We are yearly guests of The Colonial Inn. It’s conveniently located on Shore Road for easy access to the restaurants and shops in the village as well as easy access to marginal way. Staff have always been very accommodating and helpful. The rooms are large and for the most part very clean. This is nit picky but every year we’ve stayed I’ve had the clean the filters in the air conditioners in the rooms. It would seem those don’t get cleaned on a regular basis. They serve a continental breakfast on site every morning. Nothing out of this world, but very well put together and always stocked well. We’ve yet to have a bad stay at The Colonial Inn and return often enough to be called regulars. Overall great place to stay in Ogunquit.

For those seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" that capture the timeless allure of coastal New England, The Colonial Inn in Ogunquit, Maine, stands as a cherished and historic destination. Located at 145 Shore Rd, Ogunquit, ME 03907, USA, this inn is not just a place to stay, but a piece of Ogunquit's rich history, providing genuine Maine hospitality since 1886. You can contact them by phone at (207) 646-5191 or via mobile at +1 207-646-5191.

The environment of The Colonial Inn is steeped in historic charm and picturesque beauty. As the last of the grand hotels of Ogunquit, the Main Inn building, a Queen Anne Victorian style structure built in 1886, exudes a classic elegance. The property is set on beautifully landscaped grounds, featuring inviting green spaces and gardens, creating a serene backdrop for your coastal escape. Its prime location on Shore Road is a significant advantage, placing it conveniently halfway between downtown Ogunquit Village and the scenic Perkins Cove. This allows guests easy walking access to the vibrant array of shops, art galleries, and restaurants in the village, as well as the charm of Perkins Cove with its picturesque harbor and fishing boats. Most notably, The Colonial Inn is just a few minutes' walk from the entrance to the famous Marginal Way, a stunning coastal footpath offering breathtaking ocean views. Ogunquit Beach, known for its expansive sandy shores, is also within a comfortable walking distance, approximately a 10-minute stroll away. The architectural style, combined with its strategic location, makes for an immersive New England experience.

The services at The Colonial Inn are designed to provide a comfortable and welcoming stay. A highlight for many guests is the complimentary continental breakfast served daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Main Inn's breakfast room. This spread typically includes a selection of baked goods, pastries, bagels, fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, hot oatmeal, coffee, tea, and juice. Guests appreciate that it is well-stocked and a great way to start the day. The inn also offers a service bar in the lobby of the Main Inn, serving an array of liquors, wines, and domestic and local beers after 4 PM daily, allowing guests to relax with a drink in one of the comfortable common areas or on the spacious wrap-around porch. For recreation, the inn features a seasonal outdoor heated swimming pool and a hot tub, open from Memorial Day through Indigenous Peoples' Day (mid-May through mid-October), providing a refreshing retreat. There's also a fire pit for cozy evenings and lawn games and shuffleboard for outdoor enjoyment. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, ensuring guests can stay connected. Other conveniences include a 24-hour front desk, a front-desk safe, concierge services, and free newspapers in the lobby. Self-parking for one vehicle per room is included in the nightly rate, a valuable amenity in Ogunquit. For additional vehicles, guests are advised to call ahead for alternative parking options.

The features of The Colonial Inn's accommodations cater to a variety of preferences, spread across four distinct buildings: the Main Inn, Shorebirds, Garden Grove, and Beach Rose. The Main Inn, built in 1886, offers rooms with historic charm, some on the upper floors boasting stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Shorebirds building provides spacious rooms, many with two queen beds and private patios or balconies, ideal for families. Garden Grove rooms feature outdoor spaces and quick access to Marginal Way, while the Beach Rose offers four suites with kitchenettes, suitable for longer stays. All 62 rooms and suites across the property are air-conditioned and equipped with modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, hair dryers, irons, and ironing boards. Rooms are generally described as clean and spacious, with a comfortable, beachy decor. Some higher-category rooms or suites may also include sitting areas, microwaves, coffee makers, and in some cases, fireplaces or whirlpool tubs. The property has made updates while striving to retain its authentic Victorian charm, which means guests might encounter charming quirks like uneven floors or slightly older systems in the Main Inn, contributing to its historic appeal. The inn is a 100% non-smoking property in all indoor and outdoor areas, including balconies and patios, with designated smoking areas.

