Stayed here twice, once with a group so we had the large family room second time just a standard king bed room.. both were very spacious rooms, clean, friendly service, anytime I had something that needed addressed it was corrected right away. Breakfast was good your standard eggs, sausage or bacon and other options. Prices of rooms Does get a little pricey however compared to other hotels in the area at this quality they are cheapest. Does allow pets would recommend staying here and would stay again.

Features and Design Philosophy

The Chandler at White Mountains, as an Ascend Hotel Collection property, aims to provide a "unique, local experience." While guest reviews sometimes present a mixed picture regarding the execution of this ideal, the underlying philosophy appears to be to offer a comfortable and accessible base for exploring the White Mountains. The mention of recent renovations in some reviews suggests ongoing efforts to modernize and improve the property's appearance and facilities.

The hotel's design likely incorporates elements that reflect the New Hampshire setting, though the overall aesthetic might vary between renovated and non-renovated sections. The emphasis on practical amenities like an indoor pool, fitness center, and complimentary breakfast caters to a broad range of travelers, including families, couples, and those on business. The pet-friendly policy is a significant feature, acknowledging the growing demand for accommodations that welcome furry companions.

However, it's crucial to acknowledge that some guest experiences, particularly concerning pet-designated rooms, have raised concerns about the condition and security of certain areas. This indicates that while renovations may be ongoing, the quality of rooms and amenities can vary, and consistent upkeep and attention to detail are areas where improvement may be needed to align with the "Ascend Collection" standard for all guests.

Promotional Information and Value

The Chandler at White Mountains promotes itself as a gateway to the White Mountains, offering a comfortable and amenity-rich stay. Its connection to the Ascend Hotel Collection implies a certain standard of quality and uniqueness. The key promotional points include:

  • Strategic Location: Its proximity to major White Mountain attractions and recreational areas makes it highly appealing to tourists seeking adventure and scenic beauty.
  • Comprehensive Amenities: The presence of an indoor pool, fitness center, free breakfast, and in-room conveniences like mini-fridges and microwaves add significant value.
  • Pet-Friendly: The welcoming stance towards pets broadens its appeal to a large segment of travelers.
  • Competitive Pricing: As one reviewer noted, despite some perceived price increases, the hotel might still offer a competitive rate compared to other options of similar quality in the area.

It is important for prospective guests to carefully review the latest information and potentially contact the hotel directly regarding specific room conditions, particularly if traveling with service animals or having specific amenity requirements. While the hotel has received positive feedback for its service, spacious rooms, and overall value, recent detailed reviews suggest that consistency in room quality and communication about amenity availability (e.g., pool closures) could impact the guest experience. For those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in Bethlehem, The Chandler at White Mountains offers a convenient location and a range of facilities, but setting clear expectations based on current guest feedback is advisable for a satisfying stay.

We stayed here for our 10-year anniversary this past weekend and overall, it was just okay. It worked for one night, but the hotel definitely wasn’t as advertised in appearance or experience. One of the biggest reasons we booked this place was for the indoor pool and spa amenities, and we didn’t find out it was closed until the day before check-in. Since we booked at a non-refundable rate, we had no option to cancel, which was really frustrating. I also travel with a medical alert (seizures) service dog. I understand pet-friendly hotels often have specific rooms, but it should’ve been made clear that we’d be placed in one of them. We were in Room 120 and it was clearly a pet-designated room, and it was honestly pretty gross. The wallpaper was peeling, the lone stained sofa upon entry was clearly the dog area, the tub was cracked and patched with mismatched epoxy, there was visible dust, hair, and mold in the corners and along the baseboards, and our bedding had stains. It just didn’t match the quality shown online or the fact it was supposedly just renovated. Another big issue was the door. At least on the floor we were on, which felt like the “dog floor,” the doors weren’t even standard hotel doors. There was a large gap under the door, and it opened and closed like a regular bedroom door at home. It didn’t feel secure at all. You could also hear barking dogs from other rooms, so it was obvious this was the section for guests with pets. And while I do have a dog, it’s a service animal. It’s a $50K medical device, not a pet. Being placed in this area and treated like we were just another pet-owning guest was really frustrating and felt discriminatory. This is why I typically don’t mention I have a service animal until after check-in, due to discrimination. I had decided to note it on our reservation this time, and it will be the last time. We ended up avoiding the room as much as we could and checked out first thing in the morning at 8 AM because we were ready to just go home. Between the poor condition of the room, the lack of communication, and the lack of amenities, it really wasn’t worth the two-hour drive or the price we paid. Also, most of the issues I’ve mentioned aren’t unique to us. I’ve seen other reviews from the past year that mention the same problems. I’d honestly recommend skipping this hotel altogether. Management needs to seriously upgrade the first-floor rooms, improve housekeeping standards, and educate their staff on how to properly accommodate guests with legitimate service animals.

The location of this hotel is great. My family stayed here to visit the Ice Castles. It was about a 25 minute scenic drive from there. The front desk clerk was so friendly. I believe his name was Brian. The housekeeper Cassandra, who also did breakfast was amazing. The hotel was very clean, warm and welcoming. The breakfast was amazing too. We really enjoyed our visit.

Although the staff was friendly and accommodating, the hotel lacks in important areas. The first is the most important, construction of the building itself. Not sure if this was a repurposed construction, or it was built on the cheap, but there is no sound insulation. They make you sign a document at check-in regarding "quite time" starting at 10:00 pm. We actually needed to request a different room as the excessive noise transferred through the ceiling from our noisy upstairs neighbors was completely unacceptable. Even being moved to a new room was only marginally better, as even the doors are not conventional hotel construction. You can even feel bounce in the floor of your hotel room when people walk down the hallway. The second thing that was lacking was the breakfast. Although there are things to eat, the variety and quality of items available is lacking. Maybe an OK place to rest for a night, but not the experience I was expecting base on reviews and the description of the property.

This is a newer hotel with nice furnishings and nicely designed. Rooms are roomy and bright. Staff is so friendly and helpful. I would stay here again. Also they gave the coolest faux fire I've ever seen in the lobby!
