This place is super cute. First off the check in woman is extremely amazing. We had a family emergency and had to leave just a couple hours after we got there and she was extremely helpful with that. She was lovely and gave us a paper with restaurants around which was helpful. There IS an elevator. I dont know what the post from 5 months ago is saying... It is old timey to keep it's charm but upgraded at the same time. Heated tiles. Yes! The jet tub was super nice looking. This place is extremely clean. I am a clean freak and will nit pick places to make sure they are clean. And this place had absolutely reached 5 star cleaning standards!!! The room was spacious and the balcony was nice. Cute fireplace. Super nice. I'm excited to come back and relax in yhe comfy looking robes! The cons : the tub area was pretty loud, not sure if it was the room next to us. The bed was extremely creaky, climbing on made a bunch of noise, and shifting yourself made a lot of noise. Also, the bed seemed comfy ( I only sat on it) but, it is super high. I'm 5'4" and I had a tough time getting on the bed. I had to climb up on it. The wood frame on the side hurt my leg getting down from it. I didn't see step stool, but I saw in another review they do have them . We will definitely be back to try and redo our second anniversary here. And will hopefully try out some of the spa space.

The Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa is deeply rooted in history, having offered lodging for over 300 years as the centerpiece of America's oldest town on Cape Cod. The inn exudes a captivating colonial charm, characterized by its traditional decor, warm, inviting atmosphere, and meticulous attention to detail. Despite its age, the property has been thoughtfully upgraded to ensure modern conveniences without sacrificing its historic integrity.
The inn features 48 beautifully appointed luxury rooms and romantic suites, each individually decorated, reflecting a blend of casual elegance and true Colonial charm. Many rooms boast hand-carved canopy and four-poster beds, gas fireplaces, and luxurious whirlpool tubs. Heated tile floors are a delightful modern touch in some of the upgraded rooms, contributing to a sense of comfort and luxury. Guests can expect premium bedding, including 300-count cotton triple sheeting and silky micro-fiber bathrobes, enhancing the relaxation experience.
Beyond the rooms, the common areas of the inn contribute significantly to its charming environment. The presence of five uniquely themed dining rooms within the on-site restaurant offers varied ambiances for meals, from casual to romantic. Outside, a stunning garden oasis with manicured pathways and vibrant flowers provides a tranquil setting for relaxation, complete with a seasonal outdoor pool and a whirlpool. The lobby, often featuring a fireplace, further enhances the cozy and welcoming feel. While the inn successfully maintains its old-timey charm, reviews also highlight its exceptional cleanliness, with one guest noting "5-star cleaning standards," even for a self-proclaimed "clean freak."
The Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa prides itself on providing a wide array of services designed to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay. The reception staff consistently receives high praise for being "extremely amazing," "friendly," and "helpful," often going "above and beyond" to assist guests, as demonstrated by one staff member, Fran, who made multiple phone calls to sort out a whale-watching trip. Services at the 24-hour front desk include concierge assistance, luggage storage, and tour/ticket assistance. The inn also offers complimentary amenities such as free Wi-Fi in all rooms and public areas, free self-parking, and a daily breakfast voucher for guests (value varies with package).
A significant highlight of the Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa is its full-service Beach Plum Spa. This sanctuary offers a wide range of treatments designed to invigorate the body, rest the mind, and restore the spirit, including deep-tissue massages, hot stone massages, facials, body scrubs, and aromatherapy. The spa environment is designed for tranquility and renewal, making it a key attraction for guests seeking relaxation and pampering.

