We planned an overnight stay that included a spa package on April 12 to celebrate a birthday. It included Swedish massage and a pedicure for two people. We received a call a few days prior to check in to move our pedicure for the next morning. Although, this was an inconvenience to us since we had a whole day planned for massages and pedicures the manager was very happy we were able to work with him. So we reschedule for following day. Our massage was scheduled for 1:00, unfortunately we had an issue with the lockers. We arrived 15 minutes late. To my surprise for such a reputable resort he was not able to compensate us; for just 35 minutes massage as apposed to 50 minutes. We felt the massage therapist should have told us they were only providing us with less time. We would have rescheduled the services . When explained this to the manager unfortunately he was rude and condesending. He keep reminding us that we were late. However, we were held up during the check in process and problems with their broken lockers. We decided to cancel our pedicure service. In the future we will not drive 3 hours to this spa. On the positive side, the rooms were clean, the food was great and the staff was excellent.

Water's Edge Resort & Spa Introduce

For local users Browse the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, Water's Edge Resort & Spa stands out as a prominent option for a coastal retreat in Westbrook, Connecticut. Located at 1525 Boston Post Rd, Westbrook, CT 06498, USA, this resort aims to provide a comprehensive experience, combining comfortable accommodations with a range of amenities, including a spa and dining options, all set against the backdrop of the Connecticut shoreline. This introduction will objectively detail the resort's environment, services, features, and promotional aspects, drawing from available online information and guest reviews to provide a balanced perspective.

The environment at Water's Edge Resort & Spa is primarily characterized by its "nice and serene spot" along the ocean. Its coastal location offers guests the opportunity to enjoy ocean views and the tranquility of the seaside. While the beach is described as "small," its presence still provides direct access to the ocean, which is a significant draw for a resort of this nature. The property is acknowledged as an "old spot," suggesting a seasoned establishment, but guests have noted that the "rooms and amenities are in pretty good condition," indicating that the resort maintains its facilities despite its age. An "ocean view room and the balcony" are highlighted as particularly enjoyable features, emphasizing the resort's natural appeal and the opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in the coastal surroundings. The overall ambiance aims for relaxation and a peaceful escape, making it a suitable choice for those looking to unwind by the water. However, it's worth noting that an older property might present some minor infrastructural limitations, as one guest pointed out the lack of "many electric outlets at the room," which could be a modern convenience consideration for some travelers.

The services at Water's Edge Resort & Spa offer a mix of positive and concerning aspects based on guest feedback. On the positive side, the resort's staff generally receives commendation, with one review stating that the "staff was excellent." This suggests a commitment to good customer service from many team members. The food quality is another area of strength, with a guest reporting that the "food was great," indicating a satisfying dining experience. The resort also offers a spa, which is a major draw for guests seeking relaxation and specific treatments like Swedish massages and pedicures. However, the spa service specifically encountered significant issues for one guest. Problems included a rescheduled pedicure that caused inconvenience, a 15-minute delay to a massage due to "check in process and problems with their broken lockers," and a manager who was perceived as "rude and condescending" when asked about compensation for the shortened massage time. The lack of prior communication from the massage therapist about the reduced time was also a point of contention. This specific incident highlights a potential inconsistency in problem resolution and customer handling, particularly within the spa management, despite the general excellence of other staff members. It suggests that while many services are well-executed, guests might face challenges if unforeseen issues arise, particularly regarding spa appointments and management responsiveness to service disruptions.

Water's Edge Resort & Spa boasts several key features that contribute to its appeal as a resort destination. A primary feature is its direct "oceanside" location with a "small beach," providing guests with immediate access to the waterfront for relaxation or scenic views. The inclusion of a full-service "spa package" offering treatments like massages and pedicures is a significant draw for guests seeking wellness and pampering. The resort offers various "rooms and amenities," which are generally described as being in "pretty good condition," indicating well-maintained accommodations despite the property's age. The availability of "ocean view room and the balcony" is a highly desirable feature, allowing guests to fully enjoy the coastal setting from the comfort of their own space. The presence of a restaurant, where the "food was great," provides convenient and enjoyable dining options on-site, eliminating the need for guests to leave the property for meals. As a resort, it is also equipped to host events, as indicated by a guest visiting for a "company event," suggesting that it has facilities and services suitable for corporate gatherings, weddings, and other functions. While the "broken lockers" and limited "electric outlets at the room" were noted as minor deficiencies, the core features of a spa, dining, and ocean access remain central to the resort's offering, positioning it as a comprehensive leisure destination.

From a promotional standpoint, Water's Edge Resort & Spa can effectively leverage its strengths to attract local users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me." Highlighting its "nice and serene spot" and its "oceanside" location with beach access would appeal to those seeking a tranquil coastal getaway. Promoting the "excellent staff" and "great food" at its dining facilities are strong selling points. The spa packages, despite the noted service issue in one review, remain a significant attraction and can be promoted for romantic escapes, wellness retreats, or special occasions like birthdays, as one guest intended. Showcasing the "ocean view room and the balcony" with appealing imagery would also be very effective in capturing the desire for a scenic stay. For events, the resort can market its facilities for "company events" or other gatherings, leveraging its reputation as a comprehensive venue. However, it would be prudent for the resort to internally review and improve its spa management's handling of service disruptions and customer complaints to ensure consistency with the generally positive staff feedback. Addressing practical concerns like the availability of electrical outlets in rooms and ensuring all amenities are fully functional would also enhance guest satisfaction and word-of-mouth. Focusing on the overall experience of relaxation, good food, and beautiful scenery, while continuously working to refine service delivery, will enable Water's Edge Resort & Spa to remain a compelling choice for coastal resort stays in Connecticut.

Nice and serene spot! Visited off season in March for company event. Rooms and amenities are in pretty good condition for an old spot. Small beach but it's nice to see the ocean. Didn't have many electric outlets at the room. Loved the ocean view room and the balcony though.

Very disappointing experience this time around which is a shame because this used to be my go to weekend away from home. I booked the Royal Suite back in January for May trip. Upon check in, I was informed that they kindly upgraded my room to the Villa. I was a bit confused but decided to check out the upgrade. Nice space but I decided I'd rather have the room I had booked, especially since it was not connected to the main building and required a bit of a walk. I spoke to Cameron at the front desk who seemed puzzled that someone wanted to stay in the room they booked for themselves, as they apparently gave the room away. He then proceeded to question me as to why I wanted my original room and not their upgrade making me feel completely odd for not appreciating the upgrade when "other guests would have". Spent the weekend lugging my 4 month old baby, car seat, and luggage to and from the main building in the rain/back and forth just to get food and anything else we needed from the main building. Not sure what is the point in spending over 1k and being told you need to stay in whatever we put you in. Insane. Better ways to spend my money next time. Maybe at a hotel that doesn't question you on why you do not want to stay at a room you didn't even book!

We had a winter stay at Water's Edge, the first weekend of February 2025, and thoroughly enjoyed many things about it! We loved sitting by the fireplace in the lobby for the warmth and coziness. The Saturday night acoustic music was a nice touch to add to the bar area. The Sunday morning brunch was absolutely delicious. The beach area on the property was a great spot to watch the sunset. The staff at the front desk even gave us a toothbrush packet when we realized we forgot ours. We'll certainly return!

We were here for my brother's wedding reception and we had a great time! The rooms are a bit small and dated for the price, but still nice and we really didn't spend a ton of time in the room anyway. The staff was fantastic all weekend. We also got a massage the next morning and it was great. A wonderful experience overall!
