Room was in the old wing but comfortable. TV remote didn't work. And staff knocked on the door at 830 so that wasn't the best way to enjoy vacation and she checked us out so we lost a credit we were supposed to get at the desk. Still need to speak to guest relations about that馃檮

The Chelsea Introduce

For those exploring the "Hotels Near Of Me" options in Atlantic City, The Chelsea offers a distinct and often debated experience. Situated at 111 S Chelsea Ave, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, USA, and reachable at (800) 548-3030 or +1 800-548-3030, The Chelsea operates as a hotel tower directly connected to the larger Tropicana Atlantic City complex. This connection allows guests to leverage the extensive amenities of a major casino resort while staying in a property that historically had its own unique identity.

The environment of The Chelsea is a blend of its past as a standalone boutique hotel and its current integration with the Tropicana. It consists of two sections: the "Luxe Tower" (formerly the Holiday Inn building) and "The Annex" (formerly the Howard Johnson building). As noted by a customer review, "Before the Tropicana took over this was a great boutique hotel. It had now become the Tropicana's budget tower." This implies that the environment can vary significantly depending on which section guests are accommodated in. While the Luxe Tower typically offers more updated and stylish rooms, "the old wing," as mentioned by another reviewer, can be "comfortable" but might lack modern amenities like a working TV remote. Some guests have expressed disappointment with rooms in the older sections, citing issues such as lack of thermostats (leading to uncontrolled heating or air conditioning), no microwaves, and thin walls and doors that transmit noise. However, the prime location is a consistent positive, offering "quick beach access" and being "right across the street from the Tropicana." This allows guests to immerse themselves in the vibrant energy of the Boardwalk and the extensive entertainment options of the Tropicana, effectively extending The Chelsea's environment to include the best of Atlantic City's central attractions. The overall atmosphere can be lively due to its proximity to the casino, but some guests may find the older sections less refined than expected for a hotel of its standing.

The services at The Chelsea are generally streamlined to align with its connection to the Tropicana. Guests can expect standard hotel services such as a 24-hour front desk. Check-in is typically after 4:00 PM, and check-out is by 11:00 AM. Valet parking and self-parking are available, though these services come with fees, as is common in Atlantic City. Given its affiliation with Tropicana (and thus Caesars Entertainment), guests may access some shared services or benefit from the larger resort's infrastructure. However, as one reviewer noted a negative experience with staff knocking on the door at 8:30 AM and a credit issue at checkout, consistency in personalized guest relations might be a point of variability. Complimentary Wi-Fi is often advertised, and individual rooms usually include essential amenities. The presence of Chelsea Five Gastropub and other dining options within The Chelsea tower provides convenient on-site food and beverage services. Room service is also generally available, particularly from the Tropicana's extensive dining options, accessible via the connected skyway. Laundry facilities and business services are likely available either directly at The Chelsea or through the Tropicana's offerings, catering to a range of guest needs. However, specific details on these shared services should be verified upon booking or arrival.

The features of The Chelsea are a mix of standalone amenities and those accessible through its connection to the Tropicana. A significant feature is its "rooftop pool," which is described as "fun." This provides a unique recreational space with potential views. In addition, the hotel also has a ground-level pool called Oasis. Guests have access to a fitness center for their exercise needs. The guest rooms, particularly in the Luxe Tower, are described as "comfortable" with "comfy beds" and are often noted for their clean condition. Many rooms offer balconies and can have "fantastic ocean views," a highly desirable feature in Atlantic City. In-room amenities typically include flat-screen televisions, mini-bars (though microwaves are notably absent in some rooms), and private bathrooms with toiletries. The Chelsea Five Gastropub is a key dining feature within the hotel, offering a "massive craft cocktail list and menu packed with gourmet versions of classic bar food," with "panoramic ocean views." This offers a distinct dining experience without having to venture into the larger Tropicana complex. The direct connection to the Tropicana via a skyway is a crucial feature, allowing guests to easily access the Tropicana's extensive casino floor, multiple restaurants, bars, clubs (like Boogie Nights), the IMAX Theatre, and other entertainment options without going outside. This integration means that while The Chelsea itself might offer more limited features, the combined experience with Tropicana makes it a comprehensive destination. However, the disparity in room quality between the older "Annex" section and the newer or renovated sections is a recurring theme, with issues like noise insulation and dated furnishings in some areas being points of concern for guests seeking a premium experience.

