I'm giving a 2 star which is more than generous. I'm staying here bc I'm currently homeless. I just got out of the shower and they gave me a towel with brown stains all over it.馃あ Not only that, but there is a sticky spot on the carpet that I can't get out, annd the blankets have all sorts of stains on them. I shouldn't be my job to try and clean it anyways. There are children here's this place should be spotless so they don't get sick. This is a disgusting outrage! I'd post a picture of the disgusting towel but idk how to do that atm.

Auburn Inn Introduce

For local users searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Auburn, New York, with a primary focus on finding highly affordable accommodation, Auburn Inn presents itself as a budget-friendly option. Located at 19 McMaster St, Auburn, NY 13021, USA, this establishment aims to provide very basic lodging at a competitive price point. Potential guests should temper expectations based on the hotel's pricing and be aware of common feedback from previous visitors.

Environment: Functional Simplicity with Varied Impressions

Auburn Inn is a modest, two-story property with 30 rooms. It features exterior corridors, which is typical for economy motels, providing direct access to rooms from the outside. The hotel was built in 1980 and has seen various renovations, though the extent and recency of these updates are not always consistent across all rooms. The overall aesthetic leans towards simple and functional, rather than modern or luxurious. The property is smoke-free in its rooms, although general outdoor areas may be used by smokers.

Its location on McMaster Street places it within Auburn, New York, a city with historical significance and cultural attractions. The hotel is situated in a quieter area, which can be a draw for some guests seeking less urban noise. Proximity to local points of interest like the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park, Willard Memorial Chapel, and the Schweinfurth Art Center would require a short drive. For dining, there are a few local eateries and fast-food options accessible by car. However, some customer reviews indicate a general impression of the "place smelled" and suggest that the property might be catering to a clientele that includes long-term residents, which can affect the overall atmosphere for transient guests. The visual representation on booking sites might not always align with the reality experienced by some guests, as one reviewer specifically stated, "The pictures of their website are very deceiving!"

Services: Bare Essentials with Customer Service Variances

Auburn Inn provides a limited array of basic services, which aligns with its positioning as an economy motel. A 24-hour front desk is typically available, offering assistance with check-in and check-out. Complimentary Wi-Fi is generally offered, aiming to provide internet access to guests. Free self-parking is available on-site, a standard amenity for such properties. The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing guests to bring their pets for an additional fee, which can be a significant draw for pet owners seeking affordable accommodation.

However, customer reviews frequently highlight significant shortcomings in the execution and consistency of these services, particularly regarding cleanliness and maintenance. Issues reported by guests include:

  • Rooms not being cleaned to an acceptable standard prior to guest arrival.
  • Stained towels and blankets, with one guest describing "brown stains all over it" and "all sorts of stains on them."
  • Unpleasant odors in rooms, such as the "place smelled."
  • Lack of expected in-room amenities, such as a mini-fridge, despite being shown in pictures.

While some guests might find the service at the front desk to be "good," the recurring issues with room cleanliness and condition indicate a major inconsistency in service delivery. This suggests that while basic provisions are made, the quality of these provisions can vary significantly, leading to a less than ideal experience for some guests. The expectation for a "spotless" environment, especially with children present, is often unmet according to the reviews.

Features: Minimalist In-Room Offerings

The guest rooms at Auburn Inn are equipped with fundamental amenities designed for a no-frills stay. Standard room features typically include air conditioning, a private bathroom (likely with a shower/tub combination and basic toiletries), and a television. Some online listings might indicate that rooms offer a desk, telephone, and possibly a microwave or refrigerator, but recent customer feedback suggests that a mini-fridge might not be present even when depicted in promotional images. The size of the TV has also been noted as being very small, resembling "the size of a laptop."

The overall condition of the room features is a major point of concern raised by guests. Reviews describe "sticky spots on the carpet," "worn out" showers, and general signs of wear and tear, which suggest that the facilities might be older or not consistently maintained to a high standard. The lack of attention to detail regarding cleanliness and upkeep creates an environment that can feel neglected and uncomfortable for guests. The impression that many rooms are occupied by "permanent residents" might also influence the general atmosphere and wear on the facilities.

Beyond the rooms, specific common area features are not extensively highlighted. As a budget motel, it's unlikely to offer extensive amenities like a fitness center, pool, or business center. The primary feature is its provision of affordable sleeping accommodations. The 24-hour reception is a key operational feature, ensuring guest access at any time.

Promotional Information: Focused on Low Cost

Auburn Inn's primary promotional strategy revolves around its highly competitive pricing, positioning itself as one of the most affordable accommodation options in the Auburn area. Guests looking for the absolute lowest price point for a night's stay might consider this hotel. Given its independent nature or affiliation with a smaller chain, specific large-scale loyalty programs like those offered by major hotel brands are typically not applicable.

Potential promotional aspects often include:

  • Base Low Rates: The most consistent "promotion" is its inherently low nightly rate, which is designed to attract budget-conscious travelers. One reviewer indicated a rate around $100 per night, even with a discount, suggesting this is a typical price point, though they felt the quality warranted a much lower price of "$40 a night."
  • Pet-Friendly Accommodation: The ability to bring pets, potentially for a lower fee than larger chains, can be a significant draw for a specific segment of travelers.
  • Direct Booking: Guests are encouraged to call the hotel directly at (315) 253-8886 or +1 315-253-8886 to inquire about current availability and rates, as online travel agencies might have varying pricing.
  • Weekly/Monthly Rates: For guests seeking extended stays, especially those requiring temporary housing (as indicated by the review regarding homelessness or "permanent residents"), the hotel might offer discounted weekly or monthly rates, though this information is not explicitly detailed online and would require direct inquiry.

It is crucial for prospective guests to carefully weigh the low price against the potential for a basic or compromised experience, as reflected in the direct and candid customer reviews. For those prioritizing minimal cost above all else, and who are prepared for potential issues related to cleanliness and amenities, Auburn Inn might fit the bill. However, for travelers expecting higher standards of comfort, hygiene, and modern facilities, it would be advisable to consider other options.

Rooms were ok, no mini fridge but showed one in the pictures. TV was size of a laptop, the place smelled the service was good but I wouldn't stay there again. Seemed most of the rooms were for permanent residents. Price wasn't worth it that's for sure , for the quality of what you got should of been $40 a night. Really disappointed

Rooms are in good shape, basic. The mini fridge and microwave are great assets. The bed could have used a new mattress on one side, but wasn't too bad. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice grassy areas to walk my dog around. I would stay here again. 馃槉

Very clean, fresh, sheets were spotless, pillows were so comfortable. TV, refrigerator, microwave worked. Bathroom was freshly scrubbed. Staff was extremely helpful!! (Even helped bring in my heavy bags!) Best of all, a very quiet place to stay!! No yelling in the halls.. very relaxing!

All good, but maintenance and cleaning need improvement. On July 12, 2022 we checked in and were put in room 201, for 1 night. - I noticed a few black curly hairs on the floor. Not ours. - The toilet seat was visibly dirty, meaning it had not been cleaned for many days. Dirt happened to be easily removable by rubbing with a damp toilet paper (and then I washed with soap, of course). - The washroom door knob was falling apart, even though still functional. - The entrance door had a hole in it, 1/2 inch in diameter. Not good for noise insulation. - The door closer did not work properly, so the door slammed if not held by hand till it closes. Attaching photos. The toilet seat shown is from a different motel where we had stayed a week before, but this one was similarly dirty (just did not bother to take a photo before washing it). Hope the management takes measures.
