For local users and travelers in Auburn, New York, who are searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" and whose primary concern is finding the absolute lowest possible price for a night's stay, Scottish Inns & Suites Auburn, located at 255 Grant Ave, Auburn, NY 13021, USA, may appear as an option. However, it is imperative for any potential guest to approach this property with extremely managed expectations, as extensive customer reviews highlight significant and widespread issues regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and overall guest experience. This introduction will provide an objective overview, drawing heavily from the candid feedback available online.
Scottish Inns & Suites Auburn is an economy motel, typically characterized by exterior corridors and a basic, no-frills structure. Online information suggests it was built in 1990, indicating an older property. While official descriptions might allude to standard motel aesthetics, actual customer reviews paint a starkly different picture. The environment is repeatedly described as "disgusting," "filthy," "dingy and grimy," and "very run down." The lobby/office area is reported to be "gross" and "very dirty and unkept," setting a negative first impression.
Beyond the interior, the exterior surroundings also raise concerns. Guests have reported "questionable onlookers watching everything we were packing in," suggesting an uncomfortable or potentially unsafe atmosphere around the property. The presence of a "bees nest with bees flying around next to entrances to rooms" further indicates a severe lack of maintenance and pest control, which is a significant environmental concern for guest safety and comfort. The overall state of the property, as conveyed by multiple reviews, points to a neglected and poorly maintained environment that falls far below typical hospitality standards.
Regarding its location, 255 Grant Ave places it along a commercial thoroughfare in Auburn. While this might offer some proximity to businesses or major roads, the immediate surroundings, as described by guests, contribute to a less desirable environment. For exploring Auburn's historical attractions or the Finger Lakes, a vehicle would be necessary, as the area is primarily commercial strip development rather than pedestrian-friendly cultural districts.
The advertised services at Scottish Inns & Suites Auburn typically align with those of a budget motel: a front desk for check-in/check-out and basic inquiries, and some form of Wi-Fi access. However, the execution and reliability of these services, as detailed by customer experiences, are critically flawed. The front desk staff, while sometimes present, has been described as "unprofessional," with one review mentioning a "tow truck business behind the motel desk." This suggests a lack of dedicated focus on hotel operations and guest needs.
The most severe service failures revolve around basic room readiness and hygiene:
While basic services like check-in are technically offered, the fundamental failure to provide a clean, safe, and functional room negates any perceived value. The severe lack of housekeeping and maintenance staff oversight, or an unwillingness to address these core issues, makes any other advertised service almost irrelevant in the face of such profound deficiencies.
The in-room features at Scottish Inns & Suites Auburn, as depicted in guest reviews, fall significantly short of even basic expectations for lodging. While a standard room might theoretically include beds, a bathroom, and potentially a television and air conditioning, the actual condition of these features is a major concern. Specific complaints include:
It's important to note that the features advertised on typical hotel booking platforms or the brand's general website (e.g., free Wi-Fi, certain room amenities) are overshadowed by the reported reality of unsanitary and non-functional conditions. The disparity between online pictures and actual room conditions is highlighted as "very deceiving." Essentially, the most prominent "features" of this property, as conveyed by guest experiences, are its severe cleanliness and maintenance issues rather than any beneficial amenities.
The primary, and arguably only, promotional aspect of Scottish Inns & Suites Auburn is its low price point. For travelers who are operating on an extremely tight budget and are willing to overlook significant cleanliness and safety concerns, the hotel might offer one of the cheapest nightly rates in the area. One review mentioned a cost of "$100 for the night and that was a discount because of the condition of the first room," but the guest felt it "should of been $40 a night" for the quality received.
Typical promotions for such economy motels might include:
Given the overwhelming negative feedback regarding unhygienic conditions, safety concerns, and difficulty with refunds, any "promotional information" for Scottish Inns & Suites Auburn should be viewed with extreme caution. Potential guests are strongly advised to consider the implications of such widespread issues before booking. While the phone numbers (no contact details provided in the prompt) would typically be given for inquiries, based on the customer feedback, it's clear that direct communication did not always lead to a satisfactory resolution for guests. The repeated advice from former guests to "Save your time and money!!!" serves as the most potent, albeit unofficial, promotional warning for this establishment.

Get directionsNot familiar with Auburn, almost stayed here with family while traveling. Place is disgusting. Rooms were filthy, no towels, looked very dingy and grimy. Called ahead and reserved a room. I opened door to room well after check out time to find two people hanging out smoking, and the room a complete mess. Lady at the desk was unprofessional AND running a tow truck business behind the motel desk. There was a bees nest with bees flying around next to entrances to rooms. Probably the worst motel I have ever seen. I am so glad I decided to leave right away & get a refund after seeing the room. It was almost funny how many things were wrong with this place. I would not recommend this place to anyone that I liked.
Aug 07, 2014 · Mike SaturnA little run down is very much an understatment!!!! my husband and i travle for a living and we stay in hotels 99% of our time. We got here for a 2 week stay and didn't even stay for 15 mins. 1st going into the office was gross (to be nice about it) very durty and unkeeped. We got our room and as we were packing things in we had a group of qustenable onlookers waching eveything we were packing in. ( as soon as we were done they went back to thier rooms) Once in the room my husband went to the bathroom to find the toilte was used and also broken. I went back to the office were 2 girls told me that the owner know it was this way and placed us in there anyway, and also that the room hadn't been clean after the last person moved out over 2 weeks ago! it very easily the dirtist place i've ever been. they moved us to a 2nd room, that was just as dirty as the 1st one that hadn't been cleaned, and the ac didn't. I didn't want to even sit on anything in the room. SO VERY GROSS! I would never stay here! the beds were VERY dirty and all looked very very very very used. When i went to get our money back the owner was no long there and had to be called i had to talk to her on someones cell phone and at 1st didn't want to give me my money back.... i did but it was a little bit of a fight. Save your time and money!!!

Nov 24, 2017 · Elk HunterWhy hasn't this place been closed down by the health department or building inspector as a public nuisance? Seriously!
Sep 08, 2018 · Jim DPretty sure this is just a dumping ground for sex offenders or something, I don't think I'd ever stay here if I was from out of town.
