I should’ve known this place was sketchy when the sign out front said “Vacany.” No “a.” Just a glowing neon promise of poor choices. I check in, and the guy at the front desk — who may or may not have been asleep with his eyes open — hands me a key attached to a used bottle opener. “Room 14,” he says. No smile. No emotion. Just doom. I get to the room, swipe the key, and the door creaks open like it’s part of a haunted house ride. And there they are. Two fully naked strangers going at it like they were trying to summon Zeus. I’m talking limbs flying, bed shaking, one sock on — full cinematic chaos. The guy made eye contact with me and had the audacity to say, “Yo, you want next?” NEXT?? I slammed the door so fast I’m pretty sure I time-traveled. Went back to the desk and told Eyeless Carl what happened. He squints at me and says, “Oh yeah, Room 14’s got double bookings sometimes.” DOUBLE. BOOKINGS. SIR, THIS IS NOT AN ESCAPE ROOM. Got a new room. It smelled like wet pennies and broken dreams. The remote didn’t work, but somehow the TV played Shrek 2 on loop in Russian. The shower made a noise like someone whispering secrets to the plumbing. The soap disintegrated when I touched it, like it was emotionally overwhelmed. At one point, I heard moaning through the wall and thought “Again?!” but no — it was just the pipes. Or the ghosts. Or Carl. Zero stars. Would’ve been better off sleeping in a port-a-potty behind a Waffle House.
When searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Bedford, Massachusetts, the Bedford Motel at 30 North Rd, Bedford, MA 01730, USA, may appear as an option, particularly for those prioritizing budget-friendly accommodation. The phone number for inquiries is (781) 275-6300 or +1 781-275-6300. However, based on customer reviews and available information, it's crucial for prospective guests to approach this establishment with tempered expectations and a clear understanding of its potential shortcomings.
The Bedford Motel presents itself as a straightforward, traditional motel. Online descriptions mention it being "surrounded by lush forests and in the heart of historic Bedford, Massachusetts," suggesting a tranquil, historic setting. However, customer experiences paint a different picture regarding the immediate atmosphere and maintenance. One review colorfully describes the general vibe as "sketchy" with a sign saying "Vacany" instead of "Vacancy," which immediately sets a tone of disarray. The overall environment, as suggested by reviews, points to an older property that may not have received significant modern updates. This can translate to less than ideal conditions, including potential issues with cleanliness and general upkeep that are common in older, economy-focused motels. While some online information mentions a renovation in 2007, and recent reviews from 2022 still highlight issues, it indicates that comprehensive modernizations might not have been implemented or maintained consistently across all units. The noise factor is also a recurring theme, with mentions of "cars and trucks flying up and down the road revving their engines as loud as possible," implying that despite being in a somewhat historic area, traffic noise can be a significant disturbance.
The services offered at Bedford Motel appear to be quite basic, aligning with its budget motel categorization. Key advertised services include free Wi-Fi, free daily coffee in the lobby, and ample free parking. While these are standard amenities, the actual quality of these services can be inconsistent. For instance, one guest reported "horrible wifi" with the only strong signal being at the office, undermining the utility of "free Wi-Fi" for in-room use. The free coffee is a simple convenience, but it's not a comprehensive breakfast offering.
The most alarming service-related feedback comes from the booking and check-in experiences. One customer reported being told upon arrival, after a long drive, that their Expedia booking didn't exist because "the motel is booked up," despite having a confirmed reservation. This suggests significant discrepancies or communication issues with online travel agencies. The staff interaction described in this review was also negative, with the employee being unhelpful and seemingly wanting the guest to leave quickly. Another review details a shocking incident of being given a room that was already occupied by "two fully naked strangers," followed by a casual acknowledgment from the front desk of "double bookings sometimes." This points to extremely poor management of room assignments and potentially a lack of security or oversight. While these are extreme cases, they serve as a strong warning regarding the reliability of the booking process and overall guest service.
Other general services that might be expected at a motel, such as a 24-hour front desk, are listed in some online sources, but the reviews suggest that staffing may be minimal or unresponsive at times. For example, a guest mentioned "no one at front desk" and having to "knocked and banged on the door" to get assistance, only to be "screaming like a mad man." This contrasts sharply with the expectation of friendly and accessible service.
