Coachman Inn Introduce

Within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, the Coachman Inn in Kittery, Maine, presents itself as a practical and value-oriented accommodation option for a diverse range of travelers. Located at 380 US-1, Kittery, ME 03904, USA, this inn is frequently highlighted for its convenient location, particularly for shoppers visiting the nearby Kittery Outlets, and for those exploring the Southern Maine coast and neighboring Portsmouth, New Hampshire. While some reviews offer mixed feedback regarding its upkeep, many guests appreciate its cleanliness, coziness, and overall comfort, making it a popular choice for budget-conscious stays.

Environment: Cozy Charm with Practicality

The Coachman Inn, while sometimes described as "a tiny bit outdated" or "old" in its decor, is often praised for being "extremely cozy and comfortable." Its environment leans towards a more traditional motel style, with exterior corridors providing direct access to rooms. The property aims for a functional and inviting atmosphere, prioritizing a safe and convenient stay for guests. The layout typically allows for parking directly in front of some rooms, a convenience for travelers with luggage.
While some negative feedback has been noted regarding instances of rooms not being thoroughly cleaned, and odors like "weed and cig smoke" in hallways, it's important to note that many other guests have experienced "very clean" rooms and bathrooms. The property is officially smoke-free, so any smoke odors would indicate a violation of hotel policy. The presence of stained carpets in some reported instances suggests that while efforts are made for cleanliness, some areas might benefit from further updates or deeper cleaning. Soundproofing can be an issue, with thin walls allowing noise from adjacent rooms to be heard. However, the overall impression for many is one of a simple, no-frills yet comfortable base for their travels. The exterior of the inn features a seasonal outdoor pool, offering a refreshing amenity during warmer months, and adds to the recreational aspect of the environment.

The Coachman Inn focuses on providing essential services that enhance the guest experience, particularly emphasizing convenience and basic comforts.

While some guests have noted limited breakfast options or timing issues, the provision of a free breakfast is a considerable value-add for many.
  • Reception Services: The front desk operates with specific hours (check-in from 3:00 PM and check-out until 11:00 AM), and guests are advised to communicate with the property if arriving outside these times, especially after the lobby closes. The minimum age for check-in is 21. Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card at check-in.

  • General Amenities: Other convenient services include free self-parking on-site, vending machines for drinks, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Laundry facilities may also be available on-site, though explicit confirmation is recommended.

Private bathrooms are equipped with a shower/tub combination and complimentary toiletries.
  • Room Variety: The inn offers a range of room types, including queen rooms, double rooms, and suites, some of which may include a jetted tub or a fireplace for added comfort. Some family rooms are spacious and well-appointed, accommodating up to 5 people.
  • Outdoor Pool: A seasonal outdoor pool is a key recreational feature, providing a refreshing spot for guests to relax during their stay. While it's noted as "weather permitting," it's generally a valued amenity.

This place is old and wasn't that clean. The bed covers had stains and the carpets were stained and dirty. The tub didn't drain properly. The hallway smelled like weed and cig smoke. Walls were thin, we could hear people on both sides. Bed was comfy.....

Very quiet in off-season, and wish coffee could be provided even during these months when no breakfast is offered ( better than in room coffee pod systems)

I usually don’t write reviews, but I felt like I had to share this. I booked this place on Expedia last week, and we checked in on Tuesday afternoon. My wife went to the front desk, and the check-in was super easy, which was about the only good thing about the trip. We got our room (Room 33) and parked right in front. I opened the door and was hit with this musty smell; the carpet was gross. The first bed had black dog hair all over the sheets and a stain. The back bed was no better—big stain there too. The walls were dirty and grimy. Plus, the bathroom door wouldn’t even shut, and when we opened the hallway door, it smelled like an ashtray. After just 5 minutes, I knew there was no way I was letting my wife and kids stay here. I went to the front desk, and while the guy was nice, he couldn’t give us a refund and asked if he could show us another room. I said sure, but then he told me there were no other rooms available. So, I just handed him the keys and we left. We called Expedia (the site we booked through), and they got in touch with the General Manager, who refused our refund but said if we sent photos, he'd refund us for one night as a courtesy. Still waiting on that to happen.

It has been years since I’ve been to this hotel. Still very comfortable and clean. Great location to places to eat and shop. Only feedback would be that the deodorizer was overwhelming when first opening the room. Love the lawn chairs outside the door to enjoy the evening air. Will definitely stay here again.
