Came in to check in and automatically the smell was overwhelming and awful. The attendant at the desk was arguing with a man about his room. After this I checked in the attendant was very polite. When I got to the room it smelled even worse. The carpets were extremely stained. The lamp shade and curtains were stained as well. The sheets had some red orange ish stain as well. Paint was peeling in the tub and the soaps looked already used. I immediately checked out and chose not to stay. Only good thing was how polite the staff were.

The Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes Introduce

For local users in Auburn, NY, and those exploring accommodation options via the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, The Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes presents itself as a potential choice. Located at 37 William St, Auburn, NY 13021, USA, this establishment's name suggests a connection to the scenic Finger Lakes region, hinting at its potential appeal to budget-conscious travelers looking for a convenient base. To provide a comprehensive and objective introduction, it is essential to detail the hotel's environment, its reported services and features, and how its pricing might factor into a local user's decision, incorporating direct customer feedback to offer a transparent view.

The environment surrounding The Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes, situated on William Street in Auburn, NY, is typically one that blends residential areas with commercial practicality. William Street, like many streets in established towns, can range from quieter residential stretches to busier areas with local businesses. Auburn itself is a city with historical significance, known for its connection to prominent figures and its place within the broader Finger Lakes region, which attracts tourists interested in wine trails, natural beauty, and historical sites. The hotel’s address suggests it is part of the local Auburn community, providing access to everyday amenities and potentially being within a reasonable driving distance of downtown Auburn's cultural attractions, such as the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park, Seward House Museum, and local eateries. While the name evokes the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes, the immediate environment is more likely to be a reflection of an urban or suburban setting rather than a secluded lakeside retreat. Proximity to major roads would be a factor for accessibility, though the specific traffic levels on William Street would vary. The overall environment would be one of a functional base for exploring the area, rather than a destination in itself.

The services offered by The Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes, based on the provided customer reviews, primarily highlight the human element of hospitality. Consistently, guests praise the staff, describing the "attendant at the desk" as "very polite" and noting, "Only good thing was how polite the staff were." Another review reiterates this, stating, "The guy at front desk was nice and friendly. Even tried to offer a lesser rate." This suggests a strong focus on friendly and accommodating customer interaction, which is a valuable service, especially for budget-conscious travelers. The ability to check in late at "2 AM via an outside app" with staff "waiting for me" indicates a 24-hour reception or a system for late arrivals, which is a crucial service for flexibility. However, details on other common hotel services, such as complimentary breakfast, Wi-Fi availability, or parking, are not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. While these are often standard even in budget inns, their specific quality or presence cannot be objectively confirmed from the given information. The negative feedback regarding the room conditions implicitly points to a lack of sufficient housekeeping or maintenance services, which are critical to guest satisfaction.

The features of The Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes, as described by recent customers, present significant concerns regarding cleanliness and maintenance. While one review initially stated "Rooms were good for the price," and "Room was clean, bed was not bad ac was cool," subsequent and more detailed reviews paint a very different picture. Features like the "smell was overwhelming and awful" upon entry and in the room, "extremely stained carpets," "stained lamp shade and curtains," and "red orange ish stain" on sheets are critical negative points. Furthermore, issues such as "Paint was peeling in the tub," "soaps looked already used," a "leaking" mattress with "multiple protectors that increasingly accumulated a diversity of stains," and a "singular upholstered chair...liquid stained with crusty spots" indicate serious deficiencies in cleanliness and upkeep. The absence of a microwave in the room and only "one trash can in bathroom" are also noted as minor inconveniences. The vending machine with only "one row filled" and "Pop Secret popcorn" suggests limited convenience features. While the hotel aims to provide basic room features like a bed and AC, the reported condition of these features appears to be a major deterrent for guests, directly impacting the perceived quality of the stay. The lack of "obvious signs of bed bugs on my mattress" is a rather alarming observation that, while a negative, implies the guest was actively checking for such infestations, highlighting a concern about overall hygiene.

For promotional information, The Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes, as it might appear on a "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, would likely focus on its competitive pricing for budget travelers and the noted friendliness of its staff. The phrase "Rooms were good for the price" from one review suggests that affordability is a key selling point. The hotel might advertise itself as a convenient stop for those visiting the Finger Lakes or passing through Auburn. Given the negative feedback regarding room conditions, the hotel's promotional messaging would need to be very carefully managed to accurately reflect its offerings without misleading potential guests. While the staff's politeness is a consistent positive, it cannot solely counteract significant issues with room hygiene and maintenance. Promotions might focus on basic nightly rates, or perhaps "long-term stay" options if it caters to such needs, though the "price he charged me for three nights I paid less a week in California for same level of hotel" comment suggests pricing for longer stays might be a point of contention. The phone numbers, (315) 252-7567 and +1 315-252-7567, would be vital for direct inquiries, allowing guests to verify details or potentially discuss rates. The "Hotels Near Of Me" platform would allow the hotel to list its basic information and availability, appealing to guests whose primary concern is finding a very low-cost place to stay. However, the severe negative reviews imply that any promotional efforts must be weighed against the actual condition of the property and its impact on guest satisfaction.

In conclusion, The Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes, located at 37 William St, Auburn, NY 13021, USA, presents itself as a budget-oriented option for users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me." Its environment offers practical access to Auburn and the Finger Lakes region. While the hotel consistently receives praise for its friendly and accommodating staff, the overwhelming feedback from recent customers points to severe issues with room cleanliness, maintenance, and overall hygiene. Despite its potentially competitive pricing, prospective guests must be fully aware of these significant concerns regarding the physical features of the rooms. Promotional information would likely emphasize affordability and staff friendliness, but potential guests are strongly advised to consider the detailed customer reviews when making a booking decision.

Mattress had multiple protectors that increasingly accumulated a diversity of stains as they were peeled back like an unsettling onion. The singular upholstered chair at the foot of the bed was liquid stained with crusty spots. Everything smelled like spoiled milk and desperation. No obvious signs of bed bugs on my mattress. The ground floor vending machine only had one row filled and it was Pop Secret popcorn. I think I’ve acquired a contact opioid addiction.

An absolute dump and unsafe! Spend the extra and avoid this place! I wish we would have. The pictures they have of this place must be 20+ years old, because the hotel we thought we booked turned out to be more of a underworld slum apartment complex rather than a place you'd ever feel comfortable closing your eyes in. Seems like people who are down on their luck and up to no good actually live here. Very seedy characters, barking dogs and an overwhelming feeling nothing good happens in this place. When we got into the building, the first thing you notice is the putrid stench beyond this place being absolutely run down into shambles. The room itself was disgusting. Looked like no one has actually cleaned it in a very long time, complete with graffiti on the framed picture and holes in the walls. Shower and sheets were filthy. Furniture, carpet, curtains and appliances in decay and filthy. Cracked window. After we got into our room, about ten minutes later a man started banging on our door, yelling/mumbling incoherently. My wife was frightened. I'll just let some of the pictures of our room speak for themselves. Take my advice and just STAY AWAY!

Cockroaches live there, got bedbug bite, smelly weird and discomfort, outdated and worn old rooms, plumbing failures, if you try to cancel, then is no refund. Your valuable stuff can be missing, alarm clock and phone missing. Didn’t vacuum floor. Lack of bed sheet and no bed fitting. Wet floor towel, Shady! Why is there homeless people hanging out at far corner of parking lots among with junk place? Are they waiting for to have money to use this hotel? This place is former day Inns and they had downgraded to worst.
