Mixed feelings. Staff and engineers are very nice. I got to the room, and as soon as I opened fridge door, it fell off. I made capsule coffee and used a creamer, which expired 4 months ago.. Big blob of cream went into coffee and ruined it. Grease around table that’s not well cleaned. They do not make up room even when you hang the request hanger on the door knob. Parking costs $25 per night. I mean, it’s not in the center of the city and so many empty lots available that’s shared with other tenants. Just rent up those spaces. Seems out of blue. Upside is a strong wifi.

The hotel's location in West Cambridge provides strategic access to various points of interest. It's particularly convenient if you are visiting Harvard University, which is approximately 2.5 miles away. The hotel also boasts proximity to the Fresh Pond Reservation (just over 700 feet away), offering green space and walking trails, and the Fresh Pond Golf Course (1.2 miles away). While not in the immediate city center, its location near major arteries like Alewife Brook Parkway (also known as Fresh Pond Parkway) provides easy access to Routes 2, 3, and 16, facilitating travel to other parts of Cambridge and Boston. The availability of a complimentary shuttle service to local attractions within a 2-mile radius, including Harvard Square and Cambridge Business Park, enhances its accessibility, although it's important to note this service is based upon availability.
The Freepoint Hotel Cambridge is characterized by its contemporary and stylish design, which aims to create a unique and inviting atmosphere. As a Tapestry Collection hotel, it distinguishes itself from more conventional chain hotels with a focus on local art and a distinctive aesthetic. The lobby and common areas are designed to be appealing, featuring elements like an outdoor fire pit and a billiards table in the lounge, encouraging relaxation and social interaction. There's also a "Secret Garden," an indoor/outdoor space that offers a serene retreat within the urban setting.
Overall, the hotel is generally well-maintained, contributing to a pleasant environment. However, some guest experiences suggest that while the property is modern, there can be isolated issues with upkeep, such as a refrigerator door falling off or cleanliness concerns like grease around tables. While these appear to be specific incidents rather than a widespread issue, they highlight that maintenance attention can vary. The hotel is a non-smoking property, ensuring a fresh indoor environment for guests. The atmosphere aims for a sophisticated yet comfortable feel, appealing to those who appreciate thoughtful design beyond standard hotel layouts.
A consistent positive note in guest reviews for the Freepoint Hotel Cambridge is the "very nice," "awesome and sweet," and "helpful staff." Many guests praise the hotel's team for their professionalism and willingness to assist, including engineers who are responsive to maintenance issues. This dedication to customer service is a significant asset, contributing to a generally positive guest experience despite other potential concerns.
The hotel offers a range of services designed for guest convenience. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available in all rooms and public areas, a feature praised by guests for its strength. A 24-hour front desk ensures around-the-clock assistance. For business travelers, there's a 24-hour business center and co-working spaces. Daily housekeeping is offered, though one review mentioned issues with rooms not being made up even with the request hanger, indicating occasional inconsistencies in service execution. Other services include express check-in and check-out, luggage storage, ATM/banking services, and a gift shop/newsstand.
However, guests should be aware of certain charges. Parking costs $25 per night with in/out privileges, a point of contention for some guests who feel it's excessive given the location. More notably, there is a "destination fee" or "food charge" of $25 per night per room. While some sources describe this as a "destination fee" that includes a $25 F&B credit to be used in Freepoint Kitchen and premium internet, others have perceived it as a mandatory daily food charge they "had to fight" to avoid. This fee structure requires clear communication and understanding at check-in to avoid misunderstandings.