The room features at Bedford Motel are described as traditional and straightforward. Amenities typically listed include air conditioning, a private bathroom, television, refrigerator, and microwave in each room. Some rooms may offer blackout drapes/curtains. According to some booking sites, some rooms may also include iron/ironing boards and soundproofing, although customer reviews regarding soundproofing are contradictory with the report of "super thin walls and floors."
However, the actual functionality and quality of these features are heavily scrutinized in customer feedback. Issues reported include:
Given its status as a budget motel, the primary "promotional" aspect of Bedford Motel is likely its price point, which is typically lower than chain hotels in the area. Some listings indicate rates in the range of $85-$149 USD per night. The motel also offers free self-parking, which is a value add for guests with vehicles. It accepts major credit cards like American Express, Visa, Euro/MasterCard, and Discover.
The motel's location at 30 North Rd in Bedford, MA, positions it in a historic town. It's noted as being "only a short drive from motorway I-95," allowing guests to "easily discover the surrounding areas." Nearby attractions mentioned include Nashoba Valley ski area, Great Brook cross-country ski area, and the "quaint towns of Lexington and Concord" which are rich in American history. It's also stated to be "five miles from the Burlington Mall, Minuteman National Park, the Heritage Museum, and Historic Lexington Center." Downtown Boston is approximately 23-25 miles away. While these are geographical advantages, the negative guest experiences regarding the hotel itself may overshadow any benefits of its location.
In conclusion, while the Bedford Motel may appear as an economical choice when searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," the overwhelming customer feedback highlights significant concerns regarding its environment, the reliability of its services, and the functionality and cleanliness of its features. Prospective guests should be acutely aware of these potential issues and consider the highly variable and often negative experiences reported by previous travelers before making a reservation. The reviews suggest that guests prioritizing basic comfort, consistent service, and a reliable booking experience might find better value and satisfaction elsewhere in the area.

May 18, 2025 · sebastian millerSo I booked accommodations here through Expedia and when I got to the hotel(after driving 3+ hours from NY) a woman came out and gave me the vibe of “What do you want?” I told her I had a room here, and after she asked for my name she said “You do not, the motel is booked up.” She said that this was an issue with Expedia and that they had told them many times about this issue. After this she kind of wanted me out of there, and I had to ask her multiple times if she had their phone number, because she mentioned she had talked to them many times over the phone. She finally reluctantly gave it to me. After that she left the room and closed the door. Now I don’t blame her for the mistake, it was Expedias(who I chewed out but that’s a story for a different time) but just the way she was acting was unnecessary to me and in the end, I am GLAD this happened as I got reassigned to the Archer Hotel which was a lot better in all aspects. IMO there are better hotels in the area and I wouldn’t come back here in the future based on this interaction.
Mar 17, 2025 · Edward ChowBarely passable. We stayed two nights in a queen non smoking room. Booked it on Booking.com (Cheaper than their own website) Check in process was extremely quick and simple. However, we checked in around 6pm and they gave us a key card. We went out and came back just after midnight and the card did not work. I had to go to the front desk and luckily someone (looked like the owner) in pajamas came out and fixed the card. The room was filthy. There was dust everywhere that looks like it's been there for years. The sheets had stains on them. The mattress cover had tears in it and the mattress felt extremely old but I slept well. I don't believe that they were changed. The windows were dirty, the micro fridge was so dusty that I thought it was going to break. The microwave was decades old but it did work. The chair had stains on it, the bathroom tiles had stains, walls had stains. One of the pillows had cigarette burns in it. The shower was actually decent and the bathroom was a nice size but there were exposed wires above the mirror. Everything just felt extremely dirty like it hasn't been cleaned in years. There were also flies flying around. The TV was very large and had a good cable package. Overall, it is not a good place. There's a few bright spots but it is an extremely dirty place. It is the cheapest place in the area by far but it may be worth it to spend more to get a better place. It's barely passable.
Oct 13, 2024 · Carl MalinowskyI needed proof of my stay due to fraud on my card. They had no record of my stay from just over a month ago. Sketchy AF seeing as they scanned my license and everything. Likely leaving me in a situation where I cant prove my stay and wont be able to resolve the fraud. Thanks for nothing.
May 20, 2025 · LaurieI spent there 21 days and I loved the privacy and the professionalism and hospitality, I had my children and husband and we loved the place will be visiting again.
