Don't do it! What I hate about this place is that is claims to be something it is not. It is not a "polished hotel" and there is no complimentary breakfast, as listed on Google Maps. Phone number and emails to contact the host after reserving did not go through. The place is basically self-serve, like an AirBnb, but with worse access to information, cancellations, etc. We rented the top floor (largest) suite. One of the pull-out couches was broken and started to fold back in on itself when my daughter tried resting on it. Although the place appeared relatively clean, walking around barefoot I got pink sperm confetti stuck to my feet. Not exactly the vibe I was going for during a family stay. Presented more accuately, and with a replacement couch, and a different price point , this place could be fine, but as it is I feel like I got swindled.
Welcome to 7 On Strath, an accommodation option situated at 7 Strathallan Park, Rochester, NY 14607, USA. As a property that appears under the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, 7 On Strath offers a unique lodging experience for those seeking a stay in the Rochester area. To provide a comprehensive understanding, let's delve into its environment, services, features, and some insights gleaned from user experiences, keeping in mind that this is an objective introduction based on available information.
7 On Strath is located in Strathallan Park, a part of Rochester, NY. This area is generally known for its proximity to various city attractions, making it potentially convenient for visitors. The address, 7 Strathallan Park, Rochester, NY 14607, places it within a residential or mixed-use neighborhood. The immediate environment around the property would likely consist of other residential buildings or possibly some local businesses, depending on the specific block. The overall atmosphere of a neighborhood like Strathallan Park can vary, but generally, Rochester offers a blend of urban amenities and green spaces. Being located in a park setting suggests a potentially quieter and more pleasant immediate surroundings compared to a bustling downtown street, although this would depend on the specific layout of the park and surrounding areas. For travelers looking for accommodation near specific Rochester landmarks, its location in Strathallan Park would be a key factor in their decision-making process.
Based on customer reviews, 7 On Strath operates with a self-service model, akin to an Airbnb. This implies that guests primarily manage their own check-in, check-out, and general stay without a traditional hotel front desk or on-site staff for immediate assistance. This self-serve approach can offer a sense of independence and flexibility, which appeals to some travelers. Communication with the host appears to be primarily through phone at (585) 626-7174 or mobile at +1 585-626-7174, as direct contact numbers are provided. However, some past guests have indicated challenges with contacting the host. The property is described as offering suites, with the top floor being the largest. This suggests that 7 On Strath caters to guests looking for more spacious accommodation than a standard hotel room, potentially suitable for families or small groups. Amenities within the suites may include pull-out couches, as mentioned in a review, indicating provisions for additional sleeping arrangements. The general cleanliness of the place has been noted as "relatively clean" by one guest, though a specific incident regarding confetti was reported. The self-service nature also suggests that daily housekeeping, if offered, might be an opt-in service or not provided in the same manner as a full-service hotel.
It is important to acknowledge customer feedback to provide a balanced introduction. Several reviews highlight discrepancies between expectations and the actual experience at 7 On Strath. One significant point of contention raised by a past guest is the claim of being a "polished hotel" with "complimentary breakfast" on platforms like Google Maps, which reportedly were not accurate. This suggests that potential guests should manage their expectations regarding traditional hotel services. The self-serve model, while offering independence, has been described by some as having "worse access to information" and difficulties with cancellations, implying a need for clear communication and accessible policies. A specific concern raised was a broken pull-out couch in the top-floor suite, which could impact the comfort and utility for guests relying on it for sleeping. Another review mentioned issues with neighbors and perceived harassment during a social gathering, leading to an early departure. This points to potential challenges with noise or community relations within the complex. The issue of "pink sperm confetti" found on bare feet, though appearing to be an isolated incident, raises concerns about the thoroughness of cleaning. These points collectively suggest that while the property offers spacious accommodation, prospective guests should be fully aware of its self-service nature, the potential for limited direct host interaction, and review past guest experiences regarding comfort and neighborhood dynamics.
Given the nature of the property and the feedback, 7 On Strath seems to be positioned as a self-catering or apartment-style accommodation. For a platform categorized as "Hotels Near Of Me," it serves individuals or groups looking for lodging that is more independent than a traditional hotel. Its suitability for families or small groups is enhanced by the suite offerings. Prospective guests should consider 7 On Strath if they prefer a less formal, more self-sufficient stay and are comfortable with potentially limited on-site support. The pricing would be a key factor, as one review suggested that at a different price point and with certain improvements (like a replacement couch and more accurate presentation), the place "could be fine." Therefore, value for money, considering the self-service model and reported issues, would be a significant consideration for potential bookers. For those who prioritize privacy, space, and a home-like environment over conventional hotel amenities and services, 7 On Strath might be a suitable option, provided they research thoroughly and understand the operational model. Its proximity to local Rochester attractions due to its Strathallan Park location could also be a draw for tourists or visitors with specific itineraries in the area.