For convenience, the inn provides in-room amenities such as flat-screen TVs with cable channels, mini-refrigerators, Keurig coffee makers, private bathrooms with complimentary toiletries and hair dryers, and individual climate control. An elevator is available, as confirmed by recent reviews, dispelling any previous misinformation about accessibility. For those traveling with specific needs, some rooms are handicap accessible, and the property offers wheelchair accessibility to public areas, including the restaurant and spa.
The Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa boasts several distinctive features that set it apart. Its designation as a "boutique inn" reflects its commitment to individually decorated rooms and personalized service, departing from a generic hotel experience. The historical significance of the building itself, dating back to 1694 and renovated in 1972, provides a unique backdrop for a Cape Cod getaway.
Room features are a significant draw, with many guestrooms offering gas fireplaces, spacious layouts, and balconies. The presence of oversized whirlpool tubs and heated tile floors in select suites adds a touch of luxury, as highlighted by satisfied guests. The comfortable beds, often with multiple pillows, are consistently praised for ensuring a good night's sleep, though one guest noted a high bed that might require a step stool (which the inn reportedly provides upon request).
Beyond the individual rooms, the inn's amenities contribute to its appeal. The seasonal outdoor pool and whirlpool area, surrounded by gardens, are a popular spot for relaxation. For events, the inn offers 5,000 square feet of conference space across six meeting rooms, making it suitable for business meetings, conferences, and social gatherings, including weddings. The venue is frequently praised for its beauty as a wedding location, with dedicated coordination services.
The inn's prime location on Main Street in Sandwich is another key feature. It's just a short walk (approximately 4 minutes) to the Sandwich Glass Museum and within two miles of other attractions like the Sandwich Boardwalk and Heritage Museums and Gardens, allowing guests to easily explore the charming town and its rich history.
The Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa actively promotes itself as a premier destination for those seeking a romantic getaway, a relaxing spa retreat, or a base for exploring historic Cape Cod. Their marketing emphasizes the blend of "the romance of the past with today's conveniences." They highlight their luxurious settings, delicious food, and proximity to popular attractions.
The inn is often featured in "Best of Cape Cod" lists and receives high ratings for its location, cleanliness, and excellent staff and service, with overall positive reviews on various travel platforms. They offer flexible booking options and emphasize direct communication for reservations via phone at (508) 888-3622 or mobile phone +1 508-888-3622. They also offer special packages that may include breakfast or spa services to enhance the guest experience. Discounts, such as AAA, may also be available.
For potential guests planning their visit, it's worth noting the seasonal nature of the outdoor pool, which typically operates from May to October. While the dining experience is generally lauded, some reviewers mention a potential need for renovation in certain areas or a lack of amenities, though this contrasts with many positive comments about updated features like heated tiles and jet tubs. The feedback about a creaky bed in one review indicates that while comfort is generally high, individual room experiences can vary. However, the overarching sentiment from customer reviews points to a highly positive experience, with guests eager to return for further stays, often to "redo" special occasions or to experience the spa facilities they might have missed.

Apr 07, 2025 路 sammy centLovely spacious room. Bed extremely comfortable with 6 pillows between us. Bathroom roomy as well. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful. Big thank you to Fran who made quite a few phone calls to sort out our Whale watching trip. Unfortunately our mobiles were playing up with internal calls & she went above & beyond to help. Loved the town of Sandwich. Very traditional & a couple of good restaurants. Lovely end to our holiday.

Mar 30, 2025 路 Jacob ZiarnowskiThe Empress Dowager of Sandwich has had a bit too long apologizing for "any inconvenience" for its lack of dining facilities. This old, historical inn, if its advertising is any guide, emphasizes its food services over all else, and right now, there are none (except a mediocre, no charge, continental breakfast), and it is a big loss to have to leave the inn simply to get a decent morning meal. Rooms are furnished colonial style, a bit too old for my taste, but very clean, and well maintained. Attempts at modernity are too few (our room had warming tiles in the bath, a modern thermostat, and a modern, wall-mounted hair dryer), but little else. Too few lamps and places to recharge phones, etc., and plumbing that has seen better days. The gas fireplace was inoperable, probably seasonal, but I didn't ask. In short, to keep its reputation as a luxury property, it needs a wholesale renovation, and far more than reopening the kitchen, though that would be a good start. Still, overall, a very pleasant stay if you can deal with the shortcomings, and still better than most. Service was the best aspect of our stay, room cleaning was good, but not offered generally. Your choice. Expensive, but mostly worth it.
