent. (Value was GREAT on low season) Would absolutely 10/10 recommend if you’re looking to stay in Littleton.

It is an older place with thin walls and street noise (especially if there are sirens) but the location is wonderful for walking to restaurants and shops and the river walk in back. The staff is overall very nice. The whole place was filled with the scented plug-in febreeze smell, even in the breakfast nook! which was overwhelming and gave me a terrible headache. We left 3 days ago and I can still smell the strong laundry soap smell from the sheets on my clothing. The worst part of the whole experience is that no one from the front desk warned us that there was no overnight street parking (which was free for the holidays) but there is no winter parking on the street overnight and I woke up to a big fat ticket. I emailed the innkeeper and my email was ignored. We won't go back.
