Our stay at the Best Western Longbranch Hotel & Event Center was extremely disappointing. The entire property felt poorly maintained. Hallways smelled unpleasant, bugs were visible in common areas, and the pool and gym were dirty. Even the exterior felt more like an outdated apartment complex than a hotel. We stayed in 421 ( 2 bed/2 bath), which had such a strong odor of mothballs that it made us physically sick. We had to leave just to purchase air fresheners and candles to tolerate being in the room. To make matters worse, there were constant, overwhelming cooking smells throughout the halls, which we later realized were coming from suites being used by hotel management or their family. As paying guests, it was incredibly frustrating to feel like we were staying in someone’s private residence, not a professional hotel. We ended up needing to check out a day early due to a personal emergency and requested an exception. Despite explaining the urgency of our situation, management refused to refund the unused night and showed no flexibility or compassion.- will never stay again! So sad!

Response to General Manager: Thanks for your public response, despite your lack of effort to contact me directly. I'll save you an investigation; the smell is mold. I added a picture of black mold from your hotel to my review for you to see. The city of Marion doesn't enforce mold problems (I checked), so you're safe until people start getting sick. I won't be back to any BW hotels, certainly not your musty petri dish. It's too bad that all the water in the air couldn't save the plants you forgot to water. Original Review: We stayed in room 102. The room was a bit dated and crammed, but otherwise clean. The bed was nice. The gym and lounge area in the atrium are unique and kid-friendly. The gym is pretty cool. The one star is for the bad deal and bad service. When we booked, we liked the photos of the hotel. I expected that the $130 to book a room with a queen bed would compete with a nice hotel like Marriott. It just doesn't live up to that. The hotel is kinda crummy and dated. The building smells like mildew and just isn't as nice as we expected. The room has a loud electric "humming" sound like a fusebox. About 10 minutes after checking in and walking around, I explained to the man at the front desk that I didn't like the hotel and asked if we could leave and get a refund. His answer was essentially "no way, just go outside to avoid the stinky areas." I just took the L and dealt with it. The Holiday Inn down the street looked nice. There are a few other hotels in the area that offer nicer rooms and probably better service for like $30-40 less than this hotel.

First of all - DO NOT GET A ROOM ON THE FIRST FLOOR. The rooms on the first floor are in a different building than the rest of the hotel. That means if you want ice, breakfast, pool, gym, you need to leave your building, walk across the parking lot, climb stairs, get on an elevator to the second floor and go down the hall. Laundry services are also in that building. Second the room was so damp and musty, it was disgusting. Even the carpet was damp. My skin was damp, our clothes were damp, the bedding was damp. The room was very clean but the bathroom was so tiny you could barely turn around in it. Last, the bed was old, mattress was mushy and extremely uncomfortable. I can’t believe this is a convention center and that Beat Weayern would have such a terrible hotel. I would not recommend and will never return.

It was a very nice and quiet get away for me and my husband. The hotel is beautiful and there is a free breakfast with lots of options. We will definitely be staying again here.

The whole hotel smells like musk and mold. The room was aggravating my allergies and asthma so much I couldn't relax no way I was going to be able to sleep. I decided to cancel the room after a couple hours and find a different hotel. Still got charged for one night. Save yourself the money and stress and find a cleaner hotel.
