Jan 10, 2025 · Peter PWe've stayed here twice. This hotel has a certain charm, even though it's extremely dated and could use an updating. On the plus side, the staff has always been friendly and accommodating. The free continental breakfast is perfectly fine, with pastries, muffins, bagels, eggs, sausage, and fresh waffles from one of those machines where you make them yourself. There's even a moderately sized game room that the kids enjoyed spending time in, and $20 between two kids let them have a bit of fun (even though I think the selection of games is lacking a bit). The rooms are also perfectly fine. They're clean and beds are comfy. You really can't ask for more (and I've had worse!). The biggest attraction for us is the location, relative to Santa's Village, which is why we've stayed here: it's about six minutes away, which couldn't be better. The only downside is that rooms are dated, especially the heating / cooling unit in the wall, which is loud and finicky. You can tell everything needs maintenance. Our sink has some kind of clog and is slow draining. The bathroom door doesn't properly close. One of the lamps won't turn on. But these complaints are relatively minor. I suppose I'd give them more weight if I was paying more, or staying in a major tourist area, like NYC or Orlando. But for the area, and considering that the hotel is otherwise clean and the staff are friendly, it almost adds to the small town charm in a weird way.
Nov 17, 2024 · Matt MartinWe’re not necessarily boujee hotel people. We’ve stayed at hostels in Europe and Ritz Carltons. My main thought is I just want to get what I expect. This hotel is pretty much exactly what I expected. Right down the line of cute and kitschy/dumpy, but leaning more toward cute and kitschy. With some better upkeep and cleaning, it would be an excellent hotel. And five minutes from Santa’s Village! The room itself was fine and quite large. I mean, I wouldn’t walk around long barefoot and I took the bed covers off lol But it was generally okay. The bathroom was awful. Cracks, chips, dirt, and stains. Food clogging the sink that my husband had to clean out with a straw. Slow water draining (probably because of the food). Filthy shower curtain that didn’t cover the whole side so water flooded the floor. The shower nozzle and knob were broken. They provide cheap shampoo but no conditioner or body wash, just those tiny bars of soap that are impossible to hold and fall apart in 2 seconds. I can overlook a lot with a nice bathroom so I’d like to see those improved. The hotel pool is also what you’d expect. A bunch of duct tape holding one corner together. Hot and way too much chlorine, but kids absolutely love it so it’s fine. It was crowded every time we went and our 4 year old had a blast. Never any towels in the pool area but they have a rack next to the front desk. A pretty neat game room! We didn’t have time to play in it but that’s the sort of thing we love. Breakfast in the morning isn’t bad. Coffee, juice, a few cereals, bagels, toast, English muffins, make your own waffles, bacon skins (that’s what my husband called them because they were so thin and soggy haha), and some eggs I wouldn’t personally trust but hey, overall it was all fine. They even had Nutella packets so my daughter actually ate food! Front desk staff are nice. They had our room ready a little early. The Mountain View from the back of the hotel is gorgeous and we had snow overnight. Ask for a back facing room if you can! There is an annex building across the street so we were careful to call and be sure we were in the main building. The floors and walls are thinnnnn. We joked with multiple people that your alarm clock is a kid running down the halls because it’s like they’re running in your room it’s so loud. And it’s mostly families staying there so if that bugs you, this may not be your spot. We’d stay here again. Probably just for a night but that’s all we need. The 3 stars isn’t a criticism or an argument not to stay here. Go into it with the right expectations and it will be a pleasant stay. If they put some work into the place, it would be awesome.
Dec 09, 2024 · Elise SBooking is a bit misleading. There is a second building with walk up rooms across the street which is where our reservation was though that was not expressed in the booking. The bathroom was very clean. Room is not “fresh” looking but seemed clean. We were able to still have access to the continental breakfast.
Oct 16, 2024 · Jaylee PoindexterThis place was very dated and looked deserted from the outside. There was a lot of room inside but seemed like it hadn’t been updated in 20 years. It was not very clean. There was a huge pool but it needed work. There was tape holding one corner of it together and it was very cold. We couldn’t go in the hot tub because it was empty. Breakfast seemed OK. We headed home and by the time we got home in vermont my whole family was very sick we aren’t sure why but I am assuming it was food poisoning. We will not be staying here again
