For visiting relatives this weekend we booked the last room available at this Holiday Inn near Marion, IA for a 3-night stay. The desk clerk mentioned it was a handicapped accessible room. That was ok even if that meant a walk in shower with a hand held sprayer, that would still be fine for the two of us. Having an emergency hallway button or the added lower key hole view finder on the door should NOT equate this to being a handicapped accessible room. Our bathroom had a regular tub with a sit-down bench if needed. It had a standard shower head on the wall and one grip bar. The tub floor had very inadequate slip prevention with the only grip bar located under the shower head but not where one would stand. Our bathroom did have a grip bar along side the toilet but that had to also be our towel rack as the bathroom had no place designated for all the towels other than putting them on the toilet bowl lid or back on the wet tub. We travel enough to have seen that even a small sink area with limited counter top space can benefit from hotels having a shelf under their sinks. But this room didn't have that either. I will add that it was a shame that the mechanism for opening our window shade had stopped working combined with the desk light that didn't work the first day we came. We were aware that this was a busy weekend for the hotel due to a sport activity going on in the area. It became very apparent that the breakfast area is not set up to seat that many groups of people in such a small space. For all the things that Holiday Inn is known for this was not an enjoyable stay but we politely said nothing when we left. Lastly, please don't advertise this room as "handicapped accessible" because it is not.

Jul 21, 2025 · Nancy DavisHad a good stay, the overall service was great but their housekeeping staff isn’t the best - had to request for towels at the front desk twice along with a bath mat, and they only made my bed one day out of the entire week. Breakfast was tasty! Front desk staff were a little bit slower paced than I am used to but they were very friendly.
Mar 02, 2025 · J C (JC)We loved this hotel! It is very clean, the pillows and beds are comfortable and the staff is excellent. I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn. The location is great too!
Jun 30, 2025 · Rachael BallardUpon coming into Cedar Rapids for work I wanted to check in and get acclimated. The original front desk agent was polite but while I was trying to get my IHG number added to my CLC reservation for work the sales manager butted in to say that I may get an upgrade but won't receive any points. It was what it was. I proceeded to take the room they gave. I wanted a nap before working that night. Shortly after laying down another guest I'm assuming started slamming doors. Not much of a nap. I went to work but before took a shower to a less than optimal shower head. The water sprayed all over but on you. After work came back to lau down before a conference call but couldn't due to all the folks checking out making noise. Took my conference and grabbed food came back to nap and then get up for dinner. After dinner I was still tired but couldn't go to sleep due a child not being monitored by his parents running back and forth in the room knocking on the walls. The child did it again at 530am on Saturday. I would love a call from the Sales Manager to discuss all this.
May 17, 2025 · Benjamin SlocumIt is good for the price. I do not expect it to be a 5-star hotel. But what you get for what you pay is fair. Love that there us coffee & hot water available all day
