I'm writing solely on our experience in the restaurant. We made reservations for a 4 top, myself, my husband and our two children, ages 7 and 10. We were given a high top and when requesting a regular low top the waitress told us flat out "no, the bigger table was to seat larger groups in case they come in." And it wasn't in a nice way. Just real jerky about it. Meanwhile, they also had an available hightop that would sit a larger group. Additionally, the larger low top were two smaller tables put together and could have easily been separated. There were also two other low tops that could have been put together once the two other tables left. These two tables were almost finished with their meals. If we were a walk in I understand putting us at a high top, but we actually made a reservation. The waitress is not exactly friendly or willing to offer any other options. She basically told us that this is just how it is. The real problem was that after appetizers, my 7 year old's chair fell back and if another diner from the neighboring table didn't catch her she would have hit her head as the chair fell from it's high position. She did hurt her leg as it was caught in the chair. I took my girls to the bathroom and my husband told the waitress what happened. Rather than apologize and ask how our child was, she went into how we should have requested a low top when calling for our reservation and this was the policy. My husband got really annoyed at her and told her that this policy was bs. The table with the regular height chairs that we requested and were denied remained empty for the duration of our dining experience. By the time my husband had complained the two other 4 tops at regular height were empty and already reset. But this waitress just didn't offer any resolution to try to make this right. At no point did a manager or owner come out to apologize or see if our child was okay. When I paid the bill, giving her a standard 20% tip, she gave me the same reason she gave my husband, to call and request a low top with the reservation. I responded that my child could have really gotten hurt and they need to do better. Her response, "I know, but I've seated a that table before and then a 6 or 8 top would come in and couldn't get seated." If we were all adults, I get to keep us seated at a high top, but we had two small children and as mentioned above there were other options she could have given us or a larger group if they had come in (never did!) This is the third and final year we will ever come to this restaurant.

Townsend Manor Inn Introduce

For those navigating platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" in search of accommodation in Greenport, NY, the Townsend Manor Inn presents itself as a historic and charming option with a unique waterfront appeal. Located at 714 Main St, Greenport, NY 11944, USA, this inn can be reached at (631) 477-2000 or +1 631-477-2000. It offers a blend of traditional hospitality with the added convenience of marina access, positioning itself as a classic Greenport experience.

The Townsend Manor Inn, steeped in history, offers a quintessential Greenport experience. While specific details on its exact founding or historical milestones are not extensively detailed, its classic architecture and established presence in the heart of Greenport suggest a long-standing tradition of hospitality. The inn provides a range of accommodations, aiming to cater to different traveler needs, from individual rooms to potential suites. Its primary draw, beyond its lodging, is its integral connection to the waterfront through its marina, offering direct access to the nautical lifestyle of the North Fork.

The environment at Townsend Manor Inn is centered around its prime location and waterfront amenities. Situated directly on the water, the inn provides picturesque views and a serene atmosphere, particularly from its marina and any water-facing rooms or dining areas. The presence of a full-service marina means guests arriving by boat have convenient access, and the overall ambiance is designed to appeal to those who appreciate maritime activities and views. The inn is located very close to the bustling downtown area of Greenport, allowing guests easy access to local shops, art galleries, and other attractions. While the immediate property environment is focused on the marina and the historic inn building, the surrounding Greenport village offers a lively backdrop for exploration and enjoyment of the North Fork's unique character.

The services offered at Townsend Manor Inn typically include a range of standard hotel amenities. As an inn, guests can expect comfortable lodging, and often, personalized attention. The presence of a restaurant on-site means dining options are available directly within the property, which is a convenient feature for guests. While specific details on room amenities (e.g., Wi-Fi, air conditioning, private bathrooms, televisions) are not explicitly provided in the given information, it is generally expected that a hotel operating in this category would offer these standard comforts. The inn's marina provides essential services for boaters, including slips for docking. The staff's role in providing service is crucial, as highlighted in customer feedback, which can significantly shape a guest's experience.

Key features of the Townsend Manor Inn revolve around its dual identity as an inn and a marina. The full-service marina is a significant draw, attracting guests who wish to moor their boats and enjoy direct water access. The on-site restaurant is another core feature, providing a convenient dining option for guests and visitors alike. While the recent customer reviews paint a mixed picture regarding the dining experience, the fact that there is a dedicated restaurant indicates an effort to offer a comprehensive stay. The inn's location in Greenport is a feature in itself, placing guests within easy reach of the North Fork's famous wineries, farm stands, and other charming villages. The historic nature of the property adds a layer of character that distinguishes it from more modern hotel chains. For those seeking a blend of traditional lodging and nautical convenience, the Townsend Manor Inn aims to provide this unique combination.

