The hotel is conveniently located. And very friendly stand. Continental breakfast is on par with every other Continental breakfast I've ever encountered. I have stayed here a few times and found it fairly clean although this last stay i was very disappointed in the carpet! No attempt to keep it clean- not just stained. The throw rug should be removed at this point. The bathroom was clean, but lacked any convenience. The pedestal sink doesn't provide for ladies to get ready for the day. I eventually found a hair dryer in the suite closet. There is a single towel located behind the shelving unit and makes it impractical to use. The shower stall has no shelving for storing or placing toiletries- same with that pedestal sink. The pull out sofa was comfortable. The furniture was nice and room was spacious. The bed however used a flat sheet that was too small instead of a fitted and halfway thru the night the bed was unraveling. The room could be 5 stars so easily with a few minor upgrades. I will also mention the fees. I've stayed here before so I know about the pet fee, the beach fee, the parking... But online it says $20 + tax and it looks like I am charged 25. And the assessment fee. That's a lot of assessments- whatever that is. Overall the taxes and fees are more than an entire extra night. Just be prepared, you will not see all those charges booking online. The service is friendly though. I hope they make the changes to make these ridiculous charges worthwhile.

The Harbor Front Inn Introduce

For individuals and families exploring accommodation options on platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" in the picturesque village of Greenport, NY, The Harbor Front Inn presents itself as a hotel with a prime location and certain appealing features. Situated at 209 Front St, Greenport, NY 11944, USA, and accessible via phone at (631) 477-0707 or +1 631-477-0707, the inn offers direct proximity to the vibrant heart of Greenport and its beautiful waterfront.

The Harbor Front Inn aims to provide a comfortable and convenient stay, leveraging its advantageous position directly on the harbor. It positions itself as a destination for those who wish to be within easy walking distance of Greenport's diverse offerings, from its charming shops and acclaimed restaurants to the ferry services. The inn's architecture and design suggest a focus on reflecting the coastal elegance of the North Fork, offering guests a traditional hotel experience with waterfront views.

The environment of The Harbor Front Inn is largely defined by its central location. Being directly on Front Street, guests have immediate access to the village's bustling waterfront, where they can enjoy views of boats, harbor activities, and stunning sunsets. The convenience of walking to numerous dining establishments, unique boutiques, and the North Ferry (providing access to Shelter Island) is a significant environmental advantage. While the immediate hotel property features might include a courtyard or a common area for guests to relax, the primary 'environment' that guests experience is the vibrant Greenport village itself, which is right on their doorstep. However, recent guest feedback indicates that this environment has been impacted by ongoing construction, which can introduce noise and aesthetic disruptions to certain areas of the hotel.

The services at The Harbor Front Inn include a continental breakfast, which guests generally describe as being "on par with every other Continental breakfast" they've encountered, suggesting a standard offering. The staff consistently receives high praise for being "very friendly" and "friendly though," indicating a welcoming and accommodating demeanor. Room amenities generally include spacious areas, comfortable furniture, and pull-out sofas in some suites. However, detailed reviews highlight areas for improvement in bathroom convenience, such as the lack of shelving for toiletries with pedestal sinks, and the occasional difficulty in finding basic items like a hairdryer (found in a closet in one instance). There have also been specific criticisms regarding bedding, with one guest noting a flat sheet that was too small, causing the bed to "unravel" during the night. Furthermore, while the hotel aims for cleanliness, one review pointed out disappointment with carpet cleanliness, describing it as "not just stained" and suggesting a throw rug should be removed. The most significant concern regarding services is the lack of communication about ongoing construction, which has led to "walls covered in plastic, exposed electric, paper covered floors," creating a disruptive and potentially unsafe environment for some guests.

