Front desk guy was kind even at almost 1am checking in. Room was decent size and everything was clean but obviously outdated. TV was old and blurry with no more than 10 channels and various working volume. One socket near the bed has something broken in the ground. Shower had good temp and pressure but the tub had what looked of remnants of maybe an old anti slip mat? Or something stuck to the bottom. Bathroom was clean but otherwise small. Quiet spot and check out was at 11, and no one knocked or was loud and I stayed almost right until then. Mini fridge and small hot water tea maker were also in the room. Small drive from main strip. No complaints just a little dated.
For individuals exploring options within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in the Old Saybrook and Westbrook area of Connecticut, the Quality Inn Old Saybrook - Westbrook is a 2-star hotel located at 100 Essex Rd, Old Saybrook, CT 06475, USA. As a property under the Quality Inn brand, it typically aims to provide a reliable stay with fundamental amenities. An objective introduction requires a thorough examination of both its perceived strengths and reported challenges, as conveyed by recent customer feedback.
Regarding the environment of the Quality Inn Old Saybrook - Westbrook, customer reviews present a mixed but insightful picture. On the positive side, guests have described it as a "Quiet spot," which is a significant advantage for travelers seeking a peaceful night's rest. The rooms are noted to be of "decent size" and generally "clean," indicating that the hotel maintains a basic level of hygiene. However, a consistent theme in the feedback is that the hotel is "obviously outdated" and "a little dated." This suggests that while efforts are made to keep spaces clean, the decor, furnishings, and technology might be older. Specific observations include "TV was old and blurry with no more than 10 channels and various working volume," and a shower tub that had "what looked of remnants of maybe an old anti slip mat? Or something stuck to the bottom." While the bathroom was described as "clean," it was also noted as "small." More concerning issues regarding cleanliness in some instances include "Hair In The Bathroom," a "Dirty Coffee Filter And With Residues Of Use," and a "Broken Or Old Towel" upon arrival. These inconsistencies suggest that while general cleanliness might be prioritized, attention to detail can sometimes be lacking. The exterior environment and surrounding grounds are not extensively detailed, but its location on Essex Rd implies a typical roadside hotel setting.
In terms of services, the Quality Inn Old Saybrook - Westbrook receives positive remarks for its front desk staff. One reviewer specifically mentioned that the "Front desk guy was kind even at almost 1am checking in," highlighting a helpful and accommodating service, even during late hours. The hotel generally provides a complimentary breakfast, though specific details about its offerings are not provided in the given reviews. However, issues related to operational services, particularly with guest access, have been reported. Guests experienced problems with "Door #5 It Doesn't Work," necessitating a search for another entrance. Furthermore, key cards repeatedly malfunctioned, requiring multiple trips to the lobby to get them reactivated, leading to "A Lot Of Stress Having To Walk The Whole Hotel To Get To The Lobby Again." This indicates a potential issue with the reliability of access systems, which can significantly impact guest convenience and satisfaction. Basic amenities like mini-fridges and small hot water tea makers were available in the rooms, adding a level of convenience. Housekeeping services are typically provided, though the initial cleanliness issues reported by some guests suggest room for improvement in consistency.
Key features of the Quality Inn Old Saybrook - Westbrook include the provision of in-room amenities such as a mini-fridge and a hot water tea maker, which are useful for storing beverages and preparing hot drinks. The rooms are described as having "decent size," offering adequate space for guests. While the TV was noted as old, its presence is a standard feature. The shower is highlighted for "good temp and pressure," which is a crucial aspect for many travelers. The hotel is a 100% smoke-free property. It also features a seasonal outdoor pool and a fitness center, providing recreational options for guests. Complimentary amenities include hot breakfast, WiFi, and parking. Guests can also enjoy free coffee in the lobby. The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing pets for an additional fee. Its location is described as a "Small drive from main strip," suggesting reasonable proximity to local attractions and dining, although not directly in the bustling center. Proximity to attractions like the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center and Saybrook Point is often highlighted in broader online descriptions.
The promotional information derived from customer reviews offers a balanced view. The positive aspects, such as the "kind" and helpful front desk staff, the "decent size" and generally "clean" rooms, and the "quiet spot," contribute to a positive overall impression for some guests. The fact that a guest stayed "almost right until" check-out at 11 AM without being disturbed suggests a relaxed and considerate environment. The presence of in-room mini-fridges and hot water tea makers is a clear convenience. However, the consistent mention of the hotel being "outdated" and the specific issues with old TVs, broken electrical sockets ("One socket near the bed has something broken in the ground"), and the critical problems with malfunctioning key cards and non-working doors, serve as significant cautionary elements. These issues could be major deterrents for prospective guests, leading to "A Lot Of Stress." Therefore, while the hotel aims to provide basic comfort and a quiet environment, potential guests should temper their expectations regarding modern amenities and be prepared for possible inconveniences related to room access and some aspects of cleanliness. The hotel's phone number, (860) 395-1414 or +1 860-395-1414, is available for direct inquiries and to confirm current conditions and amenities.

May 11, 2025 · Mario Gabriel Castillo MatíasConvenient location for one night stop over. Don’t look for the most up to date furnishings. Functional but dated. We managed a good nights sleep. Staff friendly, breakfast as advertised. Rooms could be cleaner but not acceptable.
Jan 01, 2025 · Alex HallThis a no frills straight up hotel. The property is clean, the grounds are well kept. The rooms are clean, the sheets and everything were in order. Free wifi, clean pool, friendly helpful staff. Would recommend.
Dec 24, 2024 · Dave PadillaWhile the place is in a decent enough location off of the highway. When you have to keep getting moved from room to room as it appears to only be partially cleaned, it's not ideal. While the staff seems friendly enough. The trouble trying to get into the pool area is rediculous. Why can't we just have normal buzzers or just leave the door open during the hours it is supposed to be open? Sadly enough, some of the outdated practices and setups seem to hold this place back. That and the miscommunication when setting up reservations. The best thing I can say for going there is the bar attached to the building is a neat little addition. As well as the later evening staff being very friendly.
