Edit: I have photos of all the discrepancies but I do not have an option to upload. I was very disappointed with our recent stay at Wilderness Resort. Upon arriving and inspecting our room, I found multiple cleanliness issues that were simply unacceptable—old food items on the floor, hairs and stains in the bed sheets, and even mouse droppings in the pull-out couch bed. The fridge was dirty, the room had a strong moldy or smoky odor, and the AC unit appeared to have visible mold inside. We tried dining at Survivors Bar & Grill and were underwhelmed. The food was overpriced and mediocre, and the atmosphere was uncomfortable with many shirtless guests inside the restaurant. Quiet hours were not enforced at all. Children were loudly running through the hallways as late as 11 p.m., and there were numerous intoxicated adults who were not supervising their children. I personally had to help rescue two unsupervised kids from the water—even with lifeguards present, they didn’t seem to notice the situation. On the positive side, the resort does offer a lot of activities, and we were never bored. The Starbucks inside the resort was excellent and ended up being the only food and beverage location we truly enjoyed. Ultimately, I’m giving this stay two stars: one for the variety of things to do, and one for the great Starbucks experience. However, the cleanliness of the room and the overall lack of enforcement of basic rules and supervision left a lot to be desired—especially considering the price. If the resort can address these serious issues, I would consider returning in the future.

The Wilderness Resort is more than just a single building; it is a massive complex that includes the Wilderness Hotel, Glacier Canyon Lodge, and Wilderness on the Lake. Some travelers, particularly those with large families, praise the accommodations and convenient shuttle system, which makes navigating the vast property easy. They appreciate the many lifeguards and the sense of safety provided in the waterparks. Conversely, some guests have expressed concerns about cleanliness in certain areas, the enforcement of resort rules, and the quality of some on-site dining options. These varied experiences highlight the importance of managing expectations for a stay at a major destination resort. However, the overwhelming variety of activities and the sheer volume of entertainment ensure that boredom is never an option, making it a highly desirable choice for an action-packed family vacation.

Jul 18, 2025 · Brandon MWe’ve stayed at Wilderness condos for two years in a row now. The accommodations are clean and convenient, and perfect for our extended family of 6 adults and 4 young kids. The shuttles are a great way to get around the resort and we used them multiple times a day. The water parks are well maintained and clean also. There’s plenty of lifeguards to keep watch of all the water areas; we always felt our kids were safe. The spa is amazing…I’ve been two years now and it’s the best way to sneak away from the kids for a few hours! We look forward to coming back next year.
Jun 24, 2025 · Tracy HettwerOverall pretty disappointed in our stay. On the outside it looks like a great resort. Inside the rooms are not clean, bathroom has mold in the bathtub the bathroom had not been cleaned. The room smelled and the air conditioning did not work very well. The service was not good, we had trouble finding places to eat that were open. If they were open they were understaffed and it took forever. I agree with a previous guests comment about the amenities. I was told my daughter wasn’t tall enough for the go karts but it said if she was 10 yrs old she could ride alone. The lady said no sorry she has to be 10 and meet the height requirements. That’s definitely not what the sign said. Then while in the playhouse area a worker came from across the room to tell my husband that our kids need to have socks on. I said our girls do have socks on, she started to argue with me then walked off. Came back a second time raising her voice saying the kids have to wear socks. I said our kids are wearing socks and pointed to our girls. She said no those two kids and pointed to the only other African American kids playing. She assumed just because these other children’s skin color was black that they were our children. There were about four other families around one of which who was African American, but she did not approach them. She said she assumed they were our kids because my significant other is dark skinned. I attempted to ask for a manager and was told the employee has a language barrier and can’t speak English she must have been confused. I said not to be rude she clearly knew what she said, she target our family and spoke in clear sentences. If I targeted her family and assumed children were hers because they looked “Mexican”, then I would be considered racist. I just didn’t have an overall great experience. It is really unfortunate because we spent a lot of money and time to stay at this resort. Will definitely try Kalahari instead next year.
Jul 29, 2025 · Allison WoodWe have been coming here for 12 years. We have stayed in the condos on the lake, the rooms on the resort and our last stay was a condo at Glacier Canyon. We prefer the condos because they leave you with room to spread out and we like to make breakfast in the full kitchen in the morning. The rooms and condos are always clean and if there are any problems they are quick to rectify the situation. Our son left his very sentimental baby blanket and I didn't notice until we hot home. Gail in lost of found was amazing and knew how badly we wanted the blanket back. I called in a panic and left a message and she returned my call to let me know they found the blanket and got it ready to ship it back to me. This is part of many reasons we keep coming back to the Wilderness. Great customer service, clean rooms, good food, and plenty enough to keep your kids busy your entire stay. Really no need to leave the resort if you don't want to. It does get very busy at peak times like the 4th of July so keep that in mind. They have added many new attractions and have remodeled many areas of the resort. We will keep coming back because it has become a loved tradition for our family.❤️
Jul 19, 2025 · Heather ParrovechioThe room I stayed in is a little dated but comfortable. There is plenty of space for the 7 of us. The wifi is acceptable, roughly 99 MB/s up and down. However, I am not here to hang out in a room. I am here for the water park and amenities. The water parks are fun. There are numerous water slides, lazy rivers, kids play areas, hot tubs and more. It is a little busy but there is always a spot in the pool somewhere. The seating in certain areas can be a challenge. If you have children and they enjoy the water I can almost guarantee they will enjoy themselves. The amenities (mini golf, laser tag, kids climbing areas and more) are hit or miss. I paid for the upgraded unlimited pass and played many rounds of mini golf. The kids climbing area seems reasonably priced and looks fun for adventurous kids. The amenities are a nice break from swimming. The bad Vending machines and in resort shops. I get it, they're going to up charge. However $4.50 for a 20 Oz soda and 35 dollars for 5 chocolates and half a lb of candy from their confectionery seems overkill. Overall I really enjoyed my stay here. There are plenty of places to eat outside of the resort within a 10 minute drive. I would suggest to anyone who asked my opinion that it is worth staying here. It isn't cheap but it is reasonable and my kids will have memories for a lifetime.