Key features of The Harbor Front Inn primarily include its exceptional location in downtown Greenport and its waterfront views. The hotel's direct access to the harbor is a major draw for many visitors to the North Fork. The provision of a continental breakfast is a convenient feature for guests starting their day. While the hotel offers spacious rooms, the functionality and maintenance of certain in-room elements appear to be inconsistent based on recent guest experiences. The potential for a "5-star" room with "a few minor upgrades" suggests that the foundational elements are strong, but attention to detail in maintenance and amenity provision could significantly enhance the guest experience. The hotel also seems to allow pets, indicated by a "pet fee," which is a beneficial feature for travelers with animals, although specific policies should be confirmed directly with the hotel. Parking is available, but also comes with an additional fee. The hotel aims to be a comfortable base for exploring the North Fork, including its celebrated wineries and culinary scene.

Promotional information for The Harbor Front Inn would likely highlight its prime waterfront location and its proximity to Greenport's attractions. They might emphasize the convenience of walking to shops, restaurants, and the ferry. While specific current promotional offers are not provided in the prompt, hotels in this competitive market often offer seasonal discounts, packages that include local experiences (e.g., winery tours, boat excursions), or special rates for extended stays. However, guests should be aware, as highlighted in reviews, that "online it says $20 + tax and it looks like I am charged 25. And the assessment fee. That's a lot of assessments- whatever that is." The review states that "Overall the taxes and fees are more than an entire extra night. Just be prepared, you will not see all those charges booking online." This transparency issue regarding "ridiculous charges" and "assessment fees" is a crucial point for potential guests to consider when evaluating the overall value and budgeting for their stay.

Customer reviews paint a mixed picture for The Harbor Front Inn. While the "conveniently located" aspect and "very friendly staff" are consistently praised, significant concerns emerge. One guest was "very disappointed in the carpet" due to staining and general uncleanliness, and noted a lack of "convenience" in the bathroom design, specifically mentioning the pedestal sink and lack of shelving in the shower. The issue with an undersized flat sheet on the bed also contributed to a less than ideal night's sleep. However, the most alarming feedback comes from a guest who reported discovering the hotel "under construction" upon arrival, without prior notification. This included "walls covered in plastic, exposed electric, paper covered floors," creating "an accident waiting to happen" and significant noise from workers. The lack of staff at the desk upon arrival and a dismissive "sorry" from management when confronted about the disruptive conditions led to an "absolutely the worst experience ever," with the guest vowing to "never stay there again." This suggests that while the location and staff friendliness are positives, guests need to be aware of potential ongoing renovations, unexpected fees, and inconsistencies in room maintenance and communication, which can significantly impact the overall quality of their stay.

It is under construction and we were never informed. Walls covered in plastic, exposed electric, paper covered floors. An accident waiting to happen. Noise from workers. No one was at the desk when we arrived we had to ask one of the workers to find someone. Will never stay there again. Absolutely the worst experience ever. They should have refunded our money but all she said was “ sorry” really? Horrible, horrible stay .

So bad!!! I never leave reviews of businesses, but my experience at this “hotel” was so bad, I want to warn others. Don’t stay here! It may look like it’s nice, but the service is awful. And I don’t mean that they just forget to bring fresh towels or something excusable. They actually woke us up and kept us awake up all night! Then they refused to apologize or refund even part of the bill the next day. Their fire alarm malfunctioned, causing all the guests to gather in the sub-freezing temperatures outside in the parking lot. They got the alarm part to go off eventually, but they didn’t fix it! The alarm continued to “chirp” outside our room until we left at 11 AM! The front desk was all nasty attitude towards us this morning when we checked out. It would have been appropriate to apologize and refund our payment. After all, it’s a hotel, and we were awoken in the dark of night and unable to sleep after that due to the constant chirping. All they did was offer to refund the $25 parking fee we shouldn’t have had to pay in the first place, as we were paying guests of the hotel and there were plenty of empty spaces in the lot. Awful! Do not stay here. I know I never will again.

Greeted with a very quaint lobby and friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Large towels, robes, and nice smelling soaps/lotions were a plus!

Just left this hotel. Made reservations and went to check in. The girl at the desk was not very hospitable at all as I watched several people walk through and experience her poor disposition. After waiting one hour to check in they told us our room was being worked on. Another hour later still no room. We watched many others walk in and go to their rooms. I understand first come first serve but this was something totally different. Very very poor communication and service. We obviously left after waiting two hours in the lobby. Good luck to others!