Regarding promotional information, specific current deals for Townsend Manor Inn were not provided in the prompt. However, hotels of this type often promote their unique selling points, such as their historic charm, waterfront location, and marina facilities, to attract guests. They may offer packages tailored to boaters, or those looking to explore the North Fork's wine country or culinary scene. Given its established presence, the inn likely participates in various online travel agencies and may have special offers available through direct booking. Potential guests are encouraged to contact the inn directly via phone or check their official website for the most up-to-date promotional packages and availability, especially when considering group bookings or extended stays.

Customer reviews, however, shed important light on aspects of the Townsend Manor Inn, particularly concerning its restaurant service and food quality. One detailed review highlights a negative dining experience for a family with young children. Despite making a reservation, they were initially assigned an unsuitable high-top table and faced an unaccommodating waitress who refused to provide a low-top table, citing a policy to reserve larger tables for bigger groups, even when other options were available. A significant safety concern arose when a child’s chair fell, causing injury, and the waitress reportedly responded by blaming the guests for not specifically requesting a low-top, rather than showing concern or offering an apology. The review emphasizes a lack of willingness to resolve issues, with no manager or owner coming out to address the situation. This suggests potential inconsistencies in guest service, particularly within the restaurant aspect of the inn. Another review from a group traveler expressed disappointment with the food quality during a buffet lunch, describing "low grade quality" chicken with an undesirable texture and "mushy" salmon, suggesting that the buffet experience did not meet expectations. The reviewer also expressed hope that the à la carte dining might be better, indicating that group catering might not showcase the restaurant's best. These reviews suggest that while the location and inn itself might hold charm, guests should manage expectations regarding the restaurant's service and food, particularly for families or large groups.

In conclusion, for local users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me" in Greenport, the Townsend Manor Inn offers a historic, waterfront option with the significant advantage of a full-service marina. Its appeal lies in its classic inn ambiance and direct access to the Peconic Bay. However, recent customer feedback on its restaurant service and food quality indicates areas where the guest experience may fall short, particularly in terms of staff responsiveness to issues and the consistency of culinary offerings. While the inn provides a charming base for exploring Greenport and the North Fork, potential guests, especially those considering dining at the on-site restaurant or traveling with families, should be aware of these varying service levels.

I went here as part of a group trip. We stopped here for lunch. I was not impressed at all with the food. The chicken was a low grade quality. It had a chewy texture like it had fat in it and there were some hard things in it. I had to spit it out. The salmon was so so. Kind of mushy I dont know if it was because it was a buffet or what. I'd like to try the dining experience as a guest. Maybe the food is better off the menu. I feel they would try to impress a group of 50 people that were 1st timers but they didn't.

The property was not in good condition inside and out. Lots of deferred maintenance. The individual room that we were provided was not in good shape. It was odd that they require for you to pay for beverages with cash only. I don’t know if they are trying to avoid paying taxes, but it made the experience not enjoyable. Why would you not accept credit card? It’s 2024.

We rented a room in this hotel just a few days before our trip. It was the only reasonable priced hotel in the area. The hotel is clearly undergoing some renovations and the building we stayed in, Gingerbread, recently had its exterior painted. The inside was very clean and spacious but decor was outdated. Everything worked well in the room but the beds could definitely need an upgrade as they have been well worn over the years. The location is absolutely perfect, just a short walk to the main streets and town of Greenport. The staff working at the hotel were so kind and friendly. They offered free parking with your stay on site which was great and their pool looked lovely. Overall, we got what we paid for and would go back with the hopes that they upgrade the beds in the near future. 😊

We stayed here in July. Our room smelled so terribly of mold and mildew I really considered sleeping in the car. I understand these are old historic buildings, and they are beautiful, but the air quality in our room was so bad it was unhealthy. When I went to the desk to ask about it, they gave me a can of glade. So after spraying the glade, the room smelled like a musty toilet bowl. I called again after that didn't work and was basically told too bad. Nice that you didn't care or offer any apology. The main house didn't smell. For $400 a night it would have been nice to not go to bed and wake up with a headache because you refuse to fix this issue that seems to have been a problem for some years based on these other reviews. I would have kept the windows open all night if it wasn't 90 degrees out. Might be time to invest and make repairs so your guests can breathe clean air. It really is a shame because the location is perfect, the pool is very nice, and the place has so much charm. It's probably just an issue with the last small building but it has to be fixed- either the carpets need to be replaced or the walls, something to make it livable for your paying guests.
