I recently had a disappointing stay at the AC Hotel in Cambridge, which I feel compelled to share. The room temperature was unbearable. Despite having a thermostat, it didn't function at all, leaving the room sweltering hot. As someone staying there for an athletic competition, this was incredibly frustrating. The heat made it nearly impossible to rest or recover, which is essential before a big event. The room was so uncomfortable that I had to sleep with the window wide open, but it didn’t help much. It’s clear that the hotel isn’t prepared to accommodate guests, particularly athletes who need a conducive environment to rest. The lack of proper climate control was a serious issue and completely detracted from the experience. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected better, especially considering its proximity to important events. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you need a comfortable, climate-controlled environment to rest before a big competition. Additionally, there were drainage issues causing our shower to flood into the bedroom area. Staff did respond quickly but it was an inconvenience that could have been avoided. Despite the issues with the room temperature, there were some positive aspects of our stay that I'd like to highlight. The staff at the AC Hotel Cambridge were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always eager to assist with any inquiries or requests. Additionally, the housekeeping staff did a great job keeping the rooms clean and refreshed throughout our stay, with frequent cleaning that made the space feel comfortable. The hotel's modern decor was also a standout—sleek, stylish, and well-maintained, which added a nice touch to the overall ambiance. It’s clear that the hotel takes pride in certain areas, and these aspects did enhance the experience. Given the discomfort and inconvenience caused by the unreasonably hot room and the malfunctioning thermostat, I believe a reimbursement for the nights I stayed is warranted. Additionally, I would appreciate it if points could be added to my account as compensation for the negative impact this experience had on my stay. I trust the hotel values its guests and will address this issue promptly. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to a resolution. UPDATE: the GM responded and was very gracious in reimbursing us and awarding points for our troubles. Much appreciated.

Drainage issues in showers, causing water to flood into the bedroom area, have also been reported, though staff have typically responded quickly to these concerns. Additionally, during high-demand periods like graduation weekends, the hotel may implement surge pricing, which some guests have found to be significantly higher than typical rates. The cost of breakfast has also been a point of feedback, with some guests feeling it is expensive for the quality offered. Room comfort, including the firmness of beds, quality of pillows, and shower water pressure, has also been a varying experience for guests. Mar 17, 2025 · Joy Robbinsi had a few problems with this hotel. first, they charged us a predatory $400 in surge pricing per night since it was graduation weekend in Boston. The hotel wasn’t even full. I know this because second, the hotel also made a mistake with our reservation on booking.com, having us staying for one night fewer than we had booked for. Booking had it correct, but somewhere along the way the hotel itself messed it up, sending someone to knock on our door in the morning halfway through our stay. in their favor, they seemed to manage this after our conversation with the front of the house. third, we had issues with the room. The AC had poor temp control, so that I woke up sweating at 74° and freezing at 75. The bed was hard, the pillows were cheap, and the shower was low pressure. I didn’t get a single good night sleep during my stay. finally, breakfast is expensive. If you’re going to charge me $400 a night to stay at a $180 hotel, you could at least hand out a breakfast voucher. they have a good location in the city.
May 19, 2025 · A HMy better half and I always enjoy our stay at any Marriott Hotel. The AC brand holds a special space not only because those are my initials but because the atmosphere and decor are always relaxing and pleasing. First time at the Boston Cambridge location, but it does not disappoint. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Will definitely come back.
Mar 30, 2025 · Amos ChungLocation is the best part about this hotel for sure. Easy access to public transportation makes it a quick trip downtown when desired. As for the rooms, the beds were saggy and not very firm making for an uncomfortable sleep. However the warning is about the breakfast. We ate on the last morning and it was terrible, the oatmeal was cold, the attendant ignored us when we asked for spoons and when we complained to the front desk, especially given the $45 charge, we were told they would let management know. In my world the charge should have been removed from our final bill, given we really didn't eat the breakfast!
Apr 07, 2025 · Andrew BrownMy stay at AC Hotel Cambridge was nothing short of wonderful. I arrived early in the morning after a long flight, exhausted and desperately in need of a hot shower and rest. While I knew standard check-in time was 3:00 PM, I decided to ask Krupa at the front desk—who was incredibly warm and kind—if early check-in might be possible. Despite the hotel being fully booked the night before (meaning no rooms were immediately available), Krupa assured me they’d prioritize cleaning a room for me as soon as possible. Thanks to the efforts of Housekeeping Manager Yvette, my room was ready far earlier than expected—a rare and generous gesture that truly stood out. To my surprise, they didn’t charge any extra fees for the early check-in and even complimentary breakfast! This level of hospitality is exceptional. Both Krupa and Yvette went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and cared for. If I’m ever back in Boston, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose AC Hotel Cambridge again. Thank you for such a memorable experience!
