Environment: Historic Charm in a Scenic Town

The Tellico Plains Inn is ideally situated on Veterans Memorial Drive, placing it within "walking distance to shopping and dining" in the charming, historic downtown of Tellico Plains. This central location offers guests the convenience of exploring local shops, galleries, and eateries on foot, immersing themselves in the "small-town charm" that the area is known for. Despite its downtown setting, the inn benefits from the serene backdrop of the surrounding Appalachian foothills. Tellico Plains itself is a vintage mountain town and serves as the gateway to the breathtaking Cherohala Skyway and the vast Cherokee National Forest. The inn’s environment, therefore, perfectly balances easy access to local amenities with the tranquility and natural beauty of the mountains. Guests can relax on the extended wrap-around porch, complete with rocking chairs, and take in the peaceful ambiance of the town. The building itself, originally established in 1916, has been beautifully preserved, maintaining its original rustic wood floors, wainscoting, and dental trim, contributing to a "unique" and "charming" atmosphere that resonates with the town's rich history.

Services and Amenities: Spacious Comfort and Attentive Hospitality

The Tellico Plains Inn has undergone a significant renovation, transforming it into a modern yet historically preserved establishment. The emphasis on guest comfort and satisfaction is evident in the services and amenities provided:

  • Spacious and Well-Equipped Rooms: Guests consistently describe the rooms as "spacious, clean and well stocked with whatever you might need." Each of the eight beautifully restored guest rooms (reduced from 12 to allow for private bathrooms) features its own ductless heating and cooling unit (individual Heat/AC), a 55-inch Smart TV, a mini-fridge, and a console/desk with stools. Private bathrooms, some with walk-in showers and others with tubs, are equipped with hairdryers, free toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body soap), and fresh towels and linens. Coffee machines (Keurig K-cups) are provided in each room, along with bottled water.
  • Excellent Communication and Hospitality: The inn is praised for its "amazing host" John, who is "very good and fast to respond" to communications. His aunt, described as "fantastic" and "very pleasant and always willing to go above and beyond," contributes significantly to the "homey feeling" of the inn. This personalized and attentive service ensures a welcoming and comfortable stay.
  • Convenient Common Areas: Guests have access to a charming lobby featuring sitting areas, an electric fireplace, a Keurig coffee station with supplies, a microwave, and a small ice machine. These areas are perfect for relaxation or socializing.

  • Free Parking: Ample free private parking is available on-site, providing convenience for guests arriving by car or motorcycle.
  • Self Check-in: The inn offers an easy and flexible self check-in and check-out process via an electronic lock with a unique, private door code for each room.
  • Work-Friendly Spaces: A shared office space on the second floor, equipped with desks, chairs, and a printer/scanner/copier, is available on a first-come, first-served basis, ideal for remote workers.

It is important to note that The Tellico Plains Inn does not have an on-site restaurant for full meals; however, its walking distance to local dining options makes this less of an issue. The inn also maintains a strict "no pets allowed" policy in its motel rooms, which is a consideration for travelers with furry companions.

Features: A Blend of History, Comfort, and Community
  • Historic Renovation: The inn's transformation in 2022 by John and Jennifer Pollard, along with John and Elizabeth Stewart, aimed to "salvage its character" while adding modern amenities. This blend of old and new is a significant feature, offering a unique architectural and historical experience.

  • Event Venue: The inn boasts a luxurious 650 sq. ft. Event Room, lit with three stylish chandeliers, which can be rented separately. This space comfortably seats 40-50 people and is perfect for "weddings, bridal or baby showers, or any enthusiast group gathering," making it a versatile venue in the area.

  • Local Authenticity: The presence of Nigel, the innkeeper's cat, contributes to the "homey feeling" and adds a touch of local charm, making the stay feel more like a visit to a friend's home rather than a generic hotel.

  • Community Connection: The inn's deep family roots in Tellico Plains and its efforts to preserve the town's history create a strong connection to the local community, offering guests a more authentic experience.

  • Quiet Street View: Many rooms offer a "quiet street view," providing a peaceful outlook onto the charming town of Tellico Plains.

  • Smoking Policy: The entire property, including the rooms and common areas, is smoke-free, ensuring a fresh and clean environment for all guests.

We have been coming to Tellico Plains for many years to visit our daughter's family, but normally drive back home since we are only 2 hours away. This last weekend our grandson was graduating from TP HS so we spent the night. We stayed at the Tellico Plains Inn. What a wonderful Inn! The accommodations were immaculate. Beginning with the key less entry into the Inn and our room which I love! The lobby was really cool and was perfectly furnished. Our room was a king with a bathroom -walk in shower - clean - neat and well furnished. Plenty of towels and all placed perfectly. Great touches of Kurat coffee maker and plenty of cups of excellent coffee. King bed was perfect! The grounds outside of the inn were gorgeous. Well maintained and clean as a pin. Enjoyed the rocking chairs on the porch. Sat in the late evening and had a glass and enjoyed the setting. The Tellico Plains Bakery was a few steps away for wonderful pastries or lunch sandwich. Come stay at the Tellico Plains Inn - you will not be disappointed.

What a lovely inn! The host, John, was very accommodating. Our room on first floor was exceptional with every detail covered. Very clean and beautiful. Especially love sitting on wrap around porch enjoying the views. Town has several great places to eat or grab a coffee.and the Skyway drive is nearby. Well worth a visit. We’ll be back!

It's hard to find superlatives generous enough to describe the beauty of this historic inn. From the cheerful welcoming exterior with the rocking chairs on the porch, to the exceptional renovation of the interior (it is absolutely gorgeous !), it is clear that a whole lotta love and thoughtfulness went into this project. The historical photos and write ups really give one a sense of place. From the comfortable downstairs seating area with a full coffee/tea service area to the rooms themselves, every detail was attended to. Super supportive, amazingly comfortable bed, beautiful linens, a large modern bathroom and a coffee maker & mini frig if you want to chill in instead of venturing out. John, I can't thank you enough for offering this weary traveler such an elegant place to rest. You have much to be proud of. I wish you continued success and I will be back! PS!!! I forgot something!! The tote bag with the Inn's logo. What a sweet and elegant touch ..