For promotional information, as part of the Caesars Entertainment portfolio through its connection to the Tropicana, The Chelsea participates in the Caesars Rewards loyalty program. This is a major draw for guests, as it allows them to earn and redeem points for stays, dining, entertainment, and other benefits across a vast network of properties. Guests can often find various promotional offers directly through the Caesars Entertainment website or popular online travel agencies. These might include seasonal discounts, package deals that combine accommodation with dining credits or show tickets, and special rates for Caesars Rewards members. Given its positioning as potentially a more budget-friendly option compared to the main Tropicana towers, The Chelsea might be included in promotions targeting value-conscious travelers seeking access to the Tropicana's amenities. While specific current promotions change frequently, prospective guests should check the official Tropicana Atlantic City website or call the hotel directly at (800) 548-3030 or +1 800-548-3030 for the latest deals and to inquire about the best available rates. The hotel's direct connection to the Tropicana, its rooftop pool, and its comfortable rooms in the newer sections are often highlighted in promotional materials. Despite the varied guest experiences regarding room quality and some service issues, the overall appeal for many remains its prime location and convenient access to the extensive entertainment and dining options of the Tropicana, making it a viable choice for a lively Atlantic City trip.

Before the Tropicana took over this was a great boutique hotel. It had now become the Tropicana's budget tower. It's fine for a place to sleep for a quick overnight. The rooftop pool is also fun.

Stayed here for 3 nights for New Years the area didn't seem cleaned and when you went to the elevators by the Chelsea 5 it always reeked of cigarettes, there are 3 elevators to get up to the rooms but during the 3 days it seemed if only 1 worked for the whole 3 days there was dried spit dripping down the elevator. In the morning we woke up to use the bathroom in our room an we discovered roaches all over the bathroom we immediately packed up and went down to the reception to get a new room, we were moved a few floors up and given a credit, sadly we lost our ocean view and had the view of whatever apartments are next to this tower, we inspected for bugs and didn't find any so I guess that's a win. The next morning my husband woke me up at 5am because he heard the fire alarm going off we could hear chaos in the hallways and see several fire trucks outside we seemed to be fine as the fire trucks retreated within 30 minutes. The housekeepers were really friendly we had to help them several times get their carts in and out the elevator being as there was only 1 working elevator it seemed a bit much for them to need to move their carts floor to floor. We spoke to a few other guests who also seemed disappointed with the rooms and elevator situation. We've stayed in a different tower so wanted to check this one out wouldn't stay here again.

In town for a concert but I should鈥檝e stayed at the motel across the street. Bed was uncomfortable, room was right in front of the elevators and i was woken up every 15-30 minutes by the beeping and thumping of the elevator all night. TV barely functioned, coffee sucked, no microwave, and no included breakfast that i could tell. Not worth $200+. My expectations were low but this was terrible for the price. They nickel and dime you ($20 for parking?! Are you joking??) and don鈥檛 have any humans to talk to at check in.

Terrible rooms. The door does not lock safely. The walls are very thin and you hear everything from the hallway and elevators. The room was very dirty - debris and old socks on the floor, the bed I made with mismatched pillows and a missing pillow case. The fridge was unusable with no shelves and exploding sodas cans from the previous guests. Dust and dirt on every single corner of the room. The bathroom amenities were dirty and obviously used before. Staining and red liquid on the tables - wine or blood who knows. The AC did not work at all - the room was stuck at 75 and the buttons didn't work. The down button on my floors elevator was broken and unusable. I paid a last-minute rate of $150 with taxes. Expected way better from Tropicana. Ended up checking out the same night and going home - unsanitary.
