Our family has been staying at the Pine Hill Arms for the past four years. Our kid is on the Belleayre ski team - so it is such a gift to have a clean, affordable option like the Pine Hill Arms SO close to the mountain. We stay almost every weekend during ski season. The staff, Peter (and previously Jane), are very kind and go above and beyond to make our stays smooth. The hotel is older (as mentioned in another review), but everything (rooms, lobby, linens) is super clean. The beds are comfortable, you can sit by the fire in the lobby after skiing, and the town of Pine Hill is very cute. The hotel's restaurant is closed right now (such a bummer - it was really really good), but hopefully they'll find a new operator.

For those searching for lodging options on platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" in the serene Catskill Mountains, the Pine Hill Arms Hotel presents itself as a distinctive choice. Located at 286 Main St #288, Pine Hill, NY 12465, USA, this hotel offers a blend of historic charm, affordability, and a highly advantageous location for outdoor enthusiasts, particularly skiers visiting Belleayre Mountain. While individual experiences may vary, an objective look reveals a hotel that has cultivated a loyal following due to its unique attributes and dedicated staff.

Environment and Location:

The Pine Hill Arms Hotel is nestled in the quaint and picturesque village of Pine Hill, New York. This charming town, part of the larger Shandaken area, offers a tranquil escape amidst the natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. The environment is characterized by rolling hills, lush forests, and a peaceful, small-town atmosphere, providing a refreshing contrast to bustling city life. A significant advantage of the Pine Hill Arms Hotel's location is its close proximity to Belleayre Mountain Ski Center. This makes it an exceptionally convenient base for families and individuals participating in winter sports, including those with children on the Belleayre ski team, as highlighted by loyal patrons. The ease of access to the mountain minimizes travel time, allowing guests to maximize their time on the slopes. Beyond winter, the surrounding area offers ample opportunities for year-round outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, fishing, and exploring the numerous scenic trails and natural attractions of the Catskills. The town of Pine Hill itself, described by guests as "very cute," provides a welcoming village experience, often with local shops and a quiet charm that encourages relaxation.

Services and Amenities:

The Pine Hill Arms Hotel operates with a focus on providing essential comforts and a welcoming atmosphere. While the hotel is acknowledged as being older, consistent feedback from long-term guests emphasizes its cleanliness, with rooms, the lobby, and linens being described as "super clean." This attention to cleanliness is a significant positive for guests. The hotel aims to provide comfortable accommodations, with positive mentions of comfortable beds. A notable feature is the inviting lobby area where guests can relax by a fire after a day of skiing, creating a cozy and communal atmosphere. The staff, including Peter and previously Jane, are frequently praised for their kindness, attentiveness, and willingness to "go above and beyond to make our stays smooth." This level of personal service contributes significantly to the overall guest experience, fostering a sense of warmth and reliability. It is important to note that, as of the available information, the hotel's restaurant is currently closed, which has been a "bummer" for returning guests who previously enjoyed its offerings. This impacts the on-site dining options, and guests should plan accordingly for meals in the surrounding area. While some amenities like toiletries might occasionally be overlooked, the core services revolve around providing a clean, comfortable, and well-located base for exploring the Catskills.

Features:

A primary feature of the Pine Hill Arms Hotel is its affordability combined with its prime location near Belleayre Mountain, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers and regular skiers. The hotel's "older" character contributes to its authentic, rustic charm, providing a sense of history and local flavor rather than a generic chain hotel experience. The emphasis on cleanliness and comfortable beds ensures a restful stay, despite the vintage nature of the building. The presence of a welcoming lobby with a fireplace is a distinct feature, offering a communal space for guests to unwind and socialize. The consistently positive feedback on staff kindness and attentiveness highlights a key operational feature – a commitment to personalized guest service. While some rooms might be described as compact, particularly bathrooms, the hotel aims to provide functional and clean spaces for guests. The ability to cater to regular visitors, such as ski teams, demonstrates its capacity to serve recurring guests efficiently. The hotel's pet-friendly policy, often mentioned in broader reviews, is another valuable feature for travelers wishing to bring their furry companions.

Promotional Information and Guest Experience:

The Pine Hill Arms Hotel promotes itself as a "gift" for families and skiers seeking a clean, affordable, and conveniently located option near Belleayre Mountain. It appeals to those who value a friendly, personalized experience over modern luxury, embracing its authentic Catskills character. The strong relationships built with returning guests, as evidenced by families staying for multiple years, underscore its success in fostering loyalty. While generally praised for its cleanliness, staff, and location, prospective guests should be aware of certain aspects. As an older property, some rooms may exhibit vintage characteristics, and specific feedback indicates that some bathrooms can be very narrow. Additionally, there has been a reported instance of issues with hot water and heating during a February stay, leading to discomfort, and claims of stained mattresses in some rooms. It is crucial for potential guests to consider these varied experiences and communicate directly with the hotel regarding specific room needs or concerns. Despite these isolated negative reports, the hotel's long-standing positive reputation for its welcoming atmosphere and prime location remains a significant draw. For bookings and inquiries, the Pine Hill Arms Hotel can be reached at (845) 254-4012 or +1 845-254-4012, making it an accessible option for those utilizing "Hotels Near Of Me" to find a comfortable and convenient stay in the beautiful Catskill Mountains.

Probably the worst hotel experience of my life. Stayed in February and the was NO hot water and NO heat. Went to bed in winter clothes and woke up sick. Terrible mattress and stained. Incredibly small space (and we live in NYC and know small spaces). The bathroom was so narrow my husband could not fit through the door without turning sideways with his shoulder width. If you are overweight in the slightest you could not use the toilet! No toiletries (peaked in another room and there was some must have forgot to restock ours). Very uncomfortable and sketchy overall. Bar and restaurant closed for season so could not comment on that.

Please BEWARE,there web site is a work of fiction…. Not one of pictures were recent or real .. I have frequented this establishment before , 20 years ago (when the pictures were taken) and I knew the previous owners. I told my wife what a wonderful place..Recently we booked 4 nights, our intentions were to ski and enjoy the incredible restaurant with the rave reviews and bring in the New Year 2025 at the Pine Hill Arms… ONLY The restaurant And Bar section no longer exists, it closed or was condemned some years ago. There was no lobby , there was a phone number to call , which we did , some HoBo showed up with a key and showed us to a room on the third floor. It was slightly bigger than a prison cell , no TV, the sink was next to the bed ,, which was horrible and the bathroom with a shower stall that looked like it had not been cleaned in ages ..we left ../Booking. Com refunded our deposit, and American Express has stopped payment…if review was helpful in any way I am grateful…PS we ended up staying at Hannah’s resort, some miles away, four stars😉

We booked this hotel for 2 nights for a skiing weekend at Belleayere Mountain. We ended up staying only one night and paying extra to book a different place for the second night. The carpet is thin and dingy, the place has an odor, and the rooms are below average. There was no hot water. And the bed was so uncomfortable - felt like an air mattress. The only plus point was that it was a 5 min drive from the ski mountain. For just a little more money, you can book a room at one of the many nicer bed and breakfasts in the area.

Omg, worst hotel we have ever stayed at! The building is so old and fragile, the floors are all crooked and uneven by literally 3-5 inches difference. I have no idea how this building passed inspection to be in business. There are tons of big gigantic flies inside the rooms. So gross 🤮 !! One of the rooms we book has no heat in winter, have to rely on portable heater. I just couldn’t imagine such hotel exits.