Regarding promotional information and policies, The Colonial Inn is a seasonal property, typically open from mid-April through October. Rates vary based on room type, view, and season, and are subject to a nightly service fee of $15.00, which covers amenities like complimentary Wi-Fi and parking. Minimum stay requirements often apply, especially during peak season, weekends, and holidays. A deposit is required to confirm reservations, which varies depending on the length of stay and booking method. For instance, a deposit equivalent to the average daily rate plus tax for every seven nights may be required. Cancellation policies generally allow for a refund of the deposit, minus an administrative fee (e.g., $25), if cancelled a specified number of days prior to arrival (often 14 days or more). Cancellations within this window typically result in the forfeiture of the deposit. The full balance of the stay is due upon arrival. The inn accepts major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) and cash; personal or company checks are not accepted at check-in. The minimum age for check-in is 21 years old. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at The Colonial Inn; however, their sister property, The Admiral's Inn, is pet-friendly. The inn also offers various packages and special offers, such as "Spring Fling" savings or discounts for longer stays, encouraging guests to book directly for the best rates and personalized service. With its historic character, central location, and array of amenities, The Colonial Inn remains a preferred choice for many travelers when seeking "Hotels Near Of Me" in Ogunquit.

Several families made a reservation for a gathering through a 3rd party website. Some booked through the hotel website. After booking and receiving the confirmation, the next day, the hotel called and said we made an error and posted the incorrect rate, you have two options: cancel your reservation or pay the difference, essentially double the cost. There were no apologies or sorry for the inconvenience or meet in the middle! Families needed time to process, the hotel never reached back out to us. Instead they just cancelled the reservation!! Clearly a very money hungry place, customer service lacks in communication AND they clearly don’t respect and accept responsibility for their errors!! As a fellow Mainer, this is not how professional companies or family friendly businesses keep any business!! If you’re gonna pay the money in Ogunquit, I’d stay elsewhere, because customer service lacks here from the top to reservations and they just want money, no matter how it affects the booking party!

Absolutely loved our stay! The staff were all super friendly, the room was large with a big balcony and the afternoon cookies were delicious. The breakfast was not huge but had more than enough options. The pool was not yet heated during our mid June stay but that didn't stop us (or anyone) from swimming. Very family-friendly and in such a great location. 5 min walk to downtown, 10min walk to the beach and about 10-15min walk to Perkins Cove. We hope to make it back one day. Would highly recommend!

Overall, a good stay and experience. The room was clean and well maintained. The main guest house is also very clean, the staff is amicable (not necessarily friendly or enthusiastic to help). For the price, this is a good value with nice amenities like a heated pool and fire pit.

We have stayed many times in this hotel, we come back for the convenient location and the old world 'colonial' feel to it, with the lovely wraparound porch and the swing chairs. There is a nice continental breakfast also which is complimentary. We've grown used to the old carpets and the slanting floors, it all adds to the charm. What we've grown rather tired of is the frosty borderline impolite sevice we receive from the disgruntled staff here. A bored and annoyed looking crew of employees with headphones in, talking nonstop to heavens knows whom all day on their phone, not even bothering to look up as you walk in. From the highly irritated man at check in (Sunday October 13th at 4pm) to the lady with the earpods at the breakfast room, you know they are not fit for custumoer service job because tourists seem to be of the utmost inconvenience to them. Over the last two years, the spa has been inoperative, they've 'called in the repair guy' who's always scheduled to come and fix it the day after you've checked out. Don't bother to bring your trunks, it will be out of order. If you can look past that, for that price, it's okay, oh and please bring ear plugs because in this old hotel you can tell exactly what time your neighbours wake up, go to bed, and have a pretty good idea of their bathroom schedules also.
