The environment of the Colonial Inn is truly one-of-a-kind, often described as having "character" and "off-beat charm." Housed in an old building, originally dating back to 1790, it exudes a nostalgic ambiance. Guests are greeted by a fascinating array of antiques, art, books, sculptures, and various curiosities, including notable taxidermy such as moose and bears, which contribute to its quirky and distinctive personality. While some might find the aesthetic unconventional, it is precisely this unique decor that many guests find captivating and adds to the inn's charm. The overall atmosphere is warm, whimsical, and comfortable, resembling a traditional mountain lodge. The property is located in Pine Hill, a quaint little town surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains, offering a tranquil setting with fresh air and ample space to explore. It's ideally situated near Catskill State Park, just steps away, and within walking distance of the Pine Hill Community Center. This makes it an excellent base for outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy hiking, fishing, or skiing at nearby Belleayre Mountain, which is only a short drive or walk away.

The services at Colonial Inn are consistently highlighted as exceptional, with guests frequently praising the "most amazing service" they've ever experienced. Heather and Steve, the owners and primary hosts, are repeatedly commended for their generosity, kindness, and welcoming nature. They are known for their warm hospitality, often engaging in friendly conversation with guests, sharing local insights, and making everyone feel like part of the family. The staff, including the bartender, are described as very nice, accommodating, and attentive to guests' needs. The inn operates with a 24-hour front desk, ensuring that assistance is available around the clock. Limited housekeeping services are provided, focusing on maintaining the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms. The personalized attention from the owners and staff creates a truly "homey atmosphere" that sets Colonial Inn apart from more conventional hotel chains.

Colonial Inn boasts several appealing features that contribute to its unique appeal. Each of the 12 comfortable rooms is appointed with period-type furniture and decorations, contributing to the historic charm. Guests can expect a private bathroom in their rooms, along with air conditioning for comfort. While some rooms may not have televisions, the inn offers a spacious TV lounge in a common area for guests who wish to watch. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in public areas, ensuring connectivity. A significant draw is the on-site bar and restaurant. The bar is described as a lively place where guests can enjoy "mini beer" shots and engage with "the friendliest crowd," including locals and other visitors. It features a jukebox, a pool table, and darts, creating a convivial social hub where "everyone is hanging out and having a great time together." This communal aspect is a major draw for guests seeking a social and interactive experience rather than just a private room. The restaurant serves American cuisine, and guests can enjoy a drink at the lounge bar.

A standout feature of Colonial Inn is its complimentary breakfast. Many reviews specifically commend Steve, the owner, for cooking an "incredible breakfast," often described as "fresh cooked" and "delicious." It's noted as a "home-cooked to order" meal that provides excellent fuel for a day of activities. This included breakfast adds significant value to the stay and is a testament to the inn's commitment to providing a wholesome experience. Some rooms also feature fireplaces, adding to the cozy atmosphere. The inn also welcomes pets, specifically dogs, for an extra charge, making it a viable option for travelers with furry companions, although restrictions apply and guests should confirm details directly with the inn.

For promotional information, the Colonial Inn positions itself as "a must stop on your Catskills trip," emphasizing its unique character and exceptional hospitality. For those searching "Hotels Near Of Me," its distinct charm, friendly atmosphere, and array of amenities like the pool table and darts, combined with the delicious complimentary breakfast, make it an attractive option for a memorable getaway. The inn is particularly recommended for "easy going folks who like to have a good time" and those who appreciate character over modern amenities. While some past reviews mention cleanliness issues or outdated facilities, more recent feedback frequently praises the improvements and the overall value for money, highlighting the comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. The inn's location in Pine Hill, providing easy access to Belleayre Mountain Ski Center and Catskill State Park, makes it appealing for both winter sports and summer hiking. The warm welcome from Heather and Steve, the lively bar scene, and the comforting breakfast consistently drive positive reviews and encourage guests to return. It's truly a place that offers a "slice of unique, 45 years strong family-run history" and a welcoming community atmosphere for visitors to the Catskills.

I went to the colonial inn about 15 years ago on a hunting trip. I continued to go back for 4 years in a row after that. It was the coolest place I ever been!! I then moved and couldn’t get there again until May2,2024 for turkey hunting. The place hasn’t changed much Thank God. Steve the owner his Daughter and son are the nicest people you ever want to meet real down to earth Country folks. Just love this place and will use any excuse to come back!!!

The owner and his daughter were unbelievably kind, courteous and pleasant. They treated me not as a guest but a family member. They have enormous amount of curio’s that I was just fascinated in! If you go please tell Ella (16yo golden Lab) that I said hi!

Got caught driving late at night with my elderly parents and wife, we were by Kingston and called some motels and one called super 8 if i remember correctly answered the phone and seemed rude, skipped that place. Called some other and they were booked I decided to look further up North and called the Colonial Inn they had availability for the night. About 3 minute drive from Kingston NY. Got there around 10:30pm and little did I know this place would be full of life upon arriving!! I was expecting a typical inn/motel and wow was I in a for an amazing surprise. When you pull up it seems like its just a big ole’ house and essentially it is, but this has a nice twist, its a 1790 construction turned into god know how many businesses throughout its history, but its currently an inn. I walked in and just the front yard left me mouth opened, relics everywhere, a collection of a gone by era. When you come in, you just get shocked at the amount of old objects that surround you.!! I fell in love with this place and right then and there i KNEW I HAD TO STAY HERE! Met with Heather and shes very accommodating and showed us our rooms. The place has a very nice bar with all liquors served and beer of course. I came back down to just admire the place and there so many things to look at i am sure i missed many objects!! Owner invited me by the bar and this is a hang out spot for locals and everyone, was super friendly, I really loved this place. Everyone was having a drink, laughing cheering and just chatting away. Get this, owner bought me a drink!! The owner Steve in my book is a legend! This man is 82 and still works on the place, cooks and has such a beautiful soul! I would go back just to talk to this man! Turns out we went to the same school but at different eras of course! What an amazing man! God bless him. Oh yes I forgot to describe rooms, the place is very old so if you’re into fancy, corporate style boring motels/hotels please stay away, this place has character! Yes floors creak but people in the 1790s walked them floors! The bed in my room was so comfortable and my room was nice and warm! Showers were hot and did I mention I loved this place? Day after me and family woke up and Steve, owner, cooked us breakfast and can he cook !!! Better breakfast than a corporate restaurant!! This place is a hidden gem, Steve makes the place along with his daughter I do hope customers know how nice it is to stay at a family run business, but here is the thing, this place doesn’t even feel like a business. We felt like Steve asked us to stay over. I hope I have time to go back and stay. The town itself is tiny but very accommodating. Make sure you visit the Mexican restaurant across the street.
