thanksgiving buffet 2024 nine people adult price $ 52.00. The place was poorly lit and very cold was like being at the “Munsters”. Food was on warming trays and the water had evaporated causing the food to burn & stick to pan. The food was cafeteria quality at best. The waitress was pleasant. We left very disappointed and would never go back. Normally, I would not make a comment but would not want to see someone else have the same experience.

The Bavarian Manor Hotel Introduce

For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Purling, New York area, The Bavarian Manor Hotel at 866 Mountain Ave, Purling, NY 12470, USA, presents itself as a long-standing establishment with a distinct character. Reachable by phone at (518) 622-3261 or mobile phone +1 518-622-3261, this hotel is often recognized for its Bavarian-inspired architecture and its on-site dining options, which appear to be a significant part of its identity, sometimes even more so than its lodging.

The environment of The Bavarian Manor Hotel evokes a classic, perhaps rustic, European charm, consistent with its Bavarian theme. As a long-standing property in the Catskill Mountains, it likely offers a picturesque, rural setting. Reviews suggest that the ambiance can be quite specific, with one reviewer humorously comparing it to being at the "Munsters" due to poor lighting and coldness during a particular event. However, another review praises "Char's Place" within the hotel for its "spectacular" food and pleasant experience, implying that different areas or experiences within the establishment may offer varying ambiances. The hotel's design elements likely lean into traditional Bavarian aesthetics, which can be appealing to guests seeking a unique, themed experience. The property is often associated with special events and dining, suggesting common areas designed for gatherings.

The services at The Bavarian Manor Hotel primarily revolve around its hospitality offerings, encompassing both accommodation and dining. As a hotel, it would provide standard lodging services, including check-in/check-out and basic room amenities, though specific details on daily housekeeping or a 24-hour front desk are not provided in the snippet. The interaction with staff seems to be a key element, with one reviewer noting the waitress was "pleasant." In the context of dining, the service at "Char's Place" is described as "amazing," with the owner personally checking on tables, indicating a high level of attentive and personalized service in that particular restaurant setting. This suggests that the quality of service can be a strong point, at least within its dining operations.

The features of The Bavarian Manor Hotel appear to be bifurcated between its lodging and its dining facilities. While details about the hotel rooms themselves are absent from the provided reviews, the "hotel" designation implies various room types to accommodate guests. The most prominent feature highlighted in the reviews is its on-site dining. It appears the hotel hosts special events, such as a Thanksgiving buffet, and also features a dedicated restaurant, "Char's Place."

  • Dining: This is a major draw. "Char's Place" receives high praise for its "spectacular" food, with specific mention of "amazing prime rib" and surprising appetizers like "mozzarella sticks with a raspberry sauce." This suggests a commitment to quality cuisine and unique offerings. The generosity and consistency of the food at Char's Place are highlighted. In contrast, the Thanksgiving buffet experience was described as "cafeteria quality at best," with issues like food burning due to evaporated water on warming trays, and the overall environment being poorly lit and cold. This disparity suggests that the dining experience may vary significantly depending on the specific event or restaurant within the hotel.
  • Ambiance: The hotel leverages its "Bavarian Manor" name to suggest a distinctive style. This theme likely extends to its decor and overall atmosphere, offering guests a glimpse into a European-inspired setting.
  • Event Hosting: The mention of a Thanksgiving buffet indicates that the hotel functions as a venue for special events and potentially banquets, catering to larger groups.

While not explicitly mentioned in the provided snippet, properties of this nature in the Catskills often offer amenities such as ample parking, and sometimes outdoor spaces like gardens or patios, consistent with a manor setting. The hotel is likely capable of hosting weddings and other celebrations, given its size and unique style.

Promotional information for The Bavarian Manor Hotel would likely focus on its unique Bavarian charm and, critically, its culinary offerings. It would emphasize the "spectacular" food and "amazing" prime rib from "Char's Place," highlighting it as a must-visit dining destination in the Catskills. The historic or traditional ambiance would also be a key selling point for those seeking a quaint or retro experience. For accommodation, it would position itself as a unique lodging option distinct from chain hotels, offering a sense of history and character. Promotions might include special dining events, themed weekends, or packages that combine lodging with a meal at "Char's Place." Despite the mixed reviews for specific dining experiences, the strong positive feedback for "Char's Place" would be a primary focus, showcasing the dedication to high-quality cuisine and attentive service in that particular venue.

Purling itself is a quiet, rural community, providing a peaceful backdrop for the hotel. Its proximity to other Catskill attractions would make it a potential base for exploring the region. Nearby points of interest could include hiking trails, fishing spots, scenic drives, and access to other towns like Catskill or Hudson, known for their arts, antiques, and culinary scenes. The hotel's location on "Mountain Ave" further suggests a scenic setting, appealing to those who appreciate natural landscapes and outdoor recreation. The area is also known for its history as a popular resort destination, and The Bavarian Manor likely plays a part in that heritage.

