This hotel does not have accessible rooms. They reserve the room by saying that it is accessible. Then, they give you a very large room with no accessibility in the bathroom: No grab bars around the toilet and in the shower. Shower's entrance is high that makes it impossible to enter with a wheelchair. Then, they charge you double as they claim it is an upgrade to stay in a large room while it is totally inaccessible. They also indicated that the hotel is under renovation (I have not seen any renovation.) so that they don't have any rooms with grab bars, which is a must for people with mobility issues. Besides, there are lots of ants roaming next to the bed, on the nightstand, and the bed itself. I also attached a picture showing a high bar table with stools, which is totally useless for me.

Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie Introduce

For individuals and groups exploring options through platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" in the Dunkirk, New York area, the Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie presents itself as a property with a significant presence due to its location and purported amenities. Situated at 30 Lake Shore Dr E, Dunkirk, NY 14048, USA, and reachable by phone at (716) 952-4611 or mobile at +1 716-952-4611, this hotel is positioned to offer a convenient base for travelers, particularly those interested in lakeside activities or attending events at its conference facilities.

The environment of the Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie is characterized by its prime location on Lake Shore Drive East, offering views overlooking Lake Erie. This provides a scenic backdrop and potential access to the waterfront, which is a significant draw for many visitors to Dunkirk. As a conference center, the hotel is designed to accommodate larger gatherings and events, with extensive meeting and banquet rooms available. The hotel also features common areas including a lobby with a fireplace, a restaurant, a bar/lounge, and a coffee shop/cafe, suggesting various spaces for guests to relax and socialize. However, recent guest feedback indicates that while the location and external views can be appealing, the internal environment of the hotel, including elevators and rooms, has been described as "old" and lacking proper cleanliness or maintenance in some instances. Some reviews mention issues such as "dirty" elevators and rooms that "weren't cleaned properly before arrival," with "stuff in the fridge." This suggests a discrepancy between the potential of the location and the current state of internal upkeep, which can significantly impact the overall guest experience.

The services advertised by the Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie aim to provide a comprehensive stay for both leisure and business travelers. The hotel offers a complimentary hot continental breakfast buffet daily, which is a standard and convenient amenity for many guests. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, catering to connectivity needs. Recreational facilities include an indoor heated pool (though one review noted a "seasonal outdoor pool" on Trivago, contradicting other information, suggesting it's important to verify current offerings), and a 24-hour fitness center. For business and event needs, the hotel boasts over 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including banquet rooms and meeting rooms, along with a business center equipped with computer stations, printers, and fax machines. Event catering services are also available on-site. The front desk operates 24 hours a day, and there are claims of "helpful staff" and "very professional" front desk clerks attempting to assist guests. However, serious concerns have been raised regarding services, particularly for accessibility. Guests have reported being assured of accessible rooms only to find bathrooms without grab bars, with high shower entrances making wheelchair access impossible. Furthermore, there have been complaints about rooms not being cleaned or receiving fresh towels during multi-day stays, and issues with non-functional heaters and key cards. These discrepancies between advertised services and actual delivery are significant for potential guests.

The features of the Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie are varied, intended to cater to a broad audience. Guest rooms typically include private bathrooms, coffee/tea makers, hairdryers, refrigerators, and flat-screen TVs with cable/satellite channels. Some rooms may offer a microwave, while others feature amenities like a whirlpool. The hotel offers various room types, including King rooms, Double rooms, and Suites, with some rooms having "Partial Lake View" or "Lake View." For events, the conference facilities, including the "Lighthouse Room" and "Bayside" rooms, offer flexible space with audiovisual equipment options. However, critical issues have been noted concerning room features and safety. Reviewers have highlighted problems such as "deafening roar" from heater units that don't work, "scaled up" shower heads that soak the bathroom, "ants roaming next to the bed," and even "dollar store adapters that illegally convert grounded lamps." The lack of true accessibility features in rooms designated as "accessible" is a serious concern, as is the claim of being charged for an "upgrade" to an inaccessible room. This indicates that while the hotel advertises certain features, their functionality, safety, and actual availability or quality may be inconsistent.

From a promotional standpoint, the Clarion Hotel Conference Center on Lake Erie markets itself as a prime location for events and a comfortable stay overlooking Lake Erie. Its proximity to Lake Erie (a "5-minute drive from Lake Erie," and some sources say "short 10-minute walk"), SUNY Fredonia (about 1 mile away), the Dunkirk Lighthouse & Veterans Park Museum, and the Rockefeller Arts Center are key promotional points, appealing to tourists, families of students, and those attending local events. The hotel also promotes itself as a wedding venue and a convenient option for group outings and work trips, leveraging its conference facilities. The inclusion of a restaurant (Steelbound Brewery is mentioned as the on-site restaurant), a bar, and a coffee shop/cafe adds to the convenience. However, the numerous and serious negative customer reviews regarding accessibility, cleanliness, room maintenance, and safety issues significantly contradict the promotional image and present a substantial challenge. For users searching "Hotels Near Of Me," while the location might initially attract attention, the detailed feedback from recent guests serves as a critical objective counter-narrative. It suggests that while the hotel has the potential due to its location and infrastructure, prospective guests should exercise caution and directly verify specific room features, particularly accessibility, and inquire about recent renovations or maintenance efforts before booking to ensure their expectations are met and to avoid potentially dissatisfying experiences.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I spent two nights to the deafening roar of my heater unit while freezing, only to find out the heater isn't even working. They moved me to a new room with no door number and my key wouldn't work. While I was at the front desk for the second time, two people came down to report the rooms they rented were already occupied. The hotel is old. The elevators are dirty. The phones dont work. My room wasn't cleaned properly before my arrival; there was stuff in the fridge. The shower head is so scaled up that it soaks the whole bathroom while showering. They have dollar store adapters that illegally convert grounded lamps so they will plug into ungrounded cords. The front desk clerk was very professional and tried his best, but he's working for a sinking ship.

Pretty disappointed and in general we're not tough to please. Worn out dated motel, pillows and bedding years old. We paid extra for a "lake view room" and the windows were so filthy you could barely see out. Lobby enhancement rugs taped down with black duct tape. Shower head needed a good cleaning--spotty water flow. Couch had unidentifiable weird stains. Neighbors yelled obscenities all night. The only staff person we saw the entire stay was the person at the front desk (who was very helpful) begging the question whether anyone else works there. Place has a bizarre vibe.

We were greeted at the desk by a woman with a red sweatshirt with holes in it. Not a professional look at all. We then went to our room where we found no refrigerator or microwave. The tv didn’t work so we had to go down to the desk to ask for assistance. The same clerk came down and pulled some wires from the back and said they had to be up front in order for the remote to work. We then tried to turn on the light next to the bed and found it didn’t work. After further investigation, we found it was plugged into two extension cords that were not connected to the wall outlet. So we had to run the cord around the bed to plug it in. Next we went into the bathroom and were just appalled at what we found. The shower head was dripping into the tub that was rusted and stained. We were leery to take a shower as it looked really dirty. Very disappointed.

I am currently in Dunkirk, NY, for business and experienced a smooth online booking process for my room, along with timely updates regarding rewards and points. Upon arriving at the Clarion, I found it easily accessible. The check-in process was efficient, and the young man at the desk was exceptionally informative and accommodating. He took the time to share insights about the restaurant and the city's demographics, which I appreciated. When I encountered an issue with the television, beceause of the storm, he assured me that he would do everything in his power to resolve it, demonstrating a commendable commitment to service. It is truly refreshing to see such dedication and helpfulness in hospitality. Our room was clean and so was the bathroom.
