For residents of Illinois, the need for an extended stay hotel can arise for a variety of reasons, from a temporary job assignment in a new city to hosting family for an extended period or simply needing a home base while moving. The WoodSpring Suites in Libertyville is a lodging option designed specifically for these long-term needs, offering suites with kitchenettes and affordable weekly and monthly rates. However, as with any local business, it is vital to have a clear and factual understanding of what a stay here entails. This article is written from the perspective of an Illinois local, providing a comprehensive guide to the WoodSpring Suites Libertyville, with a focus on its amenities, location, and the diverse experiences of its customers. This information is crucial for managing expectations and making an informed decision about where to stay, especially when considering the significant feedback provided by past guests.
The WoodSpring Suites brand is centered on providing a no-frills, value-focused experience for extended stays. The core concept is to provide a place that is more like a furnished apartment than a traditional hotel, with a focus on the essentials that long-term guests need. This includes a full in-room kitchenette, which is a major highlight for those who want to save money by cooking their own meals. The hotel offers nightly, weekly, and monthly rates, providing flexibility for different lengths of stay. The pet-friendly policy is also a great advantage for locals who need to travel with their furry companions. As one of the reviews points out, the hotel is located in a position that is advantageous for those attending events like a military graduation, suggesting a common use case for the hotel's services.
However, it is crucial to address the serious concerns raised in the provided customer reviews. Guests have reported issues with cleanliness, unprofessional and rude staff, and concerning policies regarding guest identification. One reviewer described a staff member as "EXTREMELY rude" and recounted being "cussed out & ridiculed" over a simple mistake with a key. Another guest reported finding mildew in their shower and a bug in their room, which are significant red flags for any traveler. These experiences suggest a potential inconsistency in service and cleanliness that is important for any Illinois local to consider before booking. While the hotel offers amenities that are attractive on paper, the quality of service and the guest experience seem to be a point of contention for some. The strong negative sentiment, including a reviewer who decided to "cut my stay & stay at the Hampton Inn across the street," indicates that guests may find more reliable service and comfort at other nearby establishments like Hampton Inn or Sonesta Suites, which they praised.

Jul 27, 2025 · C MarchI never write reviews, but how I was treated after attending my husband’s military graduation, I feel this to be necessary. I was cussed out & ridiculed, because I forgot my key to the front entrance. This isn’t like any normal hotel where you can walk in through the front entrance up to your room. Since this is different, I forgot. Instead of being understanding, I was met with “do you have a problem?” & then a cuss out. Despicable. I’ve worked in customer service before & so normally, I understand when situations go south. But the customer service recovery was not there. I decided to cut my stay & stay at the Hampton Inn across the street. I have no complaints there! I’ve even stayed in Sonesta Suites, four minutes down the road, & they’re amazing! Even give a military discount. I highly suggest you STAY AWAY!! Even if you go down to the front desk, if they don’t want to help you, they won’t. They will keep the gate shut until you go away. It’s awful!!
Jun 25, 2025 · Jordan WhiteWe booked this place only due to having a stovetop/kitchen available. However there was no kitchen amenities available. The smell was horrible in the room. Even though this is a smoke free hotel they allow pets. There is only a set of 2 bath towels and 2 washcloths. No hand towels, no Kleenex. No hairdryer. The only positive about the room is the full size refrigerator. I do not recommend this hotel.
Jun 29, 2025 · Debbie LoizOn June 20th, 2025, I booked a stay with Woodspring Suites in Libertyville from July 1st to July 31st. On June 26th, my travel plans changed and I successfully called them to move my booking to July 10th. Then, on July 9th, I called to move my booking to July 11th because my travel plans to drive from Virginia to Illinois were delayed by flooding in the Chicago area. At the time, I was told that my reservation had been successfully changed. When I got to the hotel on July 11th, I found out I'd been marked a no-call no-show and my room had been given away. I have screenshots to prove I called them on June 26th and July 9th. I also have an email dated for July 5th confirming my booking for the 10th. The manager, Nicole, claimed that when I called on the 9th I must've asked to change the reservation to the 10th. But I already HAD a booking for the 10th four days before I called them. Why would I want to change my reservation from the 10th to the 10th? Nicole cut me off repeatedly and refused to actually try and clear things up, preferring instead to impose her own claims over mine. Her next move was offering me a room for $134 a night from July 11th to 21st. My original booking was for $48.53 a night from the 11th until August. Nicole told me this was my only option and that I should find somewhere else if not, before going off to help another guest. I later learned she'd actually left the premises after leaving me waiting in the lobby. She refused to come and talk to me even after I asked the front desk staffer, Angela, to get her back. Calling the customer relations number listed on their website connected me with a call center for Choice Hotels, their parent company, who could essentially do nothing to actually help me find replacement lodging. What should've been a relaxing evening after several hours on the road became a horror show as we spent our dinner hours looking for last-minute accommodations. This whole fiasco seems senseless - I called ahead when my plans changed and was told my reservation had been changed successfully both times. The betrayal I felt when I arrived to find no room available was ALREADY considerable, but to be treated like I was lying? Left in the lobby with my best friend and my 5-month-old puppy while the manager went home without resolving the issue, informing us she would be unavailable after a certain time, or even passing on any information to the employee who took over for her? Nicole absolutely threw Angela under the bus! When I went up to the desk to ask about Nicole, Angela didn't know anything about what the previous shift had been dealing with. Not only is Nicole negligent towards guests, she left the night shift to sit in a mess she couldn't fix without even a heads up! What's more, while waiting for Angela to look up my reservation, one of the guests in line behind me started telling me about his own bad experiences with the staff. Clearly, something is terribly wrong with these folks. I can only hope staff at other locations are better trained, because it's otherwise a miracle Woodspring is still in business. This incident essentially left me, my best friend, and my puppy on the streets of Chicago until I move into my new apartment in three weeks. My opinion of Woodspring Suites is lower than rock bottom. I think their business practices are fallacious, irresponsible, and dangerous to those who would trust them. I'm wondering whether this was all just a way for Woodspring Suites to upcharge their customers after scamming me into thinking I have a room. If it was a plain misunderstanding, I can't fathom why Nicole's attempt to make things right would have me paying almost three times the rate of my original booking. You can be sure that this incident has put Woodspring Suites at the very bottom of my list for future travel accommodations. I have, at this moment, found lodging with ExtendedStay America until my lease starts and, so far, I've been met with immense grace and proactive kindness which makes the price increase to ~$70 a night absolutely worth it.
Jul 14, 2025 · Rowan KimNo one at front desk when my card stopped working during the day. Locked out of my room with no way to get in touch with anyone. Very good, thank you so much.
