The staff is not nice to families. We booked two suites in the off season with our 3 year old, 7 year old and 10 year old. We arrived in the afternoon and the staff immediately harassed my wife and kids because the kids were running in the hallway going to the room. The desk clerk yelled from the first floor to the second floor through the lobby "stop running". Than the general manager banged on our door and told my wife we needed to get our kids under control. This occurred around 4pm in the off season, with about 3 cars in the lot and no other guests in sight. We asked if any other guests complained they said no the staff complained. I asked the desk person who yelled at my family she said she did. I asked her what they do in peak season when the town is filled and families are there everyday she said we normally don't have children in this hotel and to talk to the general manager if I had questions. After repeated harassment by the staff my wife said she wanted to drive home 2.5 hrs. We packed up our stuff and left. I told the desk clerk not to charge us since she could not accommodate but she charged us. When checking in with the kids she also tried to say we didn't book one of the rooms. We left and won't go back. The breakfast buffet was not uedible food. Cold sausages, all processed food. The bacon was hard rubber like, the bread was like an elastic. We couldnt eat a bite of it. I would not recommend staying here the staff doesn't like kids and they don't want any kids there and they are not polite or accommodating.

The building itself dates back to 1812, with a rich history that contributes to its unique charm, blending classic architecture with renovated spaces.
The environment of the Wolfeboro Inn is designed to reflect its historic roots and its picturesque lakeside setting. The inn features cozy common areas, including a fire-placed lobby that invites guests to relax. The grounds are attractively landscaped, providing a pleasant outdoor space. The hotel has 44 guest rooms and 3 suites spread across 4 floors, accessible by elevator, though some rooms in the historic section may require stair access. The rooms themselves are designed with guest comfort in mind, offering an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings. Amenities generally include air conditioning, 32-inch LCD TVs with cable channels, MP3 docking stations, pillowtop beds with premium bedding, private bathrooms with showers and hair dryers, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Some rooms feature petite balconies, while others offer stunning lake views, city views, or partial lake views. When it comes to services, the Wolfeboro Inn aims to provide a full-service experience. The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk for guest convenience and a concierge service. For business travelers or event planners, the inn provides three meeting rooms with a total meeting space of 3977 sq. feet, capable of holding up to 150 people for banquets. Wedding services are also a key offering, with the inn providing an enchanting venue for celebrations of various sizes, with options for receptions in their Winnipesaukee Ballroom or under elegant white tents on the lawn, complete with catering crafted by their chefs.
A notable feature of the Wolfeboro Inn is Wolfe's Tavern, their onsite authentic New England restaurant. It serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, as well as Sunday Brunch. While described as offering traditional New England fare with a contemporary flair and reasonable prices, recent customer experiences regarding dining have been mixed. Some reviews praise the food and service, highlighting homemade options and specific dishes like the Orange Graham French Toast or the Smokey burger. However, other feedback mentions issues with food quality and service, particularly concerning the breakfast buffet with cold items and processed food, and some experiences with slow service or unpleasant interactions at the restaurant. It's important to note that the main Tavern has undergone renovations, with a separate Breakfast Cafe available. Coffee and tea are generally available in the lobby in the mornings, though some guests have expressed a desire for it to be available throughout the day, especially in colder months.
The Wolfeboro Inn also stands out as a pet-friendly hotel. During the winter months, dogs can stay free, with a registration fee typically applied in spring, summer, and fall. The hotel prides itself on its dog-loving staff and provides complimentary frisbees or tennis balls for four-legged guests.
While the Wolfeboro Inn offers many attractive features and services, some customer reviews indicate areas where experiences can vary. A significant point of feedback concerns the staff's demeanor, particularly towards families with children. Some guests have reported instances of staff, including the general manager and desk clerks, being unwelcoming or even hostile towards children running in hallways, leading to uncomfortable and unwelcoming experiences. This suggests that while the inn is generally open to families, the expectation for quiet behavior, even in off-peak hours, is high. This might make it less suitable for families with very young or active children. Other minor inconveniences mentioned include occasional issues with hot water availability, particularly in the mornings or for the entire building, and the absence of extra toilet paper in rooms. Despite these points, many guests have consistently praised the hotel's excellent location, cleanliness, comfortable beds, and the overall charm and historic ambiance of the property.
For those considering a stay, the Wolfeboro Inn is frequently highlighted for its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff (though this can be subjective, as seen in the family-related reviews). It offers amenities like free self-parking, a business center, and a library. The availability of free Wi-Fi is standard in all rooms and some public areas, with reported speeds good for multiple devices.
In terms of promotional information, potential guests can check various online travel platforms for deals. Prices can vary significantly depending on the season, with February and November often being the cheapest months to stay. Weekday stays, particularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, might offer better rates compared to weekends. The inn is also a popular choice for weddings and special events, offering comprehensive services for such occasions.
In summary, the Wolfeboro Inn offers a unique experience for those looking to immerse themselves in the history and natural beauty of Lake Winnipesaukee. Its historic character, private beach access, and on-site dining contribute to its appeal. While it presents itself as a full-service hotel, prospective guests, especially families with young children, may want to consider the varying experiences reported in reviews regarding staff interaction and suitability for children. Apr 25, 2025 · Dan CahillThe Wolfeboro Inn was an interesting experience. We stayed there for a hockey tournament with 5 of the families of our team. The kids got a little rowdy (in the afternoon) but nothing major. The staff let us know that we would need to leave if it continued because they have doctor's sleeping during the day there. The building is old but has nice character and was fairly clean, with the exception of the shower which could use a good corner scrub. I wasn't super impressed at the hot water situation. We were told at check in that it take a while for it to warm up, but the day of our check out there was no hot water in the entire building. The lobby coffee and tea was only available in the AM which kind of stunk, especially in the cold winter. We also didn't have any extra toilet paper in the room which was inconvenient when discovered when needed. The restaurant was expensive but tasty. They make their own bacon and had a lot of homemade options. It was just one gentleman working and he was great but could have used a hand. Overall, the stay wasn't terrible. Sometimes the devil is in the details. I would consider returning with just my husband for a weekend away but not a kid oriented hopping place.
Mar 02, 2025 · Emily HendersonThe staff was mostly very polite and helpful with my concerns and complaints. First, the heat wouldn't increase and the the shower water wouldn't heat. This was a problem throughout my stay even though I switched rooms. No hot water! The staff said just let it run for 15 or more minutes to warm up. It never got past lukewarm and the sink water got colder. This could be a really nice place to stay if they solve this problem. They would also benefit from making the place more welcoming and provide some comforts. The breakfast chef and waiter were very friendly and chatty.
Feb 18, 2025 · Maria CunninghamEmily was such a delight, my friend and I ordered two French martinis and they were the best we have ever had!!!!!! The general tso cauliflower was also incredible, and we had so much fun with the hotel ghost “Elizabeth” we will be back!!
May 02, 2025 · Alanna DivineAs usual my stay at The Wolfeboro Inn was a pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The restaurant and bar were closed for renovations, but the new O Bistro breakfast was sensational! I have stayed there, attended events, had events at the Wolfeboro Inn and would highly recommend it.