The Freepoint Hotel Cambridge offers 121 guest rooms, featuring a blend of modern design and comfort. Rooms are typically described as spacious, with Deluxe King and Deluxe Two Queen rooms starting at 350 square feet. Each room is equipped with comfortable pillow-top beds, premium bedding, a 50-inch flat-screen TV with premium channels, a work desk, a mini-refrigerator, a microwave, and a coffee/tea maker. Other amenities include an in-room safe, iron/ironing board, and designer toiletries from Lather. Hypo-allergenic bedding and free cribs/infant beds are also available. Connecting/adjoining rooms are an option, making it suitable for families or groups. The hotel is also pet-friendly, welcoming dogs for a fee (max 150 lbs per pet, dogs only, $100 per stay), with VIP pet amenities like treats and bowls.
For dining, the hotel features Freepoint Kitchen & Cocktails, which serves breakfast and dinner daily, emphasizing locally sourced ingredients. While breakfast is available, it is not complimentary and incurs a charge of approximately $15-$18 for adults and $12-$15 for children. The restaurant also includes a bar/lounge area. Additionally, there's a Starbucks on-site and a 24-hour Lobby Pantry for quick snacks and beverages. Guests can also utilize a free grocery shopping service.
Recreational features include a 24-hour fitness center equipped with a Peloton™ Bike, allowing guests to maintain their workout routines. The aforementioned Secret Garden and the billiards table in the lounge offer alternative ways to relax. The hotel also offers bicycle rentals, and there are opportunities for hiking nearby at Fresh Pond Reservation. While no swimming pool is listed, the other amenities aim to provide a comprehensive and engaging stay.
As a Tapestry Collection property, the Freepoint Hotel Cambridge participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty program. This allows guests to earn points for stays, access exclusive member rates, and utilize benefits like digital check-in and Digital Key. Booking directly through Hilton's official website or the hotel's site is recommended to ensure eligibility for these benefits and access to any ongoing promotions. Hilton Honors members can often find discounted rates or packages that include parking or food credits, potentially mitigating some of the additional fees.
The hotel's website often features various offers, such as "Park & Stay" packages that include complimentary overnight parking for one car (normally $25 plus tax). Other general promotions like advance purchase discounts or seasonal offers might also be available. While the hotel generally receives positive feedback for its location and overall quality, the additional charges for parking ($25 per night) and the daily "destination fee" ($25 per night) which is linked to an F&B credit are points of concern for some guests. When evaluating "Hotels Near Of Me" options, travelers should factor these charges into their total budget. Despite these extra fees, the Freepoint Hotel Cambridge is often seen as a sophisticated and convenient option for exploring Cambridge and the greater Boston area, particularly for those who appreciate boutique hotel aesthetics and the reliability of the Hilton brand.

Apr 17, 2025 · Hisashi OguchiGood location if you are visiting Harvard. Rooms were clean and bed comfortable. On the negative side, they “charge” 25 dollars for food everyday which I did not like. Had to fight it to not get charged
Apr 04, 2025 · Jose DiegoHorrible experience. Everything you read about the hidden fees being a scam is true. My room was paid for, and I was asked to present a card for deposit purposes. No one at the reception told me that the Destination Fee would be deducted from my own account, so I gave them a card without knowing that I’ll indeed be charged $75. When I called them, all I got was an apology. This aside, the walls in rooms are horrifyingly thin — nothing makes a stay worse than when you can hear other guests flush their toilet or spit in the sink. Really gross.
Mar 30, 2025 · Setayesh DashtiHotel charges a mandatory $25/day fee to apply toward food while staying. I booked through Expedia and it didn’t mention anything about this fee until I booked and saw the summary. I told hotel was not informed of the fees and told them I had plans for breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day of my stay. They understood and waived the fees.
Mar 21, 2025 · Chris KohlsCute hotel perfect for local bars and restaurants within 15 minutes... and great location to visit downtown Boston. Food and drinks from indoor bar reasonably priced and delicious. $25 on site in-out self serve parking lot fee no problem as many places don't even have a parking lot. BEWARE or ASK extra $29 "destination fee" charge NOT DISCLOSED upon check in online or in person. Charged to credit card AFTER checkout and had to call hotel to inquire. Apparently it's a public cost for their "amenities" whether you use them or know about them or not