In conclusion, 7 On Strath offers an alternative accommodation experience in Rochester, NY, operating on a self-service model. While it provides spacious suites in a potentially convenient location, potential guests should temper expectations regarding traditional hotel services, be prepared for independent management of their stay, and consider the feedback from previous visitors regarding communication, amenities, and neighborhood interactions. It caters to a segment of travelers who prioritize independence and space, aligning with the diverse offerings typically found under "Hotels Near Of Me" categories that encompass various lodging types beyond conventional hotels.

Sep 06, 2021 · Sarah ShamelTerrible host and agonizing neighbors in complex. Security and neighbors felt the need to follow us around and harass the small social gathering all night long didn't think having a party of six was a real disturbance on a Friday night. Wasn't even worth staying for the one night if being rented out got so bad we decided to leave by midnight.
Jul 11, 2021 · Antoine JeffriesBeautiful house converted into a small hotel and event space. The top floor was very spacious and accommodated a fairly large group of people. The porch is a perfect place to sit and relax.
Jul 04, 2016 · Josh McCrackenGood value. Comfortable beds. Room layout is inconvenient with little ones. There was a persistent knocking all through the night that was loud enough to keep me up.
Mar 18, 2023 · Adam RivardAs with most hotel stays there is the good and the bad. First the good. The Staff at the Strathallan Hotel were uniformly wonderful. They were pleasant, accommodating and cared about their guestsnotably the Assistant Front End Manager, Ryan Wade. He went the extra several miles to solve our issues (see below. As to our suite: The mattress at 7 on Strath was wonderful. It is the+ sort you want to buy for your own home. Sadly that is the end of the good. 7 on Strath describes itself as "a luxurious private oasis in the heart of Rochester's Cultural District. It is in the Cultural District, so that much is accurate. We stayed in the Strong Todd Suite which certainly did not live up to the pictures on their website. It does have a bedroom and living room, but you can only get from one to the other by (1) leaving the suite, going into the public hallway, and entering the suite, or (2) by walking through the bathroom. We were surprised to find that the heat/air return was choked with dust so much that up to 20% of the open space was blocked. It took two days of requests to have someone "turn on the heat in the building" and allow us to bypass the presets. The fan was on when we arrived, and I finally had to stand on the mattress and reach up precariously to turn the fan off without turning off the light as well. And they need to take the dead bugs out of the fan’s light globe at some point. Both rooms had flat screen TV's as promised but they were somewhat haphazardly mounted on the wall and in the bedroom the cable box (you get basic cable from Spectrum) sits perched on top. In the living room it sits on the desk with bundles of wire showing above it. And there is no phone in the suite at all. The bathroom, was described as a “state-of-the-art oversized bath". The room is small, with a sink and a basic Home Depot vanity, a toilet and a shower. There is an oddly large piece of weatherstripping on the threshold from the bedroom. There is no place to put toiletries and the amenities that are in the bathroom are on a tray that overhangs the edge of the vanity so things are falling off regularly. I noted the first night that the shower dripped continuously, which is not conducive to peaceful sleep. After reporting this twice the hotel "engineer" came and tried to stop it. He did reduce it but it remained dripping for the entirety of our stay. He said he would later repair the toilet paper holder which was hanging by a thread. There was mold or mildew around the base of the shower and the shower door would not open easily and one of the two doors twice fell in the shower while doing so. And there is a single towel bar mounted over the toilet so there is no place to put a wet towel other than on the shower door or the single hook on the door to the living room. The room is so small that you cannot open the door to the bedroom while standing at the sink since it opens against the sink. And the living room side door is so swollen it closes and opens only with significant force. There was no housekeeping during our stay and we had to carry out our trash. The Wi-fi in the room 2 and 3 Mbps which made streaming anything impossible. A reboot of the cable modem, after two complaints did nothing to improve the speed. There is more, but you get the picture. . Since the Strathallan and 7 on Strath say they have EV charging stations, we gladly rented an EV for our visit. We learned that to use the EV charging stations you need to open an account with the third party provider with a base balance of $40 and you could use that to charge the vehicle at the rate of $0.25 per minute so that is hardly the amenity suggested. This was a good lesson in buyer beware. In fairness, Ryan Wade, the Assistant Front End Manager did everything humanly possible to assist us and saved some of the reputation of the Strathallan. But we would never consider staying at 7 on Strath again. (Photos attached)