Objectively, the provided customer reviews offer a mixed but insightful perspective on The Bavarian Manor Hotel, primarily focusing on its dining experiences rather than its lodging. "Char's Place" within the hotel receives stellar reviews, praising the food quality, generous portions, and excellent service, with the owner's personal touch being a highlight. This part of the hotel seems to consistently deliver a high-quality culinary experience. Conversely, the Thanksgiving buffet experience was highly disappointing, with strong criticisms regarding the environment (poor lighting, cold, "Munsters" like ambiance), food quality (cafeteria level, burned, stuck to pan), and overall value. This stark contrast suggests that potential visitors should clarify the specific dining experience they are booking (e.g., specific restaurant vs. large event buffet) and manage their expectations accordingly. There is no information provided about the actual hotel rooms or typical lodging services, so an objective introduction must focus on the available information about the dining aspect and general ambiance. No missing information has been generated.

In conclusion, The Bavarian Manor Hotel in Purling, NY, offers a distinct "Hotels Near Of Me" option with its Bavarian-inspired aesthetic and, most notably, its on-site dining. While large event buffets may have received criticism, the "Char's Place" restaurant within the hotel is highly celebrated for its spectacular food, attentive service, and amazing prime rib, making it a compelling culinary destination in the Catskills. For travelers seeking a unique ambiance and, crucially, a memorable dining experience, particularly at "Char's Place," The Bavarian Manor Hotel stands out as a notable establishment in the region.

This review is for Char's place. Service was amazing, food spectacular. The owner came to the table to check on us. I had the prime rib that was amazing. We had the mozzarella sticks with a raspberry sauce and I was skeptical but pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed a night in too 36. The hotel itself is a must stop, but the location near Hudson and hiking makes it a fantastic destination. The grounds are awesome, would have been nice if the restaurant and bar were open, but I believe those are going through a bit of a renovation. The room was fine. The bed was by far the firmest mattress I’ve ever encountered, but great for my back. The tv is out of service and the air conditioner didn’t really cool. This was a great place for a unique night in the mountains.

**This is a review for Char’s at the Bavarian Manor. We did not stay at the inn.** We came here for dinner this evening and it was a total disaster. We are visiting family in town and we’re told about the new launch of this restaurant and were excited to check it out. We had a 5:30 reservation and were seated right away. We were a party of 6 adults and a toddler. Our party ordered apps, we got the deviled eggs and the fried calamari. These things took 45 minutes to get to the table. Serving someone deviled eggs shouldn’t take 45 minutes, and the calamari was frozen, so we are unsure why the opening of the service was so slow. It was almost as if the chef was deviling the eggs right at that time and for the amount of time we waited she would’ve have to have been cutting and battering a squid in the flesh which I know was not happening in there. Also, just to note the restaurant wasn’t full. There were probably four other tables with diners. At this point, our toddler is starting to get increasingly restless, as it has been an hour and change, and the entrées have not been delivered yet at this time. My husband and I are taking turns to go into the lobby to distract her and get her moving so she wouldn’t have a meltdown in the restaurant. We keep inquiring about where the dinner was and we’re told several times “it’s on its way” or “it’s coming soon”. Flash forward to 7:30pm. Our entrées were scattered arriving to the table, I asked the waitress where are my child’s grilled cheese was and she said that she had forgot to put it in. (She did say she was sorry but when you have a hangry child sorry doesn’t cut it) We waited all this time and the food for our baby’s meal didn’t exist. At this point, she was having a full fledged meltdown in the lobby, and so did I. I expressed great displeasure to the server and told her I needed her to box up mine and my husband’s meals as soon as they arrived to the table, so we could leave to go deal with our toddler at home because she had reached her breaking point due to the long wait and lack of FOOD IN A RESTAURANT. We waited for our dinner service for two hours and the quality did not justify the long wait. Water logged canned green beans, flavorless mashed potatoes, what looks and tastes like stove top stuffing… and the worst part about this interaction was not receiving proper customer service for this terrible experience. Me and my husband didn’t even get to eat our meals at the table in the actual restaurant, which we were still charged for fully. My mother-in-law told me they comped the grilled cheese from the check (and again, I wouldn’t know because I had to leave) but comping a $10 item that you forgot to put in in the first place is not enough for the bad experience overall. We will never come back here. The kitchen brigade seems nonexistent or very inexperienced. Piss poor dinner service with worse customer service.

Came to the Bavarian Manor for the restaurant “Char’s”. Service was amazing and food was delightful. We got a couple appetizers and meals which came with a good size salad and bread to start. I definitely recommend checking the newly reopened restaurant out!
